Because it's not shōnen and doesn't have a high-school age boy or girl as MC. I'm hyped for it BTW.

Many anime fans don't like to watch shows which doesn't have a teen dumb boy or cute girl in premise and this film looks like it's focused towards kids unless there's a gruesome plot twist like Made in Abyss. Its popularity and rating skyrocketed after that turn in the end.

It is probably because it hasn't been published in many countries. In France, it's pwned by a specialized publisher that is usually passed over so I didn't even know this series before the beginning video was released.

But a lack of "hype" (this stupid internet era way of thinking) can only be good.
