a 5 minute recap which would feel kinda weird for bingewatchers, but as for a seasonalshitter like me it was a nice runover of the story so far
looks like in this case they try to catch even a bigger fish with Edamura infiltrating the yakuza which deals with child trafficking. quite a daunting start tbh

I scrubbed through every episode except the final two. So much happens, and while you can kinda get the general sense of what is going on through the visuals of course, without subs I'm totally lost.

Unfortunately the guy who first started subbing eps 1-14 has disappeared, so I expect a different fansubber will have to step up. No way in hell I'm waiting for the official Netflix subs(which are crap in comparison to much fansubs anyways), which I'm sure wouldn't come out until the end of this year, or early next year.

so hopefully the fansubs won't take too long...

Edit : i just Wiki_ing.
The Far East is a geographical region that includes the Russian Far East, Eastern and Southeastern Asia.,

Nice. Setting looking interesting this time. A bit more serious than the previous arcs. Of course with the usual comedy mixed in. I hope they are going to totally destroy that mafia company.

Edamame keeps getting fooled by Laurent, I even lost the count XD
There's no way Laurent would let him go so easily.

This arc is getting dark quick and I like that.

Considering how involved this series is with the underworld it was always in the back of my mind they might focus on this subject matter but wasn't sure if the show would have the balls to go through with depicting it.

And we are back with a new arc, Wizard of Far East, it seems to be the longest arc of the series so far.
Laurent remembering his past was nice to see. Edamura leaves for like the 3rd time already and comes back with flying colors, (Just when I think I'm out they pull me back in.), this arc seems like its going to be a big one coning the yakuza and trafficking. Can't wait to see what Laurent's past is going to be like as this arc unfolds.

Overall looking forward to see what this arc entails for the gang.

Nice try Edamura, but you'll never escape Laurent lmao.

Though that company trafficking kids disturbed the fuck out of me. I hope Laurent gang gets them good.

And it's nice to see Clark is in the straight and narrow path, but he's going to help them scam this shit company.

Damn, this episode got dark fast. I was just watching a documentary about child trafficking and child p**n being circulated in the dark web and it was very heavy. It depressed me so much that I had to take a break for a couple of days. This brought back flashbacks. Anyways, the good part is hopefully, Laurent is hellbent on stopping that organization. It was obvious from the get go that they were yakuza but damn.

On a lighter, funnier note. I like how they started the episode showing us a defecating dog and Laurent's morning boner that deflated as soon as he heard that old woman's voice lol

It was definitely obvious after a 3rd time that this would be another thing planned by Laurent, so I was scared the show would try to making a "shocking revelation" for Makoto again. Thankfully, this show isn't dumb and treat it as a normal scene.

And I gotta show my appreciation of the OST in the child trafficking moments. It never stopped, even after switching scenes. By doing that, not only it creates this feeling of connection, it amplifies the tension of thoses moments. The main reasons this show is one of the best of this year is that, different from most of 2020 anime, not only it knows tension is a must if you want to create something better than good, it knows how to execute those moments properly.

A nice 5 mins recap at the start for the story so far, we've been through hell and back with Edamura, Laurent and Co., and so, it's time to finish off with the final and longest arc: Wizard of Far East.

The brutal return to reality, and a renewed life (at least for Edamura)? Thought he would get away with it, but dealing with the Yakuza and child trafficking, that's a bigger "high-risk, high-return" activity than those combined in the past cases. And to be expected, it's all part of the Confidence Man Laurent's plan to rope him in, too bad Edamura you've got tricked again!

Excited to see where this arc will go to wrap up the entire series as a whole.

Didn't expect a recap, I really appreciated it. After three months it was nice to get memory refreshed.
As the rest of the episode, it was really good. Very tense and heartbreaking, it went by really quickly. Very promising start to the last arc.

The sudden recap made me wonder if this was a recap episode, but I'm glad it wasn't.

Lol. Laurent had a morning wood!😂😂 I never thought I'd see one in an anime. Though, I'd be lying if I said it didn't turn me on a little.

I didn't trust Edamura's boss, but it really shocked me when the child trafficking scene came.

I kind of thought Edamura would have to call Laurent this time, but this was also Laurent's planning.

After watching the episode, I am glad I didn't skip the recap.

I ship Laurent and Edamura, but I know if they end up in a relationship, it would be a heterosexual one. That's just sad. (I had found a webnovel where characters that are similar to the two guys here end up becoming boyfriends, so I'm glad I at least have that.)

It's finally on Netflix :)

That Edamura's boss was kinda creepy. Child trafficking... can they get any lower? It makes previous bad guys look nice by comparsion. I wouldn't be surprised if Edamura either tried to free the kids or just quit the job right then and there.

Knowing the series, Laurent & Co. will make a number on them, big time. Let's see where this is going...

Decent episode and start to the new, longest and final arc of Great Pretender, Wizards of Far East which surrounds human trafficking as the main theme from the looks of things, but given how Laurent and Abigail travelled to UAE to meet Clark Ibrahim (love seeing UAE whenever I can in an anime given I was born and raised there), who knows if there's much more to it than just that, especially for how long this case is.

There was a 5 minute recap of the story and the main characters at the start, which was weird but at the same time, felt like it was done the right way by him talking to his mother's grave and explaining whats been happening in his life since her passing. Kind of humanizes a human character like Makoto even more while refreshing the viewer about whats happened before. He tried to live an earnest life again by leaving Laurent and the others and moving back to Japan to find work, but got fucked over again by him as Makoto got setup to join a company that has ties to human trafficking, which agitates him even more given how his father was a lawyer who was involved in a human trafficking operation too. Feels bad for him there, but hopefully the payoff for him is worth it, especially for all the trouble that others cause him lol.

This will be probably the darkest arc of the show. That sequence with the little girl about to be sold at the auction was absolutely disgusting to see.

Decent start overall. Guess this case will hit pretty close to home for Makoto so I hope we can discover a bit more about his father and the reason as for why he ended up working for such shady people.

Thoroughly enjoyed this episode.

For starters, it was a great recap after not having watched this in months due to the hiatus after episode 14.

Secondly, the way he was conned into getting back in the game was fantastic.

I hope I'm not getting my hopes up for nothing. The first half of the season started strong but I thought it lost some of its excitement after that.

Laurent is just ♡______♡ yes ♡______♡ his morning woooooood

Feels bad for Makoto tho.....again.......he genuinely wanted to turn his life around. Someone give him a break alr lol!!!! But I laughed when he put 2 & 2 together lolollll

And then I smiled when Clark appeared!! He was so goofy, but entirely hot & likeable. Glad to see him again & this time on the same side as Laurent & co.

Edumura wants to restart his life again, finds a job, finds out that they trade orphans and sell them -> Lenart scammed him again LOL.

Poor Edamame, his 'honest' job this time hits probably the closest to him considering its what caused his Father to go to jail, can't believe Laurent actually managed to manipulate Edamame to do that job through subtle hints.

Seems like this arc is doing to be pretty dark and real too and I'm all here for it to be emotional.
