Do you know any good websites to find Live-Actions/Doramas? (Besides AsianWiki and MyDramaList)

MyDramaList is great, anything can be found there without any doubts.
AsianWiki sucks, it's hard to find things there and they are missing some live-actions/doramas.

Do you know any good website like (or better than) MyDramaList?

I'm also wondering since MDL won't load sometimes (probably because of all the ads they have on the site, Idk).

AniDB usually has links to pages on Allcinema (Wikipedia). But it looks like a Japanese version of IMDb, TMDB, TheTVDB, Letterboxd or AllMovie as it also has shows from other countries. Japan probably has something like MAL for all their doramas only.

I found these thanks to the AllCinema wiki article:
JMDB (Japanese Movie Database) (Wikipedia)
Japanese Film Database (Wikipedia)
Moviewalker (Wikipedia)
Kinenote (Kinema Junpo Movie Database) (Wikipedia)
Kinema Junpo (Wikipedia)

For international fans, there's Viki. But it's a streaming service rather than a DB. They have more J-drama compared to other streaming sites, though. There's always the Japanese streaming sites too but you'd most likely need a VPN.

For K-dramas, it's a lot easier. One of the top searches other than all those popular news sites is Dramabeans (Wikipedia). While browsing some K-dramas on Wikipedia, I noticed that they usually have links to Hancinema (The Korean Movie & Drama Database) (Wikipedia). There's also the Korean Movie Database (Wikipedia) which is like a Korean IMDb.

I also recently noticed that MAL now has links to Namuwiki (Wikipedia). It's more like a Korean Wikipedia than a Korean MAL.

You can also check Category:Online film databases on Wikipedia as well as Wikidata.

Well, it's still MDL and AsianWiki I guess...

I can't thank you enough... I'm often left frustrated as they list everything Korean drama but not all of the Japanese drama, sometimes the cast is missing or wrong, synopsis missing, wrong dates etc..

So this Is very helpful I will check these sites out...

I like jdramas as much as I love anime...

I'm not sure if those sites are as good as MDL and AsianWiki, though. There really should be more niche DBs (I mean I don't think my region even has a dedicated DB for all our local shows/dramas; we mostly store info in IMDb and Wikipedia or Fandom/Wikia)... Anyhow, I found DramaWiki while looking for some info for the live-action adaptations of some anime. They currently have 44,342 articles and drama categories such as Japanese, Korean, Hong Kong, Chinese, Taiwanese and Singaporean.

Check out this page for J-dramas: Category:JDrama

I search by years and actresses in sites like this one, then I find something interesting that I really want to watch but then I can't find it raw or sub anywhere. And I am left disappointed..

I don't even want sub, I am perfectly okay with watching it raw but even that isn't available so It gets disheartening .

If you just want to watch then you'd have to go with streaming sites preferably the Japanese ones hence you'll probably also need a VPN. Try Abema, Tver or Hulu Japan. Also, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video or AppleTV. Maybe even the Google Play Store or YouTube Movies. AsianCrush has several titles too. For K-dramas, there are plenty of streaming sites like TVING (you'll also probably need VPN) to choose from. There are some dramas in Bilibili, Dailymotion, YouTube ๐Ÿ˜‰ and maybe in Niconico. For other regions, there are iFlix/WeTV, iQIYI, Viki and Viu to name a few.

If you're after databases then there aren't much besides the ones I've mentioned above...

For streaming services, you can check:
Template:VOD services
List of streaming media services
Template:Video digital distribution platforms
List of Internet television providers

You can also sail the high seas! Ahoy! ๐Ÿด‍โ˜ ๏ธ LOL.

@waalex11 MDL has other Asian titles too. I have yet to make an account there since I mostly list my watched live-action adaptations in Obsidian and just get the metadata from IMDb or Wikipedia.

@hacker09 I wanted to let you know that I've started using some of your scripts. I know it took me a while... LOL. Well, the ads on MAL are getting annoying so I installed Tampermonkey then uBlock Origin and decided to just download other scripts like MAL Dubs and a few of your scripts as well as Cptmathix's scripts to help me navigate MAL better... Imma check more extensions related to MAL on Firefox. I might share on Everything that connects to MyAnimeList. later on...

Anyways, the Watch Order & Adaptations Finder is pretty helpful when I want to check other DBs. Most of the titles I've recently checked are already in the [[ Live Action Adaptations ]] club, though. I've yet to find some titles using the script that are not yet in the club. Hehe. Oh, I especially like the Series Highlighter - MAL. I might install more of your scripts...

I'm just wondering if the Watch Order & Adaptations Finder could maybe add JustWatch? Or even some wikis and DBs mentioned above like:
Wikis: Wikipedia, Fandom, NamuWiki
DBs: HanCinema, TMDB, JFDB
I mean not all of these but whichever can possibly be added (hopefully, JustWatch, Wikipedia, Fandom).

Will it be possible to choose which DB/s we would want to open in another tab? When I click the prompt it usually opens all 3 DBs: IMDB, AsianWiki and MyDramaList.
Franchise Title: Given

๐Ÿ‘ Found on MyDramaList.
๐Ÿ‘ Found on the [[ Live Action Adaptations ]] MAL Club

Do you want to open IMDB, AsianWiki and MyDramaList to confirm that information and get more detailed info?

Glad to hear that!

Yes, It should be possible, but 3 of the sites you mentioned are already out and are not under consideration of being added to the script by me after trying them. And I would add only 2 of them (the bolded ones).
I think that's possible, but sounds like too much work, for something that (sounds like) everyone is already happy with. I didn't get any/many improvement requests for this script, I mainly added all of them myself out of love haha, and because it's convenient and I use all features a lot.

I could also add a permissions thing or something to filter out which sites will open on new tabs and which sites will never open, but again this is more coding time, and it won't actually improve the script that much, the few seconds that it will save (that you would take to close the tabs) aren't worth all coding time that it would take, at least that's what I think for now unless you would like to help me understand and try to convince me to add those sites, or other features, I wouldn't work on releasing only this "choose which sites to open" feature.
That's also because I don't want to bother 100+ users of this single script with a "Pls update this script" new browser tab, just for a minor update.

https://fma.fandom.com/wiki/Fullmetal_Alchemist_(film) (It's hard to find live actions, but it's an interesting site for those looking at diff between the anime and the adaptation, I would definitely consider this if in most cases it shows relevant and hard to find info, instead of just showing IMDB/MDL information)
https://www.justwatch.com/us/movie/hagane-no-renkinjutsushi-kanketsu-hen-saigo-no-rensei (A tiny bit interesting, I understand why people like it, but it's totally pointless for me and most people who just pirate stuff)
https://www.justwatch.com/us/movie/fullmetal-alchemist (A tiny bit interesting, I understand why people like it, but it's totally pointless for me and most people who just pirate stuff)
https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/960704 (This site is really popular, but it's just another cheaper copy of IMDB, with no extra info, I don't see the point of adding it)
https://jfdb.jp/title/7925 (It's a just okay site, exactly like MyDramaList, but only in JP, so fewer people would use it, I don't see the point of adding it)
https://www.hancinema.net/hancinema-search.php?q=Fullmetal+Alchemist (Impossible to find even some popular live actions)

Oh actually I was thinking about, https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/429784-search-helper-mal all the time that I was writing, but I forgot to recommend it to you.

You could stop using the live actions finder feature of that script, and instead for finding live actions you could/should only use https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/429784-search-helper-mal

Then you can open exactly only the sites that you want to open and search on! (This is another reason to not add more sites to the Watch Order & Adaptations Finder script)

@hacker09

Okay. So only the wikis might one day be added… I’m okay with that.

Namuwiki can mostly be used for aeni and manhwa (but they also have other stuff/topics since it’s like Wikipedia but Korean). Language can be set to Korean, Japanese or English, though. Some MAL pages already have Namuwiki on the External Links sidebar. That’s how I found out about the wiki. Some wikis are pretty detailed (more detailed the the ones on Fandom wikis) especially the aeni and MVs related to K-pop…

Btw, I have a Fandom Wiki club. I made it after noticing that some MAL pages have the Fandom banner on the sidebar and some Fandom Wiki pages have the MAL banner near the info box.

JustWatch can be used to look for where titles are OFFICIALLY STREAMED per region. Just select whichever country you’d like to check. It’s not really for pirating (But pirates can probably check there first to look where they can pirate, I guess. LOL.)… JustWatch is integrated to other sites like Letterboxd. I don’t have an accounts on JustWatch and MDL but I often use the sites for my stacks and notes so I might eventually sign up…

I found some stage plays (available on Blu-ray or DVD) on TMDB and some are not yet in IMDb (possibly there were just some variations in the titles) that’s why I mentioned it. But, yeah, we already have IMDb.

I wasn’t gonna mention JFDB but I checked it again today and the language can be set to English. It looks like they carry anime and live-action titles. But it’s not really popular. Can just be used as another resource then.

Usually Wikipedia pages for Korean live-actions also have Hancinema links along with IMDb. It’s kinda like MDL and AsianWiki but solely for Korean media. MDL and AsianWiki have other Asian media, though.

I just remembered Comic Natalie which the other officer of the club uses. MAL also uses Comic Natalie as one of their sources for their news.

I was gonna mention if it’s possible to just open a tab directly on the anime or manga page I’m already on instead of another tab but I didn’t earlier since 3 tabs are opened instead.

Okay, I understand. Anyhow, I hope you’d reconsider the “choose which sites to open” on the modal in a future [major] update if there’ll any. ๐Ÿ˜‹

P.S. I just copied the strikethrough formatting for the rejects… ๐Ÿ˜†

I just saw this reply. Okay, I’ll check more of your scripts since there are a lot. Hehe. Looks like I missed that one earlier.

So Search Helper - MAL could address most of what I said above it seems.

You can add any websites you want to this script!

Looks promising! I can just add any website?! So I could add any of the sites I’ve mentioned above? If so, then that’s totally cool!!! I guess you could mention that later on Greasyfork (in future updates) and have both script pages (Watch Order & Adaptations Finder and Search Helper - MAL) link to each other. You already have 3 scripts linked on the Watch Order & Adaptations Finder.

I’ll fiddle with it later when I get back on my desktop. Excited because it looks like it will ease with finding titles to add on the club’s sidebar! Meaning I’ll have more live-action to watch/in my backlog.

Yes, as long as the website takes input search parameters on the URL.

@hacker09 I installed the script. But the 'Search' disappeared on the sidebar (probably because I clicked cancel on the prompt) so I had to delete then install again.

Uhm, so if I accidentally click the X/remove button or delete a default link is there a way to get it to appear again on the list without having to reinstall the script? Is there a way to reset the list of links to the default list? Or will I have to input the link/s? But what if I forgot which one I deleted?

And it looks like the only way to change the title or url is to remove it and re-enter the details again. Wish we could edit the title and url without going over the process again. Plus, a way to reorder the links.

I made a mistake and added a link first instead of a title. I tried removing it a couple of times but it won't. It still appears on the sidebar even though I already added a correct title and url.

Yes, unless you modify the TM script storage.

Is there a way to reset the list of links to the default list? Yes, reinstall the script.

@hacker09 Okay. Thanks.

I decided to just disable the script for now. I'll just use my browser and the Watch Order & Adaptations Finder script. I might eventually uninstall the Search Helper - MAL script. It's a bit too cluttered with a bunch of links I don't really frequent. Searching is also a hit or miss. Adding all the sites I usually use for checking stuff would be tedious. And I wouldn't want to keep on reinstalling the app.

The Watch Order & Adaptations Finder script will do. I think I made some blog entries/local notes so I'll just use those along with the script to aid me with finding titles to add to the club.

After you learn how it works you will less likely make really bad mistakes that will require you to reinstall the script.
You can remove the sites you don't want listed, so isn't cluttered.

Alright. I'll try the Search Helper - MAL script again later on.

For now, I found this on Anime Website (Custom) Buttons Plus. It's also on GitHub: anime-website-buttons-plus. I like the modal. It's easy to input details and edit them as I go. I like that there's the ability to hide and unhide buttons/links so I wouldn't have to remove then add them back. I like that the buttons are also situated near the buttons for your Watch Order & Adaptations Finder script. The only thing I'd like would be the ability to reorder the buttons/links. But it's fine. I think this script is what I was looking for along with the Watch Order & Adaptations Finder script....

Sounds good.

Oh, that's interesting...
I feel like I've seen it before and I really dislike their style being the same as my adaptations script, it's too cluttered when everything is together.

I think that it used to cause issues with my script, and I had to update it just because someone else used that script that hasn't been updated in forever...

But I never noticed that it has a nice GUI to let users add custom sites. If I had seen that, maybe I wouldn't have made my search helper script haha, but I still prefer my GUI than his though.

I reinstalled the script to give it another try. That fixed the issue I was having with a link that I couldn't remove. I'm just hoping to not make another mistake when I add more links so I wouldn't have to reinstall again and re-add all the links I previously added. I just thought it would be nice if your script also have the 'hide/unhide' buttons like the other script. Anyhow, I'll just remove all the links I don't like or need (mostly the streaming and scanlation links, a couple of which are no longer working too especially the ones without thumbnails). I'll be using it along with the other script then... I think both would help me a lot with finding more live-action as well as stage plays on Japan Stage Connection for the club.

Anyhow, I'll just remove all the links I don't like or need (mostly the streaming and scanlation links, a couple of which are no longer working too especially the ones without thumbnails). I'll be using it along with the other script then... I think both would help me a lot with finding more live-action as well as stage plays on Japan Stage Connection for the club.

it does have the hid x buttons.

if you hide something why would you want to unhide it?
@hacker09 The x button on your script is for removing or deleting. It does not hide/unhide like with the other script. Why? Because there would be times that I might want to check a certain link, I may not always wanna see them but when I need them I would want to be able to unhide them. With unhide I wouldn't have to keep on re-entering titles and links after I've intentionally or accidentally removed/deleted them.

In the code, all the x button does for all default links is hide them, not delete them.
It only deletes the custom sites you added.

Got it, but then you would have to keep unhiding "titles and links after I've intentionally or accidentally removed/deleted them". Which is nearly the same amount of time wasted.
I don't see the point of hiding links you won't use much, just to unhide them when you actually want to use them. In that case, don't hide them because you will eventually need them.

I do the same, I have the top 4 sites I use a bunch, but sometimes they also suck and don't have what I want, so I keep showing 15/20 sites because I know that I will use them every other week or whatever.

If you calculate on the other script, how many secs you take to unhide a link, reload the page so it shows, click on it, then go back and hide it again, you will see that it takes longer than having the page cluttered with links that you won't use that much (but will eventually use anyway)

@hacker09 It's alright. I'm gonna stick with the other script since I've already added most of the links I use there before I even reinstalled the search helper.
