Looks like they're trying to improve their comedy skills... not effective on me at all to be honest

It was alright. RDeco’s show was funny at first but they dragged it on and it got boring imo.

The comedy skit didn't impress me, but all the other parts were nice.

Well... Tbh I have seen funnier comedy performances but they have potential for sure... I mean they are new in this comedy thing and are also ready to take part in competition even... So they will get better for sure although the songs are good... Maybe idols would be the better choice. Yeah sure, Idols are always great!

I've kind of given up on the comedic side, but it's nice to see a sorta more dynamic than expected show, with a plot lined up. Maybe judging Maesetsu! inspired by Lucky Star was my mistake. Still, I feel the graphics lack budget or that some effects give a washed-away feel to some scenes, notably at the start...

Instead of so many flashbacks why not just have the show start in the past(?) Dropped.

So basically is a comedy show without any comedy on it. I wanted to like it but if it doesn't make me laugh it's not worth my time. Dropped.

Hmm, their first comedy show, eh? Its surprising me, when they took a chance of the upcoming event to showed off their desire toward comedy. Their whole preparation scenes were nice, a lot of thing happened on them, and i am glad that everything just came in smoothly and successfully. Beside that, i got a chance to see the backstory of RDeco, when their first met in the middle school, and yeah, their motivation to keeps goin on in the comedy industry. As expected, its not an easy step. But, hopefully everything came in smoothly again as their duet performance on these episode.

I was kinda expect something big happened. However, that backstory, that show, and their decision to entering a competition were decent enough to me. Even though, to be honestly, most of their jokes were never met on my dumb mind. I even lost for a secs when Mafuyu launched her damn comedy lines xD. But, RDeco jokes over the bank and the robbing theme were nice enough and pretty much liking their expression. So, i am hoping to see a better punchline of them in the next performance. Lets see ....

This episode was a little more interesting than the last one.

The first half was a little boring but then when they started with their act on the stage, I did not know when time passed. To be honest, I have mixed feelings about this show. Not sure about how this is going to turn out to be.

Hoping that this does not end up on the dropped list.
It was overall chill and entertaining.

I kinda agree with the guy above.

This episode was better than the first, save for the start of the two girls' backstory which almost bored me to death (the rest of the backstory was fine though).

I don't think many of the jokes got through the language barrier, save for the RDeco's scenario perfomance I found a bit fun. I think the other group focused on japanese puns? I didn't really know what they were doing.

The last part of the performance didn't quite get to me because those are things that are common in japan (I assume). Those things don't apply to my country, sadly.

This was an improvement from the first episode. I do hope the anime manages to get even better.
I think the MAL score of below 6 is pretty harsh for MAL standards.

Damn I really wanted to laugh at their jokes but I didn’t really find them funny. I’m not sure if it has to do with cultural differences or something else.

I really hope the unfunny jokes are there so they can get character development to start telling funny jokes.

if the jokes stay the same maybe it would be a good idea to switch to idols.

Can I just reconfirm that this is like Lapis Re:LiGHTs just flushed with Japanese-only understandable comedy? Because this sure hell feels like one, just as is with the original Lucky Star.

The backstory of RDeco between Rin and Nayuta was the only decent thing this episode, more or less the will to continue doing comedic acts.

I can agree with the above that when the 2-girl group comedic acts start, it did manage to capture my attention...for that while it lasted. The group act though, just like Lucky Star, unless you live in Japan, the jokes can apply, but the West is pretty much devoid of all that stuff. That's like the best 5 mins I've wasted on this show.

A fair bit better, but not by a long shot.

Gotta disagree with you on that one. Outside of the otaku references, Lucky Star's comedy is pretty darn universal. It's one of the reasons it struck a chord so strongly with me even though it was pretty much one of the first anime I ever watched that I consciously knew was anime.

Understand, give or take based on opinion, but I was trying to say if this is trying to replicate Lucky Star, then it wouldn't have mattered much at all.

This is an anime that tries to talk about comedy but doesn't know how to do comedy. I refuse to believe that this has the same original creator as Lucky Star, an anime that did comedy so well. The author has disappeared, the only thing about him in Maesetsu is the name.

It seems like a lot of people have simply don't understand this style of comedy. That's fine and all, but it is surprising to people bombing it down to the 5s on the rating.

It reminds me of people not understanding the rakugo humour in Joshiraku.

As expected, this kind of comedy doesn't resonate well with a western audience, me included.

I've watched a few japanese comedy shows, and the overall feel of the jokes is pretty much the same.

Don't say it's bad comedy, keep in mind that it's obviously made for a Japanese audience, so you can't expect the same kind of humour that you usually consider "funny".

This show hasn't really been funny and people saying this show isn't connecting because we aren't Japanese, Anikore which is a Japanese rating site has it at a 2.8 out of 5 which means its a 5.6/10 which is .02 higher than on MAL, so I think it just isn't good tbh

To be honest I dont mind the show not being that funny or having jokes that fell flat in the earlier episodes. Imo this series is less about the girls being funny and more about the girls trying their best to be manzai performers and the struggle they face as a newcomer in the manzai industry. Jokes can fall flat, disinterested audiences can kill the mood quickly, and you’ll always be compared so someone else funnier than you. Plus comedy is subjective anyways so what you find funny might not be funny to other people, adding to the fact that the manzai/rakugo style japanese comedy does not bode well to western audience and the issue with translating japanese jokes to english.

Hopefully by the end of the series their jokes and performances would become more polished. So far I am enjoying it although some of the jokes only came to me after rewatching it a couple of times.

I can see why some would think that the jokes are more for Japanese audiences but the audience in the show did not laugh that much either so it probably really was not very funny. I also agree with Actar and that Lucky Star's comedy is fairly universal. The otaku jokes in Lucky Star were an added bonus for me because I could relate to them. This show for me has some potential, and I've never seen another anime about trying to become a comedian. Hopefully there will be more Lucky Star references.

Oh my gosh. I liked this episode so much more than the first episode yet I was actually fine with the first episode. Like, this episode was over before I knew it. I totally thought the ending song was the part of the second part of the episode or something until I started seeing credits text. But also the ending song is pretty nice.

I thought RDeco's part of the show was actually kinda funny. They just have to polish it I guess!

A lot more interesting now that the four of them actually perform a show. Jokes fall flat for me, probably something people who can speak japanese and understand the culture would appreciate.
