Oh my god, this goes way beyond all my expectations. Every plotthread given a satisfactory ending. He makes up and regain contact with his old buddy, sets in stone how his future life is going to be an delivers a heartwarming confession. Maki is so cute at the end too. Loved it!

That's the word for the end; satisfactory. I wasn't expecting the confession to be so cute xD
Great manga!

Great story with a satisfying, wonderful ending:)

"Oh, you don't want any?"

- I do.

This was easily my favourite sports manga since Slam Dunk. In terms of fight choreography this series far surpassed 99% of action manga and especially most of the popular shounen manga could learn from ARM. The impact of every knockout, submission or even any kick/punch to the face came right out of the page and really dragged me into the fights. But let alone the dynamism and entertainment values of the fights the realism was on a completely different level to any other popular sports manga. Every fight felt like a genuine MMA fight, none of the outcomes felt forced or like the results were being catered to the narative which is something I really appreciated while reading this. Right down to the final chapter I had no idea whether Meguru or Takashi would win the Championship (although of course I did suspect it would be Takashi).

I'm also really glad the romance got a resolution in this manga. Meguru's confession to Maki was great and honestly I would have liked to have seen Meguru's friends reactions to this~ It was great to see Maki finally showing her innocent side to Meguru after they started dating too.

The parts of the story that didn't involve martial arts were few and far between but I enjoyed the few glimpses of Meguru's highschool/family life and Takashi's interactions with the local Yakuza. It was perhaps a small shame that nothing much happened with the background subplots. A good Yakuza story intertwined with the constant tournament arcs could have been a nice touch to this manga but ultimately I still enjoyed it thoroughly. The backstories of side characters also served well to show that other people had potentially better reasons to win these fights than Meguru who just fought for fun. But also that it doesn't really matter as long as you have the movtivation and skill. They also added a bit more flavour to the story especially with Tamaki's somewhat random interaction with that pedo working in her school, who still continued to teach after that -_- Hope Meguru gets to sock that loser one day. It was ashame Tamaki didn't get to see Takashi again in the manga but I'm sure they'd meet again soon given that Meguru is talking with his friend again.

8/10 Overall

the artwork and how the fights were designed were absolutely on point but meguru getting on the finals itself is a very shounen and unrealistic. Unlike the so called other sport manga we had an ambitious mc who in just a year got so strong that he was even be compared to his untouchable rival. The fact that his rival had to even struggle so much, given how talented and hard working he was makes the mc nothing but full of plot armor.
