----------------------------------------
Really nice episode again, with a damn good twist at the end (even if it was a little predictable).

Looks like the coach mystery from the beginning of the season has been solved, as it turns out the head coach was in Tsujido the entire time. And well, turns out the team Fuurin have been playing well against is the B team essentially for the school, as the disappeared coach and the A team show up in the middle of the game to join in on the fun, just when the B team were slowly gaining momentum from Fuurin's slipups (fielding to pitching to batting once Mario entered the game).

And really in this episode, a lot went wrong for Fuurin. Not only were the A team destroying Mutsuko's pitches earlier, she even got hit dead on with one of them at her pivot leg. She did well early on but at least Nishina was there to replace her at least at the mound at that time. Meant to be since he knew the opposing team's coach beforehand and he was upset when Coach Kunimoto bailed on him when he went to another school all of a sudden and left him at Fuurin.

Nishina pitching was cool to see, even got Mario out with the help of a really good catch by Chiyo, the most inexperienced and error-prone fielder out of all people. Love really does bring the best out of a person sometimes.

And after Fuurin was doing the best they could to hold on, and even exploit some of Mario's weaknesses as a pitcher and his attitude (really talented but still can't throw breaking balls since the B team catcher can't catch it and a bit too arrogant at times), Daigo and the Fuurin team suddenly learn that his best friend in the past, Hikaru, is back and is the starting team's catcher for Tsujidou.

It's been 23 episodes and he finally is here, let alone being mentioned. And he can't be a pitcher anymore due to a result of a collision with Daigo a few years earlier in a Little League game. That was such a rough moment to see but at least he's playing baseball again as a catcher, although his attitude sort of reminds me of Junior High/High School Toshiya when he was a rival against Goro, a bit arrogant. Interested to see how this catcher vs catcher duel goes in this lengthy practice game.

A lot to digest.

Firstly, Furin needs a coach desperately. Their players are meh but I guess they can get into regionals with a good run via Oobi or Eihou knocking each other out and Furin taking advantage of the winner.

Secondly, Hikaru shows up and he's pretty cold damn. Daigo self destructed because of the way he phrased that injury comment. No idea if its long term or short term, but hopefully its like the Mayamura Brother where he plays catcher while his body forms up since Hikaru Daigo was the golden battery :/

So Hikaru changed from Satou to Sakaguchi, wonder what happened. I guess Daigo is a done deal after he heard Hikaru can't pitch anymore. Their reunion reminds me of Toshiya and Goro's during their highschool practice game.
The series is getting interesting.... let's see what happens.

Oh boy, Shigeno gonna go mentally broke next week.

Still not a fan of the whole 10 run handicap. It’s pretty silly and disrespectful regardless of the circumstances, even if it’s just a “practice game”. I can’t see myself physically wanting to play with such a rigged setup like that.

I'm not ready for what's to come for Daigo. The cold attitude of Hikaru reminded me of his father back in Major, he appeared and practically ended with Daigo's determination, and I don't think he's just teasing Daigo to win the game, and now his last name is Sakaguchi? What the hell happened?!

IS THIS FOR REAL?!

THIS is how Hikaru's brought back - never even mind the whole injury thing, but "I came back here in my first year of middle school"? Basically rendering most (if not all) of the time they spent in separation completely pointless?? COME THE F××× ON............................

I wanted Hikaru to get back, I was rooting for them to get back together, but this just blows.

Hikaru moved away from his father after his dad and mom split, especially at the end part of s1, so I'm guessing they went back to using the mom's old surname or maybe she got remarried so that's why Satou was changed to Sakaguchi.

Hikaru showing up as a catcher...that was a bomb. Maybe he will come back as a pitcher later on in the series? Or could it be that tragic that he and Daigo never get to become a golden combo? ;0 Either way, I hope Daigo won't shatter to pieces because of this!

I'm surprised everyone is ignoring the obvious change in Hikaru's appearance. Now that he lost his Satou name, he looks almost exactly like Toshi. He dyed his hair and lost his glasses. He became a catcher. He seemingly moved to Kanagawa? Seems Tsujidou to me is a dorm type of club. To me , that almost feels like a coping mechanism. His voice sounds a little melancholy, too. I suspected that Hikaru's mother probably blamed Toshi for what happened and forbid them to meet, not to mention changed his name. Toshi was a little irresponsible, after sponsoring a 12-year old trips from Gunma to Kanagawa and not being there at the time of an accident......

Add to that and he seems he can't pitch anymore? He probably suffered during his rehab. Probably, when he forgave him, he thought it wasn't a serious injury. It's natural for a kid to not think logically when he's hurt so I do believe, he kinda blames Daigo after he started to truly love baseball. All that and add his mommy/daddy issues. I just hope he's lying and he can pitch again. He's too good of a pitcher...

I agree that coach Kunitomo doesn't strike me as a bad person. I'm glad it wasn't because of money that he didn't go to Fuurin. Mario's brother is there in that school so it's probably family related. It's natural for a kid like Nishina to feel betrayed though lol.

Overall, I like Tsujido as a team. A lot is going on for them from designs to characterization. I wonder what kind of pitcher is their Ace though. Not to mention, they are not as condescending as Kaido it seems (aside from the B tesm coach). Just a bunch of rowdy middle schoolers and gas the talent to show for it.

honestly a surprise to se Hikaru back but pretty much figured it'd be him since they wouldn't show his face but yeah he a complete different person now and you can tell he's a bit bitter that he cant pitch anymore

but then also oh god here we go with daigo about to blame himself (again) for what happened and of course about to play much worse.... unless by some surprise Daigo lets it go and still fights as hard as he can and be strong (is what i would like to see)

anyway good ep i figured they would start losing and figured it would have been a weaker team they was fighting and ect but thats just Major for you but unlike the original when they fought teams that wasnt the starters they was alway able to force them out and over come them but this aint the original and daigo just aint as strong as his dad so yeah

only thing i can say for sure is i really wanna see whats gonna happen to daigo after middle school and see him in high school thing seem like it'll be really interesting wonder will he still be a catcher once he reaches high school

god im just ready to see what happens next!

with that said overall i liked the ep and looking forward to the next ep of daigo blaming himself (again..... annoying) unless daigo surprises everyone but we'll see

Mutsuko weight training for the eyecatch card!! 🥰 Sooo cute!!!
Being the pitcher she had a lot of air time today!
She is also the focus of the OP and the ED too if you hadn’t realized.

So surprise cliff hanger with the appearance of Hikaru!

Hikaru finally arrives!! He used to be my favorite character but I'm getting bad vibes from him now... I was so shocked to find out that he changed his name (to his mom's?) and became a catcher. I was super hyped to see the return of the epic battery but I guess that's not gonna work out :(

Did Hikaru specify who told him not to pitch? The obvious implication was that he wasn't medically cleared to pitch, but then why would he switch to catcher? The position is potentially more dangerous because of home plate collisions. Is it possible that his mother tried to pull the plug? She clearly did not like Satou Sr having an influence on their son during season one. I believe that Hikaru's mother may be trying to sabotage his baseball career to keep him away from his father and sever connections.

A lot to take in with not only coach Kunitomo being here after abandoning being Fuurin' coach but also unexpectedly Hikaru here with his mother's last name and no longer being a pitcher.

i get now why OLM decided finishing this season with this game now, seems this school gonna be next big goal of fuurin in the rest of the middle school arc. that's the vibes i get at least.

that end was pretty obvious from some reason. oh, and hikaru acting like duchbag, like his father behaved...
