| When people bring this sort of topic up, the most common answer I see is usually Madoka Magica... Personally, I thought the song's lyrics made it pretty apparent the show wouldn't be lighthearted but I understand some people watch OPs without subs or that sometimes the opening song has nothing to do with the series itself so I can understand why someone would think it was an ordinary magical girl show... My answer would be School-Live!'s opening (the first episode's version of course). Neither the visuals nor the lyrics really gave anything away... |

Yup, exactly what I was thinking when I was watching Code Geass. Where is the DAMN HORSE, there's barely any horses and Lelouch doesn't even ride one, this is why Code Geass is full of plot holes and inconsistencies. |
| Finally, an excuse to spread awareness of the band Yosei Teikoku! Renkin San-kyuu Magical? Poka~n!'s opening features dark imagery, accompanied by a gothic rock song about summoning demonic forces with a blood ritual. Now what if I told you the show was an episodic blue comedy about a witch who accidentally exposes her underpants whenever she performs magic spells? Most of the comments on the upload I attached seem to be talking about how unfitting the opening is, so I know I'm not the only one who thinks this, LOL. Allegedly, the reason for the opening being so unfitting is that the studio told the band the basic premise of the show, but didn't tell them the genre. The band, assuming it was a serious horror/drama sent the studio this song, and they liked it so much that they kept it. I can't find a source for this rumor though, and the lead singer of the band actually guest stars in an episode, so I personally don't believe it. If anyone can actually find the actual source for this claim, I'd love to see it. |

| Magipoka OP is hilariously different from what the actual show is like. Even the backstory is pretty funny as the song was kind of made the way it was due to a misunderstanding about what the anime was about, and the creators just said fuck it we'll use it. Was a fantastic Yousei Teikoku song as well. |

| Death parade, madoka... Also gintama op 3. Benizakura arc happened with this op but the OP is light and happy, doesn't even show takasugi. And op 16 version 1 for awhile because the op just shows happy slice of life stuff until version 3, so those who only watch the op once would think the "beauty beauty beautiful day" song is just covering the happy arcs... But it will actually be playing during the SA arc. |
