was considering picking it up because it looks like it could be decent from the key visual but not so sure since it seems like the key demographic is kids...

Looks for me like mix of Harry Potter x Yugioh x Pokemon, that's why I will at least check first episode to see if this is good.

It sooo badly wants to be yokai watch.

On the plus side, I like the 'monster' concept more in this, in which they are magical creature kids tame and not... well dead people.

I also liked that it has such a bad concept for the game aspect that they won't be able to market it. I was laughing the whole time, telling him 'yes scratch the heck outa that card'. When they do try to release the cards, kids are going to be scratching them like a lottery.

The only thing I can imagine for those cards is an app that you swipe, or literally making them scratch-off cards that reveal what monster you got after you buy it.

The music was fun and upbeat, and the engrish was so out of nowhere that I wasn't expecting the gut-busting laugh that happened.

tl;dr: It is the perfect example of so cringe it's good. So long as you don't take it seriously, you will laugh every enjoyable second of it.

I also thought this one was pretty cringy. Then again, I'm not part of the target demographic (young children)...

The scratch concept is actually probably brilliant marketing - scratch up your cards, and then you have to replace them. More card sales...
