I mean... Mine was "Midori Days" because I saw it in my middle school library and thought it looked funny. But more than that, how on earth did I know nothing about big series like Naruto or Bleach or One Piece at that point in time? Heck! The first shonen series I ever picked up to read (in my high school library) was D.Gray Man.

I was around 11 and my cousin, who is now gone (RIP), recommended me Bleach. I have grown over the years and definitely read some better work, but Bleach will always hold a special place in my heart.

I don't even remember what my first manga was, but it was probably "Doraemon" or "Kobo Chan" owned by my older cousin, and I read it because it was laying around my grandma's home.

It was death note and i recall being intersted in it was not only for it being a mystery but also the manga section in my hs library was the first time i've started seeing manga there and since then i've been a avid reader of it.

Fairy Tail. It was my first anime and I loved it, so I decided to get into manga via the same franchise. My sister had been reading manga for a few years and I was waiting to get into college, so I spent that vacation reading manga.

it was one source of entertainment. back when in elementary school, the manga corner on the bookstore looks like a dreamland with all interesting titles and illustration on the cover, and i happened to have a friend that bought them regularly so i started borrowing some volumes from them

Brand name recognition. I read some chapters of “The Electric Tale of Pikachu” when I was a kid. When I got older, I read The Legend of Zelda.

The first manga I got physical copies of was The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures.

I got it when I was talking to a fujoshi about Zelda yaoi and I thought I was gay at the time.

Shipping Link with himself is called Linkcest.

I never actually read it though. The first physical manga I actually read was Kill la Kill for Ryuuko's ass. That manga was made after the anime and it's a disappointment at the end. It has a watch-the-anime ending.

It's funny how most people seem to either get into it because of friends/family, or can't wait for the next season.

I really want to read Haikyuu for that reason, but at the same time I want to be surprised when the next season of the anime comes out.

Because I was already obsessed with the anime adaptation and wanted to read the source material. I generally tend to seek out the source material of everything and consume it first if possible, it's a quirk of mine, and I think this is where it began lol.

The manga in question was Hetalia btw.

Excluding childhood mangas like Doraemon, my first manga is Ao Haru Ride. I've always been interested in reading mangas but only started doing so when my friend forced me to read (so that she won't be fangirling alone hahah) No regrets.

Yes my first one was My Hero Academia, the reason was because when S2 aired i hate the fact that i have to wait to see who will win the tournament (bakugo vs todoroki), that is the start of my journey to explore more manga ig.

I read Hot Gimmick as a kid/pre-teen because it was one of the only non-action manga they had at the library in the early to mid 2000s. I started reading it and couldn't BELIEVE how bad it was and I needed to know that she doesn't end up with who I thought she would so I waited for every translation to be in the library and it ended up being even more messed up than I thought it would.

I hate that that's the first manga I ever read. D:<

I'm pretty sure the first manga I've read were Pokemon and Naruto. Pokemon was and still is a big deal. I loved the franchise and read a couple of manga copies at Barns n Noble. With Naruto, I knew what it was but it didn't air much when I grew up. It was when my 6th Grade English Teacher had a library installed in her classroom that I started reading the series. I have no idea why she had manga included in there but it got me into anime and manga so I'm not complaining.

Naruto when I was 11. The only reason I read it was cause the anime was taking too long and that's when I discovered I could access manga online! I don't own any manga yet, they're not available in my town

The first manga I ever remember reading was probably a copy of Dragon Ball Z I found at my local library. I was wild about the show when I was kid watching it on Toonami.

I remember during a 4th grade trip to the library (which was a block away from my school), our teacher instructed us to all rent a book. I of course, rented DBZ. Which the Principal subsequently pulled the book out of my hands as I was reading because it wasn't "proper reading material".

I even bought it.. was I"S from mazakatsu katsura ... i liked the way he draw the girls, so sexy withouth being exagerated, they look very proportionated ... anyway is funny cuz is an ecchi and i hate ecchi animes hahahhahaha

I guess that for manga i make an execption, but i havent read many ecchi manga neither, so i guess it depend on the art, many ecchis are overexagerated with huge boobs and lolis, i liked this mangaka proportions on women.

Now i barely care for ecchi, the plots are so bad ewwwww, but i dont mind at all mature manga, they have the ecchi element with and intricate plot, or at lesst they try, like boy abbys, we have sex but drama hahaaha

Mines was demon slayer. I was still pretty new to anime and wasn’t really that into the community so when I finished demonslayer my sister told me to read the manga and I did. I’m glad I did because later on when I’m heavily into anime I was seeing demon slayer spoilers left and right. Also the manga ended at the time I read it and I didn’t really want to wait 4-6 for demon slayer anime to end

My first was Tokyo Ghoul. Saw it in a library and remembered that a friend of mine was watching some anime show and hyping it up. Since the last time I've seen anime was in pre-school and I was more into books at the time, I picked it up and took a look. The art piqued my interest so I decided to give it a go and see what it's about.

That was like 8 years ago in grade school. It took me some time to get into anime too, but manga has always stayed with me through the years since then.

I used to hang out at the library a lot when I was a kid and the shelves were organized so that comics and manga were all mixed up in the same section. At the time I didn't know what manga was and just happened to pick one up because the art was pretty. I wish I could remember what the first one I read was ^^;

I remember I went to Barnes and Noble one day when i had nothing else to do to see what yaoi they had because of a tiktok, and also gay weeb vibes. Anyways, I went there and looked around the manga section, and I just kinda started to read a bit of some different manga (which wasn't yaoi), and death note and assassination classroom really kept my attention and i wanted to read it more, so i got them and read them at home. That's how my manga addiction started.
