| What is your preconceived notion of an "Elitist"? Through a personal anecdote, I've seen that the term often diverges from it's inceptive and libelous purpose, and has seemed to align with a distinctive taste. I find the label to be more of a mentality rather than a preference. My definition: An individual who believes that their taste is unequivocally superior and sacrosanct. "Elitists" also openly look down on others with disparate ratings. |

| I am. I am an aidoru elitist. The Idolm@ster is just too profound and complex for you dementia plebs. The orgy musical number in Kanashimi no Belladonna? Absolutely trash. Who handled the costumes? Who even coordinated that coreography? The center is completely off-pace with the rest of the stage. |

| There is what elitists are by definition, and then there is what elitists are in reality, or rather what causes people to become elitists by definition. And the answer to that is intellectual laziness, the unwillingness to defend one's own perspective on the marketplace of ideas. Perhaps there is a dash of low self esteem that makes one need to stand out among peers, having no confidence in his own ideas. An elitist doesn't merely talk down to others, he tries to marginalize and diminish the value of other people's opinions. Ironically, in anime, it isn't the LOTGH fans that are doing this, it's the SAO/Fate/Monogatari fans. |

Contrary to the misusage it has nothing to do with the content of their likings, but the attitude with which they approach to those who differ. @Luchse is one such rare and endangered specimen. |

They probably couldn't fit in some mathematically adept nerds' table back in school. I doubt that they ever even had a table at all. True nerds don't even take anime that personally, that's the dweebs' territory. Prove your adept math and science skills, then prove to me that you're not another dweeb in a basement. It'll take more than anime to be an intellectual triple threat. |
