| (For anime only people btw) I dont see what there is to hate about him. He's reacting the way most of you people would probably react if you were in his shoes and an anime character. I stand by my point in saying most people hate to reflect on themselves as the main character and some threads I've seen elsewhere suggest similar, as this man acts like he's still fresh in high school and people hate remembering the times they were like that shanyecs said: the reason why i dislike him is he chooses to do things like keep going with the story that he is still dating chizuru to not make his grandma sad. in the grand scheme of things he's literally only thinking of himself and putting chizuru in a bad position. he's just the definition of folding under pressure, but the bar scene is understandable if you don't wanna go and make a scene. i def see why people hate him and why some may. | I don't hate him, it's more of a dislike. In episode 2, Chizuru already went to the trouble to help Kazuya with the situation with his grandma, and yet he insisted to go to his friends' invitation (which Chizuru didn't want in the first place). What's worse is that when Mami tried to badmouth Kazuya, Chizuru tried to defend Kazuya as her "girlfriend" and Kazuya is right there sitting around doing nothing. I feel bad for Chizuru and I want Kazuya to man up i mean he's an adult right? He's twenty years old FFS, people I know IRL who are barely even an adult have more spine than this guy. Also this guy likes NTR. |

| Bro idk I don't hate the dude at all, people want the main character to be exactly the kind of image they have in their own mind of how a main character should be. Take Accel World for example, people hated on it cuz the protagonist was a chubby dwarf wetpants. This goes off from people's idealistic of how an mc should be. Saying kanojo's mc is an awful character is not really a valid point as just because a character has realistic flaws that you find off-putting, doesn't mean it's a bad character. People like this exist, and there are also many who haven't been in such situations yet and would behave the same if they ever found themselves in one such predicament. Now all of this comes down to whether they can develop his character further so that he can slowly overcome his fears and weaknesses. Ofc you cannot expect the audience to like a show if the main character remains unlikeable throughout the length of the show (even Accel World's mc grows some balls by the end of the season) I haven't really read the manga so I can't know if such development is seen in the guy, but as of now I have no qualms. If it goes on like this throughout the season, my opinion might change. |

| Well, I am officially 9 minutes into the first episode, and the guy is sitting here throwing tantrums about his rent-a-girlfriend that he knew was a rent-a-girlfriend and hired to be his rent-a-girlfriend, y'know, *being* a rent-a-girlfriend with other clients and such, and is kind of implying that she's a bit of a whore at points because of that. He is being an absolute piece of shit, just straight up. Like holy shit, I get that he went through a first breakup that was kind of insensitive on his now ex-girlfriend's part and why that might bother him, but uh, I can't muster up anything more than a "bruh" for going on these kind of incel-y rants against somebody he's literally paying to pretend to be his girlfriend. And the way he introduced that relationship in the first place was just kind of like "lol me have girlfriend droooooool" so while I've been made aware going in that Mami is supposed to be a bit of a hatesink, if...he acted like he did during the few seconds we saw his mentality towards them as a couple, it kind of doesn't exactly portray her in a bad light. The blubbering crying after a relationship like that - where he recounted scenes that made it seem like she didn't seem at all interested in him to begin with and wouldn't even really stand next to him or let him see her back to her house - ending after a only month didn't help matters any. I *hope* that he develops out of that mentality. Like, I hope the show is aware that he's kind of a piece of shit in his own right at first. That might be nice to see. But yeah, no, I can totally see why he's leaving a terrible first impression. I'll be optimistic and keep my fingers crossed that it's on purpose. |

| Just saw the first episode and he's a a-hole imo he rented the girl because he was depressed, had a good time then found out it was all an act, decided to date her again call her out on it. She did research to make their date more enjoyable and he was being a dick then got her involved in a slight personal matter. This right now is the lowest on my romcom list, purely because of the mc. |
| To be honest i dropped this show and one of the reasons is the MC. He is not what i want to see in an anime(i am not saying he is unrealistic, it's just that i don't like him). Also the story didn't interested me that much because it's not what i was looking for. I started watching it because of the good art but the story and MC sucks, so you can say in a way i am disappointed and *hate*(dislike) the MC. |

| Kazuya’s personality is honestly pretty consistent with a 20-year old man(child) who is insecure and overall lacking in confidence, especially one who is feeling the pressure of sexual inexperience and lack of fulfillment in that area. He’s insecure, spineless, selfish, sexually frustrated, and immature, and I can tell you for a fact that these are traits that you would find in many young men in real life who are more.. Socially unfortunate than others. Anyway, it’s not like he’s irredeemable and characters like these usually do end up growing and maturing as the narrative goes on, which is most probably the entire point. |
