| And so the climactic (and divisive) part of JJBA gets turned into an anime adaptation. Ai Fairouz as Jolyene is a surprise, she's a fairly new seiyuu. But her Jolyene sounds epic, so I've got no complaints. Bring it! |

| @Jentheworld But what is your view on people who get Joestar birthmark as their tattoo, and tattooed characters like Bucciarati and Diavolo? Even if Jolyne does not have a tattoo, there are still many people getting Jojo characters and stands on their bodies. And I don't think people will view Christianity wrongly and believe what Pucci says represents Christianity. It's fictional work and I think it's alright to make a priest character who betrays God and becomes evil (e.g. Fate/Zero). The contrast is quite interesting and not everyone with a certain occupation is perfect and kind. Part 6 spoiler ahead And at the end the evil priest couldn't win and die, which proves that evilness and wronged thoughts could not overweigh the Golden spirit. But feel free not to watch it if you feel you dislike Part 6. Hey, nice observations. I'll answer them here since they seem to deserve attention. Well, like I said, I'm against any kind of tattoo, so I'm obviously against the people who get the Joestar birthmark as their tattoo. The difference is that in this case it's not Hirohiko Araki's fault. Birthmarks are not tattoos, so it's not like Araki is promoting tattoos by showing characters with a birthmark. I don't plan to start a discussion about whether having a tattoo is morally correct and incorrect, and you didn't seem to want to start one either, which I appreciate, but supposing that it's morally incorrect, it's basically a person's own problem when he or she gets a tattoo, and there are many many things that can become ideas for people to want to make a tattoo on their body, including magical symbols that magically appear on a character's body, the Command Spells from Fate/Stay Night, and, of course, like you mentioned, even Jojo characters and their stands, but that is beyond the point. In my message there I was just referring to whether or not the use of tattoos is being promoted when an anime character appears with a tattoo. To be honest, I admit that it makes sense to think that body paintings, magical symbols, and birthmarks that just look like tattoos despite not being tattoos can also promote tattoos in real life, but I just don't think that it's the author's moral responsibility when people end up having the idea of making a tattoo because of those symbols that are not really tattoos, at least as long as the author is making it clear that the symbols aren't tattoos, as is the case of the Joestar birthmark. Though, sometimes, I personally prefer if some symbols, that look like tattoos, are removed, like how it's happening with Ciel from Tsukihime. She used to show arms with a lot of paintings that look like tattoos, but now in the newest Melty Blood trailer she is showing arms perfectly clean, which I think is a nice change. She also had a real tattoo on her chest, which I don't know if she still has or not, but the fact that they removed the paintings from her arms makes it seem more likely that they also removed the tattoo, though the removal of the paintings is already a good thing by itself, since her arms looked ugly with those, so, even leaving aside the moral factors or whether or not they promote tattoos or not, she looks more aesthetically pleasing now. Does Bucciarati have a tattoo? If you're referring to the thing on his chest I always thought it was an underwear. He is still one of my favourite Jojo characters even supposing that it's actually a tattoo, but yeah, if it's a tattoo, then I would prefer if he didn't have it. As for Diavolo, those black things on his arms kind of look like they are a continuation of the whole thing that he is wearing on his upper body, though, to be honest, they do look more like they are tattoos. But I don't mind them much because he is not a main character, and he only shows himself (not as Doppio) with those tattoos in the very end of the whole anime. And there's also the fact that he is supposed to be an egoistical villain whose name is Diavolo and who would kill his own daughter. I mean, there's a difference between a character who is supposed to be evil having a tattoo, and a character who is supposed to be fighting for justice having a tattoo, if we are accepting as a premise that having a tattoo is bad. I basically agree with what you said about Christianity, about how Jojo part 6 is a fictional work, and also about how it's alright for a priest character to be made evil. But I still feel like there's a difference between Kotomine Kirei and Pucci in this aspect. Kirei recognizes that he is evil and that there's something wrong with him, whereas Pucci believes that he is good and that everything he is doing is for the happiness of others. Also, Kirei is a two sided character, who also does good things as a servant of God, and when he does evil things it's not as a servant of God, but admittedly for his own egoistical reasons as an individual. Pucci, on the other hand, claims that he is doing things in the name of God, and there's also the whole thing about 'going to Heaven', which is the main reason that makes me dislike Pucci, because it is a very relevant part of the plot, and it consists in twisting the meaning of 'going to Heaven' according to Christianity. And it reminds me of how marxists and followers of Nietzsche try to "deconstruct" Christianity according to their ideological lens. I'm quite sure that wasn't Araki's case, don't get me wrong. I believe that he was just trying to write the story in an interesting way, but I personally didn't like it. I think the story would be better if Pucci were not a priest character, though I do like Pucci's design as a priest character. |

In my message there I was just referring to whether or not the use of tattoos is being promoted when an anime character appears with a tattoo. Also, I forgot to mention it there, but it's also somehow a personal problem. I'm quite sure most people won't even care for Jolyne's tattoo, and I didn't care about it myself when I read the manga, but the problem is that nowadays when I notice a tattoo on a character's body then I can't stop paying attention to it in a negative way, so the fact that Jolyne has a tattoo is one of the reasons that makes me not want to watch part 6. I think the story would be better if Pucci were not a priest character, though I do like Pucci's design as a priest character. Thank you for replying to my comment and sharing your thoughts with me. I understand why you don't like the tattoos and Pucci. I don't like Pucci too as he is claiming something that seems to be almighty and everyone should sacrifice for his so-called fortune (he is my second least favorite villain in Jojo). And I would like the clarify about the part of tattooed characters in Jojo. For Bucciarati, I think I've read from somewhere that it's his lace top, but when I first saw the character, I thought it was a tattoo, and I believe many other audience also view it as tattoo, given that a gangster is much more likely to have tattoo than lace top (but Araki's fashion sense has tricked us lol). Diavolo's tattoo is not located on his chest, but on his arms. If you read or watch the part where Diavolo is being dissected, you will see his body is naked and his chest is clean, while the arms are tattooed. For me, I don't think I will like a character less because they have a tattoo. After all Jolyne is a rebellious woman and I think it emphasizes such a character when she has a tattoo, and in real life, some tattoos could have positive meanings. (I don't agree that some people tattoo Saint Mary or Jesus such that they think Saint Mary or Jesus will protect them) I've never watched Tsukihime, so I couldn't comment whether it's better to erase the tattoo from the character. I think there's such a difference between us because we view tattoos differently personally. For me, I don't need to agree with every behavior of a character, while I can still love a show or a character. I hate smoking, but I still love Jotaro, and I've never thought that cutting the scene of smoking will make me love the character more. Well... It's quite an interesting topic and I've never thought of the question "If you hate A so much, then you'll wish A to disappear completely. How come you're in love with B, which is emerged from A?" Anyway, it's after all your opinion, and I understand people have different concerns about tattoos. And speaking of Pucci. I agree that Kirei and Pucci are different, and Kirei is a better priest character. Still I think Pucci could have a different concept of "going to heaven", as he is influenced by Dio to think of it. As he states that he loves Dio more than God, it's more likely that he accepts Dio's concept of heaven. It's not Pucci's responsibility to educate the audience what a real heaven looks like and spread the gospel, but rather to end the Joestar's bloodline and fulfil the dream for Dio. Speaking of Christianity, I'm quite curious about your view on Part 7, if you have read it already, as it involves a saint, which is mostly considered to be Jesus. |

| May want to calm those expectations cause part 6 if anything is the most divisive part and its not uncommon to see fans that read them all rank it on the lower end. Its a series where its got a fuck ton of massive highs and also some of the series lowest lows and it all comes down to whether those highs make up for it or not. |

Well, in my country, the JoJo fandom has a rather controversial reputation due to teenagers obsessed with memes (especially looking for links to the franchise wherever possible) and / or attacking other hyped shows to promote JoJo. I'm not talking about the fujo who only care about slash shipping but try to impersonate "true hardcore fans", that's shit forever, lol. But to be completely honest, if it weren't for this teenage hype in the 10s, I would hardly have paid attention to the franchise. |
