What is your favorite sports anime? For me, I'd say my favorite sports anime would definitely have to be Haikyu.

It's ashita no joe but I'll add initial d and hajime no ippo to complete the Holy Trinity. I also like rocky, raging bull and million dollar baby.
I think I see a pattern here.

Haikyuu definitely is the best. It has all the elements a sports anime should have. Just the best in my opinion.

Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru - it is my favorite sports anime, and my second favorite anime of all time. from the pacing, to the characters, the comedy, and the way they portray the sport, it is the closest thing to perfection you can ask for. i will admit, i am a runner. maybe it's why i liked the show so much. it made me start running again; i stopped because it wasn't fun anymore. my world was no longer dull after i watched it or whatever. anyways, please watch Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru - it is one of the loveliest pieces of media to exist.

a VERY close second is Ookiku Furikabutte. i have hated baseball for as long as i can remember. i got sunburns. and i fell asleep. it bored me. but Ookiku Furikabutte - a show that is ENITERELY the games, nothing cut short - made me fall in love with it. the characters, the opposing teams, the adults and baseball moms for god sakes - it just makes you feel so immersed that you forget you're watching an anime and not apart of the team yourself.

Ping Pong the animation, the best anime directed by Yuasa.

Haikyuu!! Obviously. Training camp was one of the most wholesome thing in anime ever.

I haven't seen all the classics like Ippo, Slam Dunk, Tsubasa, Joe, etc. But with what I've seen, I'd say Haikyuu is easily my favorite one (the fact that volleyball is my favorite sport adds a lot). But another one that I really like is Inazuma Eleven (more like a guilty pleasure I'd say lmao)

Chihayafuru and Hajime no Ippo. Can't choose between them.

Haikyu would've been a contender but season 4 was very underwhelming.

Ashita no Joe is my favorite, followed very close by Chihayafuru. I still need to watch/read Slam Dunk though.

Its Touch followed by Hajime no Ippo and Major. I have only watched season 1 of Major though so it might even be better than the other 2 in later seasons.

I think Haikyuu is the best sport anime but I like Kuroko no basket a bit more!
I wanted power… but… I see… Now I think… I get why [Uri] did something like that. Everyone I saw was the same: alcohol, women, pretending to be god, family, the king, dreams, children, power… They all had something they were drunk on. They were all slaves to something… even he was– Kenny Ackerman

For sports anime that requires a recognized sport I would say its Run With the Wind.

For any anime that involves competition to some extent, even if its not exactly a recognized sport, then I would choose Chiahyafuru as my favorite.

Kuroko no Basket and Run With The Wind. I have to watch Hajime no Ippo, Slam Dunk, Chihayafuru, and Ahiru no Sora. I’m looking forward to all of these.

Haikyuu but I talk about it WAY too much so imma have to give praise also to run with the wind I thought it’d be one of those elitist boring type anime but the story was extremely good for only being 23 episodes and I’m sure it probably would’ve been in my 9-10 scores if it went on longer. But still it was a great experience.
