Do you need to watch the full series?

I want to know if I have to watch the whole digimon series or if I will be lost because I only watched first two seasons of digimon when I was a kid. It think it was digimon adventure and digimon adventura 02.

The movie is a continuation of the story with the season 1 cast but grown up. Knowing the season 2 cast helps but is not really necessary. There are six movies (the tri series) inbetween this movie but you don't have to watch them, although I do reccomend watching them.

Yes, of course, otherwise you wont connect with the background of the childreen and the meaning of whats happening.
