THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Okay so now I am confused. Is this an actual end of the season or will there be more coming? Because the ending of this episode doesn't feel like an end one bit. It's more of a regular episode cliffhanger.
Anyway, I am kinda lost at what's happening. It was entertaining so far though.

We fell for the Netflix trick again. Just like GITS SAC 2045, they give a number of episodes and then cut if in half to give us a part 2 sometime in the future.

They should have called this season C: the Continuation, then next season could have been E: the End ( I couldn't think of one for D, but F for Finale also works).

They stopped right when things were getting interesting. I hope we don't need to wait another couple of years just for another 6 episodes.

The reveal that the leader of the nation was really behind it was predictable, especially after the quick glance he gave towards his supposed savior in a previous episode.

A couple of weird choices were made in episode 4 with the sibling reveal and the car driving alongside a vertical wall, but otherwise this season was pretty good. I liked the first season better though. Especially the theme song. They should have kept Marty Friedman's song as the ED.

I've not started it yet, but MAL says there's supposed to be 12. I went to look this morning and was so disappointed to only find 6 πŸ™ƒ
Can someone explain to me why Nexflix do this? Why do they randomly split a single season into 2 parts? AND ONLY DO IT TO ANIME!? πŸ™ƒ Imma boycott Netflix for how they do anime dirty like this πŸ‘Ž

I don't think it was actually ever confirmed it would be 12 episodes and MAL just put it like that without any source.

It's confusing since number of episodes or it being split is mentioned nowhere. No announcement on their twitter, website or Production IG's site. At least I can't find it anywhere. GITS SAC_2045 was initially announced as two 12 episodes seasons so no confusion there, but here no words about it. Anyway with the way it ended it's obvious it will continue at some point. Whether it be under the "Succession" name or some new season remains to be seen.

for some reason here at MAL there are 12 episodes, and there were only 6 episodes on Netflix, does that indicate a second part? So much so that that ending was half open, and leaving with several doubts Well, anyway, I hope you will announce a 2nd part

The quality is lazy at this point. Some scenes were good and tried to match the previous season and then it crashes and burn. I was so lost I started to fall asleep, literally. And then there’s a cliffhanger. I’m still going to blame rona, but I hope they fix this and newer anime’s from production IG. I’m pretty upset that I waited this long for poor quality and bad writing

Seems like these 6 ep was just the explanation of some big plot that is coming, it really endend on the beginning of something. I think netflix do this to see if the anime will bring audience to keep making more ep. Iam just happy that my queen Izanami is back.

This season was boring and I was kind of excited for it too. Guess there's going to be another season based on that ending but I'm not expecting much. Forgot to mention but that ending theme was pretty good.

I didn't care much for the first season. It felt like a grab bag of ideas that didn't really come together. But it did have some really nice production values and a neat albeit vague setting. This season didn't even have that. It looks as cheap as its key visual and the locations are super generic. All of the police procedural elements are gone, which means Keith and all the R.I.S. characters don't do anything. It even seems to retcon a bunch of stuff from last season like the entire explanation for the raid on Koku's "school."

Sooooo that was a pretty fuckin trash season. It looked considerably uglier than S1, there was no mystery, the fight choreography was God awful and they just kinda fuckin threw the twist at the end of the first season away with absolutely no pay-off or even any drama. I'm really disappointed in this season and I didn't even love the first season all that much.

If this is the full season then what a joke but honestly I dunno how another 6 eps could save it so maybe it's better to just cut it off here.

They do it to live action shows too. It's just a cheap gimmick to drum up interest but that interest dies almost immediately when the product is this bad

From the website

"The second season is a story that was originally planned to be the main part of the first season. The 6-episode composition was difficult for the first time, but I felt that the composition itself was easier to do than the 12-episode composition. I also felt that it would be better to make the length of each piece a little longer.

This time, due to the schedule, I left the on-site work to a new staff team, focusing on the script, design, and contest check. What kind of image will this story look like if I don't go directly to the scene?

I myself am looking forward to the finish of the film"

So it's just 6 episode?

That's comment from Kazuto Nakazawa? So I guess 6 episodes is all for this season. With the way it ended it might get a new season one day but so far this is it for "Succession" it seems.

Edit: Yeah, seems like this one is definitely just 6 episodes. Here is a comment from the producer, Rui Kuroki:
First of all, I'm happy that we were able to make a sequel with the original.

Since the first season was produced quite a while ago, the production staff was mainly made up of new people.

Since the story consisted of 6 episodes, it was quite difficult to decide how much of the story could be created within the overall story of "B: The Beginning". The production was more difficult than the first season due to the current situation, but the staff persevered and we were able to complete the project.
I am very grateful for the opportunity to work on this project.

Considering how season 1 kept us on the edge of our seats, season 2 just felt like a addon to the cast. There was not much to be covered on the cast's strength but just going rounds on the behind the scene moves. Let's hope they give us something to clarify/conclude the cliffhanger they left us with.

Ah how I miss the first season where they connected suspense, myths and emotions to give us the thrill till the end. I wanted more of Koku and Yuna's lore to be explored. Still its better we got something(and Izanami too).
When someone asks me why I like anime, I'd say Just Because.

Hmm just finish it now but I’m not happy on climax season 2 was. Prefer season 1 more. Plus since it was 6 episodes, as to look like to me it wasn’t done, I was expecting there would be 12 episodes. So gonna wait and see for next season or part 2 is. Hopefully it should get better than season 2 and. Similar climax as season 1.

Also, very unusual for me to mark 2nd season lower than 1st season. As I don’t tend to do this often, actually very rare πŸ™ˆ (can’t remember which anime before I last did that) as I had give it as a 6 for season 2 but season 1 was 10.

However, I will keep my mind open for next part or 3rd season, since current season show the storyline isn’t complete. (Nearly got me confused then, until I saw MAL info about it)

Was okay. Some nice scenes and I liked Lily and the King driving in the car ha ha. Funny to watch. Then some nice reveal at the end with the King working together with Kirisame lol?

7/10 I guess - I scored the 1st season the same. I think this felt a bit calmer. (Don't really remember 1st season but I think it was more action?) The plot twist and the open end ... bad though.

They should just have made this 2-cour from the beginning instead of 1-cour ... and then 6 more episodes later.

The setting had potential. And nice to see some old king in a modern (though fictional) setting. Usually you have only the fantasy kings that are fighting.

I don't like how this "season" ended up on cliffhanger. And the twist was so obvious.

I was expecting there would be 12 episodes. Even with 6 episodes, the pacing is inconsistent. We have a big part of an episode wasted on something we already know from the first season. They know Keith was going to be irrelevant after the first season, so they added several scenes dedicated to his psychology, completely unnecessary and redundant. And I dislike how this could be avoided if he just stops working alone. Another thing I dislike here is how they keep adding several antagonists for no reason, it was fine in S1 but its getting so annoying now.

So where exactly was the story?

I don't mind that they decided to cut the episode count in half to 6, but then they still should be able to tell a story. The previous season's story wasn't amazing but it was at least there and somewhat enjoyable. Meanwhile this trainwreck does nothing to advance the story, and might I add only shits on the first season.

They don't just do this to anime. It's all their shows now. Chilling adventures of sabrina was 2 seasons in 4 parts. Lucifer split. Kimmy Schmitt split. If netflix funds it and it's more then 10 episodes. it now gets split into parts

They do it so you feel like you get more without ever actually getting more cause it's just spread out.

This season was so disjointed that I will list my thoughts:
1. The RIS team is completely irrelevant this season. They didn't do much, appear much, or have any effect.

2. Stupid lines/plot everywhere ..." Lily, get here fast. Keith won't open his eyes." So Lily manages to beat the ambulance (I guess) and do something that saves Keith's life (I guess) and Keith is fine in the hospital. No clue because they don't show anything and it doesn't make sense.

3. There was no ending to this season because the chimps .... I mean writers ran out of dope/bananas and so just quit writing.

4. I am not hoping for a 3rd season. If one happens.... /golf clap. If not .../yawn.

5/10 score for this season (with an 8/10 for the first season..../facepalm)

Ending it on a cliffhanger end is not a good idea to do. Despite only having 6 episodes, I feel like a majority didn't go anywhere in terms of plot and also didn't add much of value to an already fine end of a story. I personally found it disappointing to see that the R.I.S. team became irrelevant as well as Keith who didn't do much other than getting captured and thinking about his sister.

I started the show loving Keith's character, and now I can't stand him due to his sister.

Kuko, other than powers has no personality.

There's not enough Kaela or the RIS team in this.

Why isn't Bran carrying a gun?

Kirisame to Koku: 'no one is a match for you...you evolve and adapt!' *proceeds to fight Koku*

So the King was corrupt all along and that's why he wasn't worried about dying I guess. So why the weird side story of him helping the canons? Why would he confess to ordering the raid on the institute? If he knew they just had the power to kill him.

I still don't know Kirisame's motives were. At first he wanted to end the Reggies but the King and him want them alive. So, I'm confused.

Really not a lot went on and there are some major plot holes that have been unresolved.
This was pretty disappointing as the first season was alright. I expected more from this season and it just got worse as it went on.

That ending was terrible.

Well, for me, this sequel was a good watch. Even 6 episodes are more or less like a cliffhanger at this point. I'm glad to see new characters and developments but not making it a 12 episode was a bad move from Netflix. There were some good and average scenes but I didn't felt left out, the only time I felt left out was Netflix making this a 6 episode sequel.

As for the conclusion of Kokuu's choice, it was not included in this episode and the fight scenes was pretty much became a cliffhanger once again. Sorry for being redundant but that's how I feel.

I do wonder why Kokuu killed that man, the one who is being chased and he was later on questioned by Yuna and Izanami if he Kokuu was okay with it but it shows later that he used it as a way to call Kirasame out which actually worked. I need to know what are they thinking in those moments...

It's sad to see this sequel came to an ending so soon. I will be hoping for the next part if it ever comes.

I still don't know Kirisame's motives were. At first he wanted to end the Reggies but the King and him want them alive. So, I'm confused.

If you actually focused your attention to Keith's last message while he is bedridden, he stated that "all of us or them was just being used". This probably means that all of their actions was pretty much predetermined or planned: the King and Keith's kidnapping and so forth (I don't have any definite intel of the real storyline}. I assume the King has an idea of what's to become of the Reggies (idk the spelling) so Kirasame probably plotted of overturning his Majesty's idea and probably after that, that's when they, Kirasame and the King, became accomplices again and you know the rest. πŸ˜…πŸ˜

It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

Hmm, still struggling to find the point of this season. Koku has become so powerful now that Kirisame is agreeing to give up his plotting? Is that really what they were implying? The animation this season was okay, but I felt like the story was severely lacking in direction. It felt like a rehash of some of the key points of Season 1, but it also felt very rushed. Watch Season 1, skip this one.

What's the point? It feels like there should be season 3, where they will start from this battle, but even so, I don't understand why they ended season 2 like this.
