President Joe Biden on Wednesday signed an executive order rejoining the U.S. into the Paris climate accord, his first major action to tackle global warming.

Nearly every country in the world is part of the Paris Agreement, a landmark nonbinding accord among nations to reduce their carbon emissions.

Trump withdrew from the agreement in 2017.

Biden vows to move quickly on climate change action, and his inclusion of scientists throughout the government marks the beginning of a major policy reversal after four years of the Trump administration’s environmental rollbacks.

Whoa!

Almost like he believes in science and what the experts say!

Well America, how does it feel to have a normal functioning person back on the helm?

Tomorrow’s headline: Biden is NOT going to spend 50% of his presidency screaming on Twitter like a madman!

Not gonna lie, the whole "green business" thing is its whole economical niche that is heavily exploited by corporations, and isn't gonna save anything. SHit like electric personnal cars are an absolute joke and just one more fat business to squeeze the money out of.

I guess it's still better than burning every last pebble of coal...

Biden would never dare oppose Xi or call China practices into question even if the world was on the verge of an environmental catastrophe.

America loses it's energy independence and jobs. Meanwhile China continues along with India polluting the planet by releasing carbon into Earth's atmosphere.

Americans are just tax cattle at this point. A lot of what the Paris climate accord does is redistribute wealth from middle class americans (+Europeans) and give it to 3rd world countries.
Not to mention carbon taxes on working class people.
How about we combat the actual problem which is fucking out of control consumerism? Fuck the Paris climate accord and Biden, he is going to prove himself even worse than Trump already was.

It's hilarious because the fake conservatives on this site were actually rejoicing when Trump pulled out of the Paris accord and left a power vacuum for China to fill. China has never been so powerful in Europe and Africa directly because of Trump.

Ah yeah, joining an agreement no one cares about in Paris... So much for "making the planet great again", Your Highness Macron.

I don't really like Biden, but he's definitely doing a much better job as president within a week than the orange wannabe dictator has in 4 years.

The bar is very low and even so Trump wouldn't be able to pass it.

Yes, huge surprise, someone who's listening to scientists will make smarter decisions.

Also, Fauci can finally stop facepalming now. I'm happy for him.

Did no one challenge this yet? lol Like the first sentence happens regardless and the second one ignores the USA is far less the population of both China and India, yet pollutes about the same or more-- such absurdism, I love it.

Nice to see some one finally cracking down on the corrupt oil industry.

Why would you blame Biden for that? You believe Trump is still president.

A president can agree to all the treaties he wants, but it means nothing until two thirds of the senate approve of it. That never happened in regard to the Paris Climate accord. So it means nothing on federal law.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treaty_Clause
The Treaty Clause is part of Article II, Section 2, Clause 2 of the United States Constitution that empowers the President of the United States to propose and chiefly negotiate agreements between the United States and other countries, which, upon receiving the advice and consent of a two-thirds supermajority vote of the United States Senate, become binding with the force of federal law.
