Only counting individual MAL entries, not entire franchises. Only anime that you've finished; no One Piece, Detective Conan or other insanely long shows that are still on the air. And when I say finished, I mean you have watched everything, skipping episodes is not allowed.

Mine would be Dragon Ball Z, with 291 episodes.

Naruto. Although I skipped most episodes after the "official" ending and then wrapped up with the final four episodes that leads directly into Shippuden.

Started Shippuden but man, the amount of filler is double and I'm having hard time deciding if I need to watch it or not.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood with 64 episodes.

I tried to watch Fairy Tail and got up past 125 but boi. It kinda went boring so I skipped out. Might just read the manga at this point because I have higher tolerance with reading long, completed manga than any ongoing long boi anime series.

Sazae-san - 7701 episodes and counting

It is the longest anime series overall, and DA HELL i would watch it, of course i didn't.

Btw, the longest western animation is Sandmännchen, with more than 20000 episodes.

Both shows probably have more episodes than YOU have days of life until now.

So you didn't watch it, why the hell would you mention it? Also Sazae-san has a third of that episode count, each episode is divided into 3 segements, they don't count as episodes.

For the lolz

btw, i'm quite disappointed because there is not a discussion topic for every and each episode of this show.

Well, except for the episode 6686+6687+6688 cause it is too important to be missing!

Naruto Shippuden at 500 episodes, 720 if you include the original Naruto. Didn't really read the manga nor understand the concept of fillers back then so I just watched everything. If I were to rewatch I would definitely sieve out most of the fillers though.

InuYasha - 167 episodes.

Oh man, never binge as much again...

2nd place is Black clover with 133 episodes and counting, but I have followed this show as when it aired since the beginning.

(I have lost count of how many one pice episodes I have watched long time ago.)

Probably Naruto if you include Shippuden as the same show and not a seperate entity.
Otherwise the longest running aren't even completed yet. if it was it would be Detective Conan.

I'm gonna say Bleach even though I haven't finished it yet. However if that doesn't count since I didn't watch all of it then it is also Dragon Ball Z just like the OP.

As with others i'm dragon ball Z, its hard to say whether ill ever watch something with more episodes than that.
I really only ever watch 1 anime series at a time, on occasion maybe 2; so I find long series both daunting and as a serious commitment (doesn't help by the fact I need to finish and cant drop a series)

I love how everyone is listing ongoing series' when the opener clearly stated that's a no-no

I'm a little too lazy to look through and find out which is the longest but...

That's about it. After Shippuuden I got burnt out by long stuff and haven't been able to watch anything longer than 24 eps ever since.

I've had a look through that before but I'm the kind of guy that would be well pissed off if I missed something that was important to the story.

I mean are the fillers like COMPLETE FILLER (as in Naruto) or is some canon stuff interspersed there? And do characters show up in filler that persist into canon episodes?

I guess I don't wanna skip a bunch of episodes and be like "Ok, I have no idea who the fook all these people are or whats going on?"

As I said in my previous comment, I personally didn't skip the filler of the entirety of Naruto because I didn't know of the concept, but I'd say that you'll probably end up more confused by watching the fillers than otherwise. Why, you might ask? It's because the placement of the fillers is simply horrible sometimes. Some of the filler arcs take place while a canon arc is going on. You might be in the most critical moment of a particular arc, and the next thing you see might be the main cast chillin in the village or on some other mission.

If you take a look at the site, it has the episodes divided into 3 categories:
1. Manga Canon 2. Mixed Canon/Filler 3. Filler
I'd recommend just not watching the 3rd category. If there's canon stuff mixed with filler, then you obviously don't want to miss it, so don't skip those (I'm talkng about mixed canon/filler here). (Now back to "filler") And don't worry about the 500 episode length, just skipping the (only) filler episodes takes out a decent chunk from the show as a whole, so that alone should lessen the burden by about 200 episodes.

Lmao naruto filler is junk, it has nothing to do with the main story easily skippable unless you're REALLY FOND of the characters and just want to see more of them. No ties with the story, no important characters introduced, placed randomly in between episodes breaking any sense of immersion you had with the ongoing plotline. Like someone mentioned above, use the filler list site and skip all the episodes under the Filler section. Mixed Canon/Filler should definitely be watched tho they're basically manga content but padded a bit to fill 20 minutes.
KINDA NEW to anime. If you're reading this, feel free to recommend shows worth watching in my profile comments.

Cheers. I'll stick to the CANON & MIXED episodes and just totally drop anything that's complete FILLER.

It was easy with the first part because it had very little filler until AFTER the
which was the end of that arc, after that I just stopped and zoomed right to the last 4 episodes.

But this second part, it's bonkers.

So, it would be Gintama

Naruto Shippuden: 500 episodes. And yes, I watched all the fillers. Like most people, I didn't really understand or grasp the concept of filler episodes. I thought they were all canon at the time. If we're talking about the whole franchise though, 720 episodes.
