When Asuna was fighting the boss of the laughing coffin, a guy and a girl appear out of nowhere and fight him. And then they disappear.
They act as if I should know who they are, but I have no idea.

Who are they and how did they get there?

They were Eiji and Yuna , both of them were introduced in the SAO movie Ordinal scale. Ngl it was a surprise to me as well when they appeared lol.

Those two are Eiji and Yuna. Unless you watched the Ordinal Scale movie, you wouldn't recognize them. They have a brief history with Kirito and Asuna, which is how they got involved with the fight between Asuna and PoH.

They were Eiji and Yuna both of them were from SAO movie Ordinal scale. I don't want to give any spoilers but they had a brief history with Kirito and Asuna in the Aincrad arc which is explained in the movie.
