Areas seperated by a wall? How interesting. But really, for a show like this to have world building brings out a creative side for this anime.

Plus, we got to see Elaina's own personality and her past a little bit more.

Seeing Elaina Drunk was the best part of this episode it was funny to watch.
Saya destroying a wall without her own knowledge was ok i guess but i wonder if she even realises what she did, will she ever find out.

And the Majo at the start of this episode was Elaina's mother right?
Makes me wonder how her family was formed it's clear Elaina's mother is the leader in the household but so far i haven't seen her father do much besides eating cake or confectionaries.
Does he do anything to contribute to the household at all?

An nice episode to say the least. Seeing drunk Elaina in the second half was an absolute blast to behold. It’s also funny that in the first half, they had to destroy that wall due to Saya’s undying thirst for Elaina lmao. There’s pretty much nothing much else for me to say about this episode aside from hoping we get some volume 2 content next week. Anyways, I’m still looking forward to next week.

Another great Majo ep, as usual. I’m glad we’ve got two light hearted ones in a row after a pretty dark stretch last month.

Love how Saya’s love for Elaina is so strong that it literally brought the wall down between two countries.

The grape stepping contest was hilarious as well, drunk Elaina is one of the highlights of my week for sure. Adorable.

Can’t wait for next ep.

Saya ended up contributing to destroying the wall that separating the country lol.

Drunk Elaina was amusing to see. She ended up creating a festival for the village.
Like mother like daughter, Elaina left behind a legacy.

Again, a 2-parter episode, of which good content will always never fall short.

Part 1 about a wall etched by travelers, what is this, the anime version of the Berlin Wall? A witch being smug to unknowingly create graffiti, what a great call. But she and something about "The Adventures of Nikeh" has something aligned...is she Elaina's mother? A VERY HIGH probability, but is just a theory.

Saya carving her carnal love for Elaina, DOPE AS HELL. Even the old wallkeeper can't stop her from destroying part of the wall. But all this comes down to is just a wall that more than divided people, is just like a memorial of sorts. Really wondering of Elaina can decipher Saya's knife carvings, that would be funny.

Part 2 of different villages but through the same circumstances, and about the lost art of grape-stomping, not because of high alcoholic content, but because of sales of never-dying fetishes (but it seems like the men eyeing the Maiden Rosemary instead). A petty jealousy argument between an adult and the "child" Elaina sure makes for some hilarious content, stomping through all that grape with fire.

For all to end with the usual child's play of snowball grape-throwing and Elaina being drunk from all that wine, that was SO satisfying.

A bit of the transition of times past and present, what a calm and great episode.

Walls eh, I can see that Saya finished this one but it was somehow good.

That grapes stomping tho was has put some good comedy on it but to think they will harassed Elaina is just the worst they never appreciate how cute Elaina is, and a drunk Elaina and laughing so hard seems like a evil witch laughing lol.

I think so as well she is probably Elaina's mother that is called Nike since they mistook Elaina to Nike and the only one who looked like Elaina was her mother......now this is getting even more interesting.

Welp now it's pretty much confirmed that Nike is Elaina's mom and Flan was her student. Story of the wall was quite amusing.

Drunk Elaina's the best XD. What she did while drunk became a tradtion later on.

Another nice episode of Elaina. Saya was hyped as always when she was carving her love for Elaina and later on Elaina bought one part of the wall with Saya's carving.

The grape girl part owned this episode with pissed Elaina stomping on the grapes and later on where she got drunk with wine and let her magic go loose.

Also, they re-used the op animation a bit in this episode:

A two-part episode. In the first, we got a glimpse of Nikeh (and obviously it maybe is Elaina's mom) and she travelled to a country that's divided by a (Berlin) wall. She gave way for the two sides to write graffitis and markings on each side of the wall. Then Saya just messed it up by making the people write it about themselves marking the end of the wall. Poor Elaina waiting for that moment and see it all crumbled.

The second part was really funny. Elaina visits a grapeyard village (full of FU+++NG SIMPS) divided by two. Because of Rosemary shaming her to be flat (which does not translate to me dearly), Elaina just went GG in her steps for the Here village. But they found out that Rosemary's There Village was a sham and the two sides fight in grape throwing. And for the first time, Elaina is DRUNK and just destroyed all of them. After all is said and done, the two sides reconnect and made that lousy event their legacy festival. It was just a normal episode but it was alright.

I really enjoyed this episode. This Village’s devastation when they heard the grapes weren’t being stepped on by their dream women was funny and sad at the time. They started throwing grapes to each other and new festival was born, the Grape Throwing Festival. The country changed a lot by Elaina’s, her mother’s and Saya’s ideas.

It was an alright episode. Personally, not anywhere near my favorite episode from the show so far but it was nice seeing glimpses of Elaina's past in the first part of the episode, even if not much. Drunk Elaina was something else to watch as well in the second part when having to stomp some grapes. Overall, a pretty light episode as a whole, which the show does need at times, even if I felt a bit indifferent towards it. Solid world building though with celebrating cultural events like the grape festival concept.
I hope they go back to volume 2 for next week. There were some good chapters there.

I think this is the first time we actually get to see Elaina's mom as a witch! Which is pretty cool. Imagine the big surprise when Elaina ultimately finds out her mom was a witch. That probably won't happen until the end of the story.

I think you mean Elaina's mom's past. Because the woman who talked to those two officials at the start of the episode isn't Elaina at all (I also got confused at first until I realized that was actually Elaina's mom from ten years ago).

Great episode again.

It was cool to see Elaina's Mom, I was confused initially because she looked exactly like Elaina but the story was being narrated from the perspective of Elaina reading the book. I was kinda wondering the same thing as Elaina at the end, did her Mom initiate the wall carving in the hopes that it would one day bring down the wall?

Saya single handedly bringing down the wall with her idea. xD

The first part was great but I liked the second even more just because we get to see Elaina in that uniform. She was so cute in it. The men of Red Village got good taste. No worries Elaina, even if you're a little on the flat side, you're still great in my books.

Drunk Elaina was amusing too, we need more of that goodness and more of Elaina in different outfits.

After re-watching it again.

So Nike is Elaina Mother? I guess based on the first preview the girl looks like Elaina, but not Elaina. I think it's her mother who first crave the wall more than 10 years ago. Voice was definitely similar to her mom and the braid of the hair seems different from Elaina and the inside of her clothes have different pattern/look. Plus she was tall.

Official mistaken Elaina, that she's the witch visited that country long ago.

Great episode and all but...

I found some article after episode 1 aired that says the author had requested the staff not to include any panty shots or fan service scenes to make the anime suitable for all ages.

https://animesweet.com/anime/the-writer-of-majo-no-tabitabi-asked-the-anime-production-not-to-show-elainas-panties/

So, what the hell happened in this episode? I don't think that close up on Rosemary's Boing Boings would be suitable for children. Or is it?

What do you guys think about this?

I don’t think that was a big issue. The article did state that the director did not want to fanservice Elaina by showing her panties. So I guess Rosemary would get somewhat of a pass because she’s supposed to be this haughty woman with a superiority complex. Besides the show has its share of mature themes like with eps 3 and 4. That’s my 2 cents on the matter.

That was another really strong episode imo that I really enjoyed.

It appears that Elaina's mother was likely Nike and visited many of these places in the past before having Elaina, or maybe after Elaina was born and when she was still young? I noticed that one of the officials in the town with a wall, said that the witch that looked very like Elaina visited them 10 years ago, which would make Elaina 6-10 years old at the time.

Maybe Elaina's mum travelled a bit when Elaina was still young, although you think Elaina might have mentioned that her mother was travelling a lot when she was young and that may be why she wants to travel now. Whereas Elaina credits her drive to travel to her reading the book of Nike' adventures, which almost certainly seems like it was written by her mum, aka the witch Nike.

I liked the 2 stories in this episode, got to see a different side of Elaina, especially after having a drink. Elaina isn't used to being the second most pretty woman in the room, she didn't like that.

That was a wonderfully refreshing episode. I loved how Elaina found a small piece of her name from Saya’s love frenzy graffiti scrawled on the now broken wall.

But the wine 🍷 cour in this episode was brilliantly executed. I loved the end when she was sufficiently plastered and let loose on the townsfolk with her grape bullets.

"Balance is key to a work of art."

While I didn't really felt this episode having much weight to it in terms of pathos, it's a very enjoyable episode overall for me and a much needed one. I really like how the show also subtly connects the dots with the kind of storybuilding it has. The moral theming with every episode continues, and in this part, both segments involve both sides at odds with each other due to one thinking they're better than the other and vice versa. And due to the similar circumstances, both cases were easily influenced by a third-party's unintended "advice".

The subtlety of that is so good, imo, but it's sad that people who are already having biased impressions against this series probably won't enjoy this one at all and will obviously overlook this too easily.

One other thing I learned: DON'T ENTRUST A WITCH WITH ALCOHOL EVER.

Yea I wasn't really feeling the episode in terms of deeper impressions, but it was fun nonetheless and kinda a necessary breather (which is fine for storytelling). I actually forgot about the origins of such a similar looking tradition regarding fruit-stomping, so thanks for bringing that up.

To answer @UncleJojo's question, from what I heard, they're likely adapting more from volume 3 and some stuff from volume 5, unfortunately, but a s2 (which is actually possible given how popular this is in Japan as of right now, even more popular than Higurashi and Jujutsu Kaisen) may go back to those chapters that I'm sure you're referring to, hopefully. That's why I'm praying for a sequel announcement after this finishes airing. The author has stated that the anime, manga, and LN all deliver rather differently, though, so in the end, it's up to the anime staff on deciding what they wanna go with.

Darn this show is playing games on my mind. At first I imagined it was possible that the book of Nix was written by Elaina and for a brief moment I imagined a dark fantasy where she had sent the book back to her younger self as a prelude to her own future. With possibly fighting some dark monstrous god at the end of it which she hadnt over come in the first time line.

Then after a bit more episode I've much gelled into cannon that Nix was perhaps her mother, and the book she is reading is her diaries. It would explain the walled city old men recognisng her but noticing the difference. And also her picking the stone of her bestie firmly planting the time line.

But then comes the wildness. Potentially as its not clearly expressed. But with the grape village I'm pretty sure it is Elaina who is there, but there is clearly a wild time skip between the guy telling his son the story, and lets face it he clearly went out with the grape stomper from the other side and they have a wonderful life making wine, raising family.

But if Elaina was the witch which landed in there village and brought them all together after gettin wrecked on wine and having some fun, are we simply seeing a glimpse of a future to be or is that representative of the present.

I guess you never really know when magic is involved. But at the very least, I'm glad she is acting less like a sociopath. If I'm even watching her and not her Mom, time skips accepted and potential plot lines under assessment!

That was Elaina at the grape village, it was just told by the village chief 10 years after she visited there. I can also understand people calling Elaina a sociopath, but I saw nothing sociopathic about her 7 eps and 3 LN volumes in. But that’s fine, people are free to express their opinions here no matter what.

Also love how Saya's idea is what made that country break down that wall, only for Elaina to miss out on seeing it XD

The part where Saya carve the wall with "I love Elaina-san" is the most hillarious one I ever watched. It will be more hillarious if Elaina arrived while Saya is still there.

I have a feeling that Elaina's mother is a traveller before and also the one who wrote "The Adventures of Nikeh". The two officials have met Elaina before but Elaina have just met them. The witch from 10 years ago does resembles Elaina a lot.

Can't wait to see more backstory about Elaina's mother!
