THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
I've said it before and I'll say it again: the anamorphic 16:9 view helps out in creating a film-like immersive effect.

We get to see more of Code Zero's operations and its combat team of human-vampire hybrids against blood-thirsty vampires, which is nice since this'll be the main narrative moving forward. Human combustions (like a lingering Fire Force) into vampires, that's Code Zero's objective to eradicate.

Misaki's play of Salomé in the last episode did so well, another play was made: Romeo and Juliet. It's the Shakespeare context of lovers acting as vampire killers, drowning in human blood...the equivalence of the story of Kanpei and Okaru.

Surely this is more like the Japanese version of Van Helsing (or closely resembling Hellsing).

Till death do us part.

I'm completely lost here. Did episode 2 aired? I thought it was supposed to come only next week, with episode 1 having a pre-screening just like Moriarty.

BiliBili, a Chinese streaming service, accidentally leaked the episode early with Chinese, Thai and English subtitles. It's down by now, but I'm pretty sure there are some streams or torrents out there. (The English subs are kinda low quality though, since the main focus for the translation team was obviously chinese, so waiting for other English official or fan subs might be a good idea)

Are someone gonna get killed in every episode? It's not the direction I'm looking for. My ideal vampire anime would be something close to Blood Lad, not this, not even Owari no Seraph.

I did not expect the show to break out into comedy, specially after the dramatic ending of the first episode, but I can't say I hate team zero's antics either.

Also, these tragic lovers felt a lot closer to Bonnie and Clyde than to Romeo and Juliet, but I guess there wouldn't be any screenplays for that story in this setting.

Still, this show remains the best this season has to offer, and the shadows only seem to grow longer before our protagonist.

I cannot wait for the next play!

Despite the ugly CGI at the plaza scene in this episode and the fact that the episode 1 was far better in my opinion, I'm liking this anime so far. Liking it enough to watch a few more episodes and see if the anime can still get my attention to finish it.

A theatrical Rome and Juliet end for a couple of rogue vampires.

I'm enjoying this concept of using plays to mirror the events of the episode.

The art style is also still beautiful.

Yeah so as others have noticed it seems like so for each episode has had the "bad" vampires be based off of whatever play is being featured. Kinda interesting given this is based off a play to begin with. Kinda surprised they killed that one young military dude so soon. He had a family feelsbadman.

I'm pretty sure he was using a prosthesis based on what his senior said in the first episode. You can also hear a "metallic" sound when the vampire bites his arm, but correct me if I'm wrong! I hope that's the case because I really love how this show gives lots of hints about what's happening rather than explaining/showing everything right on the spot

The art style is still beautiful (although in some scenes the animation was lacking), but this ep didn't impress me as the last one.
Found the characters a bit too generic, as the plot as well. The duo of vampires was lame, and the death of that soldier didn't impact me at all (as they didn't develop Maeda's motives). I am a bit disappointed.

Interesting that others do not seem to like this anime, because I actually find it to be good. The art style has a unique feel (if you don’t compare it to Yuasa works or Kizumonogatari), the action is fluid and well-directed. While the premise isn’t revolutionary, it is still interesting and the vampire powers add more than enough to keep me engaged. I can see people getting bored because the pace is slower, although I don’t see it as a problem.

That ending scene was really strong again, if Mars Red manages to keep this load of dramaturgy and impressing direction through all the series, it will be solidly among the best of the season with Fumetsu and Odd Taxi

The guy that I thought would die in episode 1 died this episode instead. So, I was surprised.

A Kaneki look-alike is here. I hope he's not just a sexy badass guy. I hope he's more human because I like liking Kaneki.

The shota is mysterious. Anime has taught me to be wary of mysterious shotas. They tend to be quite powerful.

I can't be the only one who finds the ending song kind of erotic, right?

So far, it's quite entertaining. It's not a good story, but it seems enjoyable enough.

Ah, this episode i got to see the vampire hunter unit, Zero, directly, and their different personalities. Thanks to the previous short, i already know the basic of their characterization. So far, the first two already got their background, an ex former army came from the Siberia incident that got lucky enough to bitten and not death by vamp poisons. The masked vamp always be mysterious from the start, can't wait to see his background, ngl.

Interesting that the areas also had the illegal blood supplier and the bussiness competition between them were inevitable. After that, they showed me how they hunted down the wild vamps, a couple. They were unlucky enough to be caught off in the middle of their fun. Too bad their supply delicious vial also led them into the doom. Hunting the wild vamps began. The A rank one still pretty hesitate done the job. But the masked vamp and the hunt leader were so cool there, finishing what the A rank couldn't done. The only human that could move like that, damn, the real monster, indeed. Too bad, he also lost his man, and his arm. Rip. Then whats up with the reporter and that little actor? Lets see next.

Great episode! Didn't realize it at first but it was Kurusu and Yamagami in the beginning of episode where they got wrecked by a vampire. The OP was really damn fire.

I guess they're using different plays to base the vampires on every episode, interesting. Not that I am familiar with any plays lmao, except of course Romeo and Juliet this episode. Kinda felt bad for the vampires, at least the military gives them options, join them or die. Maeda is really cool, R.I.P. to Moriyama though.

Aoi the reporter girl is pretty cute, and she's looking for Kurusu which she think died but is actually a vampire now. Wonder what Deffrot is doing though, cause he's definitely a vampire. Looking forward to the next episode.

Much worse than episode 1.

Still good enough to watch I guess, I hope I'll see at least a glimpse of what made episode 1 so good in the upcoming episodes.

"Awoooo!" howled Holo. Fear gripped the men. Even Lawrence stepped back. Should they have
seen her fangs, he had prepared a cover story: that all sufficiently angry women seemed to bear
fangs.

Unit of vampire hunters lead by no-nonsense human boss stops vampires from rampaging their nation, through negotiation when possible, with extreme prejudice when needed. Each episode's conflict is based of the basic structure of a famous and influential play, hence why the first episode was a tragedy and the second had both comedy and romance, as most dramas do. The show explores how humanity shares its cities with the monsters that used to be human themselves, and there are hints of a mastermind pulling the strings for nefarious purposes, likely tied directly to our protagonist and his still mysterious backstory.

Hope that helps.

It introduced to us the experimental ani-vampire squad.

A pretty decent episode, tons of good set up and the tactics on the military's part were pretty good

Not as good as episode 1 tho, and I'm a tad annoyed that they saw the vampire in the mirror, but it's been a while since episode 1, so maybe that rule wasn't established

The first episode left a lot more to the imagination and had this "all I have is questions and this is quite surreal and cinematic" feeling I really enjoyed. Transition felt abrubt but this episode seemed more about establishing what the rest of the series will be like. Seems we are in for a steady march towards confrontation with the blonde kid at the theatre as Unit Zero spoof a famous play every week. I like it, so far it's been a really fun approach and smoothed out some of the rough edges I see in the supporting characters.

The dynamic of the military gives me Full-metal vibes. Manages to feel ruthless, strict, and sophisticated while still leaving a bit of room for the rank and file to differentiate themselves for our entertainment.

The vampire fight was pretty tame with the exception of the last scene where she gags on his prosthetic. Didn't feel as deadly as the one that offed herself in episode 1.

Most impressive thing to me was how the Colonel lit his cigarette in that downpour, clearly has a few tricks up his sleve... y'know cause the prosthetic arm before, and now the cigarette... ok I'll leave now sorry.

well, it was MUCH better than the first episode. thank god the wannabe intellectual artsy style from the first episode wasn't continued

but even though this was better, parts of it felt too deliberate and abrupt. overall it's a pretty mediocre/average show so far

I also felt quite a dissonance between the atmosphere of ep1 and 2.

The first ep imo was more interesting. Now it just feels like another anime. Will see how this one goes...

Enjoyed this episode. Starting to see something being fleshed out. I like the animation, feels the right side of macabre for the vampire theme. Needs to work on the flow of plot as I'm not fully getting into who everyone is and the death of that guy from the first episode felt meh.

So seeing as each episode is apparently based on plays I decided to look some up.
Woyzeck by Georg Büchner seems like it could work with this anime.
Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett has this strangeness to it

I think he was using a prosthesis, which was hinted in the first episode. You can also hear metallic sounds when the vampire bites his arm and he wasn't bleeding at all, right? We'll see! About our vamps, it's obvious that Shuutaro (the highest ranked) isn't ready to kill and hesitated more than once; he's ironically the most human among all of them despite being the most powerful and it will probably be an important part of his development. Takeuichi (the scientist) and Suwa (the one with the mask) are way more ruthless but it seems like they don't really care about saving the others? Just my guess, I hope it makes more sense for you now

So they are gonna deal with a different case/story each episode. The first one was way better than this one. I hope they get back to that Jokaanan thing soon, that's more interesting.

That Kurusu got the chance to slash that vampire but he just had to push her. Sad that a softy like him had to be their one and only strongest soldier...
