| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Damn, Umeko is quite intimidating and has a very commanding presence. She also has quite a voice when singing. The show continues to follow Setu's everyday life although pacing feels somewhat slow. I love the usage of the backgrounds this episode though. Some of the shots looks realistic and depicts the everyday life of his character. Not sure how I feel about the Shuri this episode as she seems awkward around others. |

| Dang, BURNOUT SYNDROMES finally churned out a good OP, supported by the shamisen. Umeko is such a domineering mother of Setsu's, other than her singing and TV star abilities. That's one of many Joruri pieces of Tsugaru-shamisen traditional music: Tsugaru Ohara Bushi, literally translated: Apple Flower. The impromptu practice as well worth the attention, only if one string didn't break. Other than that, it's just the usual dark-toned drama for Setsu, spoken in the Tsugaru dialect as always. I don't mind the slow pacing, because this lasts quite a while for music anime, and it's always nice to take things nice and slow (with some brush-in gags for comedy, though it's careful not to overuse them). Setsu's relationship with his brother Wakana is also getting a lot better, though it'll take some time for both to get along nicely, be it both conversations or playing the shamisen. I'd swear the Shamisen playing is immersive, no matter the hidden symbolisms within them, much less hearing the surrealism to the ears. This is getting a lot more better than I've once hoped for, since I'm pretty much a sucker for music shows. |

| Hmm now that was quite an interesting opening and a damm catchy one as well. So Umeko is Setsu's mom huh. The adhoc performance between the two was pretty impressive though. But her entry into the story did serve well to give Setsu's life a little direction starting with attending school first. Its amusing how far off the school's heads were regarding Setsu's circumstances though. It makes sense that instruments will be disassembled when not in constant use. But its nice that Setsu was able to make a new friend on his first day. Looks like Setsu has managed to rediscover the spark that had went dormant within him. The performance at the shrine was amazing. Overall an interesting ep that did well to introduce formally the character of Umeko as well as that of Wakana while serving to reawaken the spark in Setsu that had dimmed inside him. While the pace is a bit slow i prefer music animes that way so as to allow more development for the characters and the setting. |

| They did a great job of filling out the web of relationships, which is what you need to start a good drama. I'm sure there will be a little more of that for the next episode or two, but I'm excited by this story. The music is breathtaking as well, especially as a new initiate. |

| Mom is looking like a hooker or maybe an escort if I'm nice(turns out she's modeling a bit) which is funny since the seiyuu has also voiced Ishtar from Danmachi and a prostitute from Hell Girl. Anyway, like her voice in the combination with the dialect. Ngl tho, cliffhanger from last week seems pretty wack now xD Compared to last episode I unironically enjoyed it. The opening is also quite nice, as one would expect, BURNOUT SYNDROMES delivers. |

| This episode had a slower and more focused pace than the first episode, which is good. It still feels a tad bit awkward because we don’t see how the MC built relationships with the older man and the kid, and his older brother arrived pretty abruptly. That being said, I still really like this anime. The music is great and the playing is well-animated. The characters are all interesting too. I’ll definitely watch this to the end. |
| This episode blessed us with two beautiful pieces. One being the Setsu and his mothers performance. Vocals were breathtaking! Second piece was Setsu and his brother. Seemed to be a precious piece to the two. It displays the relationship the two brothers had in the past. This show has me hooked! Like the Opening and Ending too. |

| I liked this ep much more than ep 1, though the setting of the whole story changed quite a bit, beside the grandpa dying and MC leaving for Tokyo the premiere almost seems pointless now, wonder if it will have any relevance later in the season... but honestly glad for this change, I was thinking about dropping it but wanted to give it one more episode, now I think I will keep up with it |

| Holy shit, The scene where Setsu was playing the Shamisen while his mother was singing gave me chills. It was absolutely beautiful and it made me feel so much emotional all at once. Now 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 is how music is supposed to make you feel! Setsu's personal life seems complicated with his mum leaving him in the care of his grandfather since he was young but it seems to have created a unique and strong bond with Wakana which was heartwarming to see this episode. I wanna know who thought 'Mashiro No Oto 'should be translated as 'Those Snow White Notes'?! It would've been more accurate and a lot more attention-grabbing imo if it had been translated to 'These Pure White Sounds' |

| Infinitely better than the pacing disaster that was the first episode. I thoroughly enjoyed this episode. The performances were great to listen to and captivating to watch, especially the Umeko performance with her son in the beginning portion. Nice to see Setsu go to school too there after finding his sound to some degree and convincing his mom that he can stay in Tokyo. The pacing in general was far better here than the mess of the first episode that acted like a season in one shot. Also, love that the OP song used the shamisen too. I was wishing that so hard for Kono Oto Tomare's OPs but that show used generic pop songs instead while this used the shamisen while still maintaining the modern song feel from BURNOUT SYNDROMES. They did well. |
| Pretty good show, though I preferred the last episode, though the new characters are pretty cool. Getting Your Lie in April vibes from this show heavily, and that show was amazing so I wouldn't mind if it was close to that. |

| Well, Setsu's drifter lifestyle didn't last very long. We get to meet his mum, who was apparently mostly absent from Setsu's life previously, before he had decided to move to Tokyo. Setsu is also back in education, and has bumped into a girl interested in the Shamisen. |

| When Umeko started to sing I almost cried. Holy shit that was actually beautiful. This is such a beautiful anime. The opening and the ending are FIRE!! I feel as though the songs played throughout the episodes so far have catered to the feel of each episode. They are very good. |

| Fantastic episode, this is really good. Once again the music is beautiful, it carries the show so much and gives so much weight to the scenes and the drama. I've got nothing but praise for it. Umeko singing was amazing, the brothers duet was amazing. Somehow towards the end of the last episode, I thought Setsu wasn't a high school student but a little older. When Umeko mentioned his uniform I was initially confused and then realized I had it wrong. |

| oh shet man's already getting a harem damn, this any% speedrun is going well. We got the angsty tsundere childhood friend, the shoujo manga heroine and the innocent shop owner daughter but it seems like either this story is gonna go in the episodic direction with Setsu experiencing something new each time until he can finally surpass his granps, or it's gonna go the highschool romance drama where shoujo manga-chan and love rival are gonna end up fighting for setsu or smth |

| Damn I’m calling it this anime will be the sleeper of this season! Such a good beginning and breathtaking music with that instrument, I never thought it would be this good with only 2 episodes. Ngl the show settings and vibes reminded me of Sakamichi no Apollon which was a gem imo |

| You know music animes have never seemed appealing to me but I gave this one a shot and I gotta say, it was a good shot. This anime seems really good so far and I like it. The music is really good and the animation style also looks good. Im excited for next week's episode |

| 10/10 opening. Burnout syndromes + shamisen makes for a heavenly song. This was a much better episode in general in terms of pacing, sound and enjoyment for me. |

| HIKARE AREEEEEEE!!!!! Opps wrong anime! hahhaha but so happy that OP is by Burnout Syndrome with some shamisen as well in the music! Wow, I did not realize shamisen can sound this good! Plus, I really appreciate that the way that the characters are playing the shamisen is not cgi! it is beautifully handrawn and the animation is just so beautiful accompanied with that awesome music! Looking forward to the next episode! |
