Personally for me it really depends on who the person it is refereing to me as a pet name that i like or dislike. If you're like my parents or like a close friend than certainly than if not then you're just going to get nothing but indifference from me. Here online i sometmes get refered to as "Dear Crow." but most of the time everyone i know around here just calls me crow for short instead of my full user name but sometimes i do get called by my acutal part of my name Anthony.

I've been called worse before and i can write and entire thread on the list of insults i've been called due to the amount of arguments i've had online.

I personally rather be called Digoneyes,Plato or Socrates by mom which actually has happened as even my parents are aware i can be very ranty offline as well but they just think its for my job and its left at that.

So do you guys like being called by pet names or not really?

Everyone at work for some reason calls each other in the same manner. I loathe every second of it.

I prefer 'love', 'bitch', 'asshole', etc. Getting a "go to hell you prick" will always make my day as well! Ah, what a time to be alive!

It's aight but I'd prefer something like "papi", "mein führer", or "el conquistador"

I also love it when a cute British chick calls me a "wanker", bonus pts if she adds a mean bitchy tone to it.... hnnnnnggggg

I've never been called that IRL tbh so I wouldn't know how it even feels haha.

although I have been called these things online by a lot of people in the past and I always liked it, so It should feel good IRL as well?

Given the year you joined and also i'm assuming you must be round your 30s or late 20s than i can imagine you using that term.

That is something i should have considered actually while writing this down with what language is used to refer to people in an affectionate manner. Good on you for giving me a point i hadn't consider while writing.

LOL despite the "edgy" persona that i do have on the forums i will admit that it does make me blush when someone does call me dear or hon but it all depends on the person though.

Me personally i just refer to anyone of any gender as "dude" because to me all my friends are well liked equally and what better way to refer to them as that as "Dude"

Ha! i can take a lesson or 2 on how to reach your level of edge lol.

I've seen the opposite gender take being called "dude" very well and it does really work out well.

Depends on the person, scenario, and tone. I know a lot of people who use terms like that in condescending tones (usually my gay friends) and it can be kind of annoying. But for the most part I couldn't care less.

If I like the person, sure.

When I'm trying to be sarcastic I use some of these names.
It's a telling sign that I'm pissed, haha.

not really because the last person who called me sweetheart put a knife to my throat.

It really depends on the person, what they say, and in what scenario they say it. If someone calls me a dear for helping them out, that's okay, but if some random bloke does it regularly then it's incredibly creepy and rather invasive. I don't consider those cheesy nicknames romantic, either. The terms can also be used sarcastically.

No one ever call me those things before so I wont know how I'll feel unless I experience it myself

But if I had to guess I'll mightn't like it...But yet again it depends on the person who say it..

Well in my country there some pet names that are used by older people when they refer to younger people (mostly when they don't know each other)

I think it's kinda cute when someone refers to me with a pet name and I tend to like it, unless it's done in a condecending (I hope I wrote this correctly lol) way!

I think I'd only want to be called pet names by a significant other. It makes it feel special and I also know its genuine! It wouldn't upset me if someone else did, but just a preference.

personally i find it a little cringey being called honey, dear, baby, sweetheart etc. unless its my mom, grandma etc.
i personally think if i am dating someone i would be preferred to be called a name thats just for me, something that isnt basic.
