| Even though we all wanted that confession, pulling that sike hurt harder then just not saying anything at all. They're both putting up fronts, I get it--it's less complicated. It's also real life, but dang that dropped it down a point. If anything, his kindness and also selfishness kind of makes him a great match for Ruka. I think Ruka's a great contrast to Mizuhara too. But my god, his personality (of not just telling Ruka straight up), and also Ruka lowkey dating him via black mail (although we see she never goes through with it) is kind of ... exhausting. Like damn. It's one thing if Mizuhara never gets happiness, but it's another to just see her literally bend in half emotionally and existentially to meet his needs. She's definitely the type to choose someone else's happiness over her own life. Damn, she deserves more. Also, someone needs to knock her acting down a peg. It'll kill her. Also Mami basically showing that she was in it to play Kazuya, but got bored and wanted to be chased... her personality was exhausting too. I hope these girls are all truly fictional and not a spinoff of life, because if so--damn this...is too much for me. For fiction, sure we get it. We see hormones and also real-life responses. We see the flaws that make the characters even closer to our hearts. But nah if this is based off real life - hard pass. I don't care if they're soulmates personality wise or destiny wise. It's time to cut all that off or say it as it is. (Which to be fair we don't even know Mizuhara's personality outside of girlfriend mode. Like grandma said, as precious as she is that pedestal is only getting higher) 6/10. Went from my favourite show of the season to downright nails on a chalk board. I'll stick around for a season 2, because I want to believe atleast one of these toxic chains will end, but to be honest the more I marinate the less invested I am in their relationship. It's just making sure Ruka doesn't get him, and also Mami snaps out of whatever the heck is her problem. (She wants the D and the attention? She wants virgin blood? I hope I'm not sensing a redemption arc for her. ) |

| The sad and ever continuing beta nature of males in japan is ever more apparent when characters such as the guy in this show become more and more commonplace. WHat a twerp. THe dude was pathetic...he wasnt even a kid though. But as I said...this has been happening for a while in real life, and art often mimics it as it did in this crap show. It has been a long time since i was so relived to be done with an anime. This show showed how bad things are, especially because of women ( takes two to "tango")...yet still a man has to step up his game ffs. 4/10 for this disaster show with barely a handful of funny moments. |
| I fucking loved it!!! Was hooked at the 1st episode and binged the whole thing in 2 days. I am not a huge fan of Chizuru, she is allright. But I love Kazuya and Mami so much, both very realistic characters! Also the anime was never boring, great music, perfect pacing, cliffhangers every episode, beautiful animation, good comedy, good romance, many twists and turns and many feels! I had a great time!! A well deserved 9/10 for me and can’t wait for the second season! I need and want more! :D |
| It was an alright show, didn't particularly care about the romance aspect but the comedy department of it is great. The various facial expressions is GOLD (mostly Kazuya's) gdi that sike at the end though |
| decent ride, didnt expect much from the beginning but it did better than expected. i did read the manga a bit, but the anime did have some of the nice moments. was really hoping for more funnies since chizuru = aqua (konosuba) shenanigans, but yeah, the comedy aspect fell short a bit. also felt sumi was a needless char and shouldnt have been included, maybe in an OVA. weird part is, it felt to me that mami either had an awesome VA, or a terrible 1, hard to decide since that was the way mami was portrayed here... |

| This didn't really do it for me. From a certain point, it seemed like there was no development at all. It only got interesting whenever Mami-chan made an appearance. But other than that, the MC's wallowing in self-pity simply got fatiguing after a while. To add to that, his interplay with other characters is not the best thing in the world; things were looking really exciting when Ruka got into the mix, and I was really looking forward to how the MC will manage dealing with her, Chizuru and Mami-chan. The confession at the end could have been quite a saving grace...if not for the MC's screw-up. Now what's to happen in a second season? Things don't seem far from coming full circle: Mami is perhaps even more doubtful at getting back with the MC, he and Chizuru will likely continue the same rental thing, and Ruka will likely continue being a caricature; she's just..there. I get the Chizuru starting to take a slight liking to the MC, but in hindsight it seems like not much has happened in those 12 episodes. The art was nice though. |

| 5/10. I usually like harem animes, but Jesus Christ what a cringefest. Annoying main character, shallow girls. The only thing this show had going for it was some hot chicks. Also the ending was unsatisfactory, obviously it alludes to them going on a proper date but it would have been better if they confirmed it outright. |

| And it's done. A lot of things happened in this episode but nothing new. Mami is still a trash and I hate her, Chizuru might become a tsundere and I hate that because she was a great character in this season and Kazuya is still dumb. Poor Ruka though, everything was about to get better but Mami discovered the "secret". I was actually hoping Kazuya would confess to her but in the end, he played it as a joke so rip that. I can't help but compare this to the other romance anime I have seen and I can't put KanoKari even close to them. Kazuya had good moments but most of the times he was annoying and dumb, playing the victim too much and not using his brain. It also had A LOT of fanservice and I mean a lot which at times killed the enjoyment. Season 2 announced as well, but I might read the manga at this point. |

| Man this is just a random thought that came up in my mind but I hate how this show absolutely abuses the blush. Like they totally just overuse and slaughter it. Trying to find a scene where a character is not blushing is like trying to find a needle in a haystack in outer space. Look at ufotable when they apply the blush to Rin. It's not used often, and when they do, it's actually rather subtle. But it works to great effect because it is used when it really matters. Here in rent-a-girlfriend on the other hand? Grab a paint bucket full of blush and just DOUSE their faces with it. Especially the sumi chick, holy shit. Watched this last year while it was airing but for some reason this thought just came to me and I just had to let it out |

| With that, I finally finished it!! The episode was very short and focused on just Chizuru and Mami. Still, I do not understand Mami's problem. She may or may not have any feelings for Kazuya, yet she always get resentful if someone else makes Kazuya happy. Like, do you really like him or not?? Poor Ruka. She's trying her best, yet keeps getting put on the sidelines. I honestly feel bad for her. Sumi is good as well, but she's more of a beginner. Gonna be interesting how she slowly slides in the main picture. Chiziru will always be the main girl, but I'm more of a Ruka girl. Still, it does seem like she's slowly falling for Kazuya. And yeah fuck Kazuya. I'm sorry, but this guy is just freaking weak ass sauce. Like be a Man for once >__< I hope S2 will focus on other girls as well like Sumi and Ruka. Have to see if Chiziru can still maintain her rent girlfriend on mode, as she gets more gigs in the future. Can't wait for S2! I may just watch the TV version rather than waiting on the BD like I did for S1. 8-9/10 depending on the mood :) |
| Well I liked the art and theme. It's similar to other anime with a pretend-girlfriend plot. And regardless of how it turned I actually liked the first 2 episodes but it just went downhill from there. And it's not just the main character but there are other issues too. However, Kazuya's character is the primary reason for my dislike of this show. I understand rom-coms sometimes have such garbage MCs in funny scenarios and they later improve but it doesn't always work. In Kazuya's case his character is not only a self-loathing, spineless and cringeworthy creep but also has this beta cuck vibe. The only positive thing about him is that he cares for others and is good natured but that's not good enough for me. The more I watched the show the more I begin to hate him and his self-condescending attitude. Yet the author shows his flaws and weakness like they are some badge of honor instead of refining his character. He can't even tell Chizuru his true feelings after a whole year of rental dating. Seriously how pathetic can a character be? The other issue I have it that entire show simply revolves around lies and misconceptions which is essentially the only thing that keeps the plot going. It also annoying how everything that happens is MCs problem and he feels obliged to fix it. Not only that he has no sense of his own personal privacy as he shares his love life with people who mock and make fun on him like in that beach episode. Or the fact that he plans a date of his rental girlfriend(who he is in love with) with Kuri just because Kuri is depressed about Kazuya finding out about his rental gf. What's next? Help Kuri lose his virginity the next time he is depressed? It's quite possible since this beta cuck Kazuya likes to fantasize about woman he loves having sex with other man. The only characters who are somewhat cool and mature are Chizuru and Kibe. The rest are problematic. Ruka's aggressiveness in pursuing Kazuya to be her boyfriend deserves a proper explanation. Mami's attitude and personality is not really explained either. The grandma blatantly forces her expectations on Kazuya. |

I don't see how this "I want to make it official!" can be forgotten so easily, Kazuya did finish saying this to Ruka before he freaked out at Chizuru and Mami appearing. 10:33 This is the last we see of Ruka this season and she has yet to give a response due to his pretending-to-be-sick stunt. 18:31 Way to go and back track... Mami's should absolutely not be an option. |

| Well, it's obvious that MC is a weakling and a wierdo. He is just a quintessence of all possible male weaknesses towards females. And while people pretty much agreed that he is almost not bearable same people ignore the fact that Chizuru is no better. It's ridiculous that people with all seriousness looking for a waifu in a such anime where main love interest of MC Chizuru is just a social prostitute when other girls need a psychiatrist. What, Kazuya need to cover up his lies? Chizuru also need to cover up her secret but wait Kazuya should pay for both in the end of the day for a whole year. Let's go there, let's discuss this - don't forget to pay for everything. And people still trying to defend such BS because there is no sex? Yeah, this is why it's a social prostitution and not just an ordinary one. Even real prostitutes have some principles, they sell their bodies but not their souls. Local rented girlfriends are doing opposite - they spread lies and create fake emotional links to make clients obsessed with them. Hell, even hostesses are better since they sit tight in a hostess bar and doing their magic not far away from another clients and hostesses so client clearly understands where he is and what's happening. The concept of this anime is totally ill and Chizuru's primitive argument "I needed work" is laughable. On one side this anime want to be safe (like do author implying that there weren't any clients which were ready to pay for a night service to a woman from a such business? I bet such women would happily agree like escort do which is an west equivalent of GF rent) but on another hand this story is no different from relations between MC and a prostitute from a movie Born on the Fourth of July. This anime is promoting fake relations (like it's a first step of relationships ladder) and romanticizing rotted from the inside characters. Every time when Chizuru opened her mouth to say some lofty nonsense with a serious and proud face she clearly forgot to add "...for the money" in the end of each phrase. |

| Well, I'm glad I managed to end S1 just in time for S2. Going to have a lot of reasonable and rational discussion based on this anime. So S1, I really enjoyed it despite its many faults. It had a interesting premise and two interesting characters in Chizuru and Mami. I hope these two get a spin-off or their own storyline. Kazuya was a mixed bag; both entertaining and "bang my head in the desk" moments with him. I will still take that over being a bland character. Also, I didn't realize an entire year had passed with Chizuru pretending to be his girlfriend. That answers my question of how the heck she fell in love with Kazuya. She was exposed to both the good and bad sides of his resulting in a certain intimacy to be formed leading to love which occurred over the course of a year. Waifu ranking, the primary attraction of the show: 1) Chizuru Ichinose 2) Mami Nanami 3) Rental Komi-San 4) Ruka Sarashina |

| Fucking masterpiece. 10/10. Can't wait to watch Season 2, just 3-4 more days left. This was a rewatch for me but still this was just as enjoyable as first time especially considering it had been like a year since I watched it for the first time and had forgotten some details. Sometimes things got cringey and the second hand embarassment at some parts was out of limits so much so that I had to pause, prepare myself and then continue watching but boy is this fucking entertaining to watch, I've lost the counts of how many times I audibly laughed while watching this. Call this anime whatever you want but for me this is a solid 10/10. P.S. I'm hoping I don't see these people hating on it here in discussion threads of Season 2, just drop this anime and stop bothering people who actually like this anime with your hateful comments. |

| Goddamnit, he was so close to happiness with Ruka. But in the end he'll be together with Chizuru anway, so of course there was no way he'd actually confess. This was a very conflicting anime for me to watch. The first half was cringe of death, but somehow still enjoyable. I guess it's the first time such a crappy story was so well crafted by the animation studio, so even with the protagonist being a horrible spineless coward, I was looking forward to watching the next episode. Best girl was obviously Ruka, like that's not even a question. Sumi was alright, but with just one episode it's really too early to judge her yet. And even with that one episode she managed to surpass Chizuru and Mami easily, who are both annoying b*tches. I know already that I'll torture myself with the second season as well. 6/10 for this one. |
| I gotta say, RAG was an entertaining anime for what it is. Its a nice and enjoyable romantic-comedy. All the main four girls had their charm in their own way. (well, 3 main girls, since the redhead only appeared once) Some of the sxx jokes did make me roll my eyes, but they were tolerable. I did hate how the MC was just so weak towards the two main girls, like, one of them blocked you for no reason and makes you look bad, and the other one is just business! SO WAKE UP!!! Off to season 2 |

| Overall I enjoyed watching this anime. While it had quite a few cringe-filled moments there were also many comedic and silly moments. I really thought that either Kazuya or Chizuru was going to confess at the end. While Kazuya did come close he ended up choking and saying he wanted Chizuru as a rental GF (I think Chizuru knows that Kazuya likes her more than just a rental GF but she also could not confess as her feelings are probably more complex, like she may like some of his mannerisms and attitude, and his extended family like Grandma, but still has reservations on his immaturity and insecurities). I'll be watching season 2 very soon and I hope that it has more closure than this season did. I rate this a 7/10, a good anime. |

| This is an old-ass discussion but Idgaf, last ep (12) was a fucking banger, prob the best ep out of all of them so far I think. When he said that "you're the one I want", BRO! I WAS JUMPING UP AND DOWN MAN, I've already forgotten but I'm pretty sure Chizuru didn't get flushed when they were talking which was a bummer and when he said "as a rental girlfriend" or something, man. I stood up and started having a boxing match against a ghost, I of course won by knockout 💪💪💪 Anyway, I'm glad it ended on a happy note with Chizuru not thinking about the bullshit he said afterwards. The tension and shit I felt through the whole show was sum else, my heart was constantly having seizures by watching this degenerate kid being unable to pick a girl for 12 episodes. All 'n all I gave it a 9/10 because it was just so surprisingly entertaining, if Mami wasn't in the show or her being less of a piece of shit then it would've prob been a 10, though, you need bad to appreciate the good.  |
