people just set it as completed to either up their completed count or because they think they already know what's going to happen.

Because people don’t know how to use the PTW option.
Or because they are haters and you cannot leave a low rating or any rating unless you have “watched” the show? I guess, not really sure though.
But I believe we have those in every other show, it does not apply to BNHA only

Tbh I once had an anime series on my plan-to-watch list and then I noticed I gave it a score ._. So dunno, wouldn't be surprised if people were changing it to be "dropped" or sth by mistake

Probably the "Now Airing" section of your notification setting is set to "off". Also, I checked your PTW list and you don't have My Hero S5 in it. So, unless you put it in, you won't get the notification.

Some people won’t watch this season because they planned on dropping it after season 4 which is why they’ve just put it on dropped. Sure they could’ve just not added it at all but whatever, it makes sense

Only just added it to watching since the first episode is coming out today. I rewatched the previous 4 seasons for this. Saw that it was updated on crunchyroll but there was nothing there yet, so waiting for the first episode to stream.
