THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
The episode opens in a new area, broken down, all these cloaked figures in a decrepit village in the Middle East, and then a flashback to the village, looking stable and healthy, then bombings begin to happen and start wiping the place out, then terrorized by soldiers on foot. Of course, it was to purge the land and claim ownership over a GR pyramid found there, for the GR2 it looks like.

Then, we're back in present day Nevada, McKenzie's corpse is taken in, Texas watching the soldier-medics from a distance, the reporters arrive, but the soldiers keep them at bay, the American leader shows up and assesses the options for dealing with the GR1's kidnapping, with the scientist saying to destroy GR1, follow the tracer on Daisaku and drop a bomb on the location if it's not recoverable, or extract the Avatar from the GR1, all destructive options.

Daisaku has a vision of McKenzie's death, conversing with V and questioning why GRO let her die while she was telling Daisaku that the GRs didn't have to fight meanwhile, denouncing her for GRO's actions I guess. Daisaku awakens in an unfamiliar room while the BFN reporters are back at home, mulling over the news hiding all word about the GRs with BFN itself is reporting on Ginevra (Geneva?) discussing nuclear technology.

At the base, they are looking into finally making the "Disaster" work, and be reborn, while Daisaku and the GRO guy are conversing, Daisaku speaking French (studied it for 2 months), they then travel around the city, with Daisaku in his a trenchcoat similar to his original look. Daisaku threatens the man with bringing out the GR1 to reign havoc, but he retorts that they are probably suspicious of brainwashing and are already figuring out ways of detaining it. The GRO man explains he's a mercenary, so he still isn't in on all the specifics, Daisaku understands that he did it for money, while he himself is wondering why he made a decision himself to get in the GR1. The theory about GRO wanting to unite the world under a single militarized banner is just a theory, not true according to the mercenary, who concludes that they will never be able to conquer the world, no matter how much power they have (maybe that was an empty statement, or a commentary on the human spirit?). The mercenary was trying to get all this money to save his son, something so simple but still human, though it in a way shows how people are at the mercy of capital and everything, risking others lives to prolong those you cherish with prejudice, but it seems strange that he would be able to forsake the empathy of so many others so easily for just his son, but maybe they will get into that.

The reporters still trying to understand why BFN has lead them astray, but it seems they're being watched. The internet is spreading footage about the GR battles on the internet while stations are all trying to ignore the GRs. The reporters catch some other journalists who leaked some of the GR battle and try to cooperate with them. Another GR has awakened is causing some damage in Asia.

Felt like a kind of passive episode, some bits were revealed, but that doesn't *quite* hold water with the mercenary and everything yet, seems like more will be revealed the next episode though.

Why would UNISOM put a restraining device on GR-1? Daisaku is allegedly immortal anyway, so it's not like GRO could do anything if Daisaku at least chanced calling GR-1 for rescue, keeping in mind they also want him alive for brainwashing purposes. Not even sure why he's following Hodges, as there's no escort or GRO agents ensuring Daisaku is still a hostage at that moment, so he could easily keep making a break for it until he comes into contact with a UNISOM team. Even at the airport, why is Daisaku not running for it there too? If anyone attempted to restrain him there, then there's no way they'd be able to legally embark on a flight after causing an uproar. Daisaku is far too complacent for the situation he's in, especially given he knows GRO are both a terrorist organisation, and the group that were responsible for Alex's death.
