Anime vs Light novel

So how close does the anime cover the Light novel ?

Mostly does it have the same end or a ending at all ?

Looking for a old school anime and don't want to start a old anime with 3 seasons and not get a ending lol

Light Novel is clearly better story wise. But the Anime is still great. Light Novel is a masterpiece compare to it's Anime counter part
