Every season, I hear a lot of hype about new anime that is coming out, but I rarely care about stuff that is coming out at the moment unless it's a sequel to something I like. So, I'm wondering if people really care about these new anime or if it is just hype.

Seasonal anime are easier to watch (and easier to drop) than non-seasonals and don't need any driving force to watch them unlike non-seasonal ones for me (tons of stuff are there to check).

There are a significant amount of anime that I wouldn't check anytime soon (or probably would never check) them if I wouldn't watch them as "seasonal anime" that I'm glad I watched them and there are shows that I dropped in their first ep that I would normally watch more than that to drop so yeah I watch seasonals

Most of the time, i don't because i don't wanna wait until the next episode. So i prefer to watch finished stuff. But sometimes i make an exception.

I'm mostly like you, I see it as senseless hype and only bother if I like the plot or if it is a sequel or is in any way related to something I like

Normally, I'd just watch one or two. Other than that, I would usually wait for them to finish airing before watching.

I pick up a few titles here and there each season. I took a break from seasonal anime a few years ago when most airing titles didn't interest me. New episodes gives me the opportunity to look forward to a day of the week.

I haven't followed seasonals for a couple years. I used to watch almost everything, but eventually burnt-out. Watching countless bad seasonals was honestly crushing my love for the medium to an extent, so I stopped. I still watch 1 or 2 big ones here and there. My focus has been on older anime.

On and off. If there are seasonals that seem appealing or intriguing, I'll give them a shot. It's definitely fun to focus on one anime on a weekly basis because there's the anticipation that comes with it every week. It's a moment you look forward to amidst the many tedious or boring events.

I personally do care for seasonals, because they set a nice routine over week and they are easier to watch because they don't take any effort to watch unless regular show I have to make time for (and it's really hard). It's also great opportunity to watch something I wouldn't usually pick myself and get variety of genres at same time.

It depends on what's coming out each season. I usually follow about 5-10 shows from the current season, but the number of series that interest me varries. I will also watch completed stuff too.

I do watch anime that aired as seasonals, but never the season that they're actually airing. I wait until at least the season after before watching them.

In the last couple of years I've barely watched seasonal anime apart from maybe Shingeki no Kyojin when a new series comes out. However with the current pandemic I've actually been watching some seasonal anime as I'm not going out and doing things as much and staying in more. (I mean how can I not watch the new season of Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni when it comes out, I don't have the patience to wait for a new season of my favourite show to finish entirely before I watch it lol).

I watch some seasonal animes depending of the free time I have during the season. I always watch at least 2 of 3 animes per season. I am watching 6 of this season animes. I don't remember exactly. I watch them if the synopsis seems interesting for me.
However, it has one advantage to watch seasonal animes: it's easier to watch one episode a week of the seasonal anime than watching all the episodes of a finished anime.

I wait until the end of the season to marathon all the seasonal anime that have just finished airing, so I do watch seasonals, just not on a week-to-week basis. All the remaining time in the season where I'm waiting for the seasonals to finish airing is usually devoted to other anime that have completed airing in the 2000s and 2010s.

Usually I pick 3-4 things that catch my eye; five if it's a good lineup, but since most seasonals are usually not very interesting or aren't marketed well enough, I don't see myself finishing more than that.

I try to do some seasonal anime watching, every other season, but it almost always comes to stab me in the back because I just can't seem to stay interested in a show for that long. even with just a 12 episode series, by just the sixth episode, SIX WEEKS have past, and it could be the greatest anime of all time and still I'll feel like i'm tired of it.
about half of my dropped list was a seasonal I tried to watch.

Yes, I'm part of seasonal watcher. because marathoning bad anime is certainly a no. Watching it an episode a week ? Hmmm... It's alright. Taking the piss out of it is kinda enjoyable.

Yes, I need something different every day, seasonals are the best for this. And I like that there is nothing available apart from 1 episode a week. It's somehow less intimidating to watch 1 episode from 12+ shows than start a show with 12 episodes that are already aired. Besides, I do actually like most of the shows I watch. I see no point in waiting for them to be finished if I'm going watch them anyway.

Exactly. I don’t want to binge a show that came out recently so I’m watching a lot of seasonals.

To be honest, i thought that alot of people watch seasonal anime but it seems that not that many people are into that...

I do tho and i try to watch as many as possible as well and there are alot of em as well that hurts waiting for them because the synopsis seemed really good or the manga is already something i'm following

I only watch seasonal anime that I think I'll like. I honestly can't bother looking for something that's already completed because when you find 1 you find more and then before you know it you've got a 300+ PTW list like me.

Currently watching 14 seasonals.

I don't like to have to wait a week to see what happens next. So I normally watch completed anime.

However, this season has a lot of shows I REALLY wanna see now, so I'm reluctantly following them weekly lol

I've only been watching seasonal anime for about a year now. Prior to that, I just kind of drifted from one complete series to the next based on recommendations. But once I started paying attention to what was on the horizon, I saw a lot of shows that genuinely interested me.

I don't mind watching from week to week. I enjoy the suspense and having time to think about what I watched. I'll usually pick five to ten shows per season and set aside a single day to watch the latest episodes, then binge older shows throughout the rest of the week. Seems to work fine for me.

Yup I watch seasonals, I don't have cable anymore and I miss those days of looking forward to a specific day of the week because a new episode of a show you like is airing that day. I still remember the days when I'd be impatiently waiting for the next Naruto manga chapter, looking forward to every Thursday. I need that shit in my life again, and seasonal anime is how I get it back.

Also some shows are just better when you actually have to wait between episodes, despite what you impatient lads and ladettes say. When you start an episode after waiting a week after a major cliffhanger ending? God damn, that's an experience. Not as fun if you can just start the next episode immediately after the cliffhanger.

I usually pick a few to give a chance and tend to keep an ear out for recommendations of good airing anime. Watching one episode per week is, in my opinion, a much healthier way to watch anime. That said, it is sometimes a shot in the dark, as there's no way to know if a show is good or not beforehand.
