Something like Pupa. An anime that has a shit rating but you still enjoyed it way more than the others. Share me some of them and perhaps an explanation of why you enjoyed watching it?

Less than 7 is a shit rating?

I liked last season's Pet. I looked forward every week to the episodes in its second half.

Okusama wa Mahou Shoujo I dont know why people that normally rate shows high rated it so low. Its a good show, I like the premise and how it focuses on elements that are not normally portrayed in anime (and never in mahou shoujo) like marriage, divorce... The characters are also interesting and kinda complex. It´s not a super great show and it has its flaws (i rated it a 6) but having a 6 as an average score on MAL comparing it to other shows its so unfair to me :(

I don't know man. I tend to enjoy things until my score reaches exactly 5.0/10 so below 7 seems like a fairly high bar for "shit".

I don't actually think I've enjoyed any anime which MAL has put under a 5 MAL rating, so no...? I guess?

Kuragehime Specials. Of course, they where nowhere near as great as the original series, but they were a fun watch.
As for the original series, Fundanshi Koukou Seikatsu was pretty enjoyable. I think that it has a low score because it's a short anime, people have a tendency to rate those ones lower.

The Price of Smiles - an intense war drama, with an excellent sense of storytelling.

Black Rock Shooter (TV series) - psychological drama with a focus on metaphor.

Manaria Friends - a short series of slice of life at a magical school, involving a magical prodigy and a dragon who plays the piano.

Beatless - a philosophical consideration of the potential roles of AI in the future of human society.

Four Rhythm Across the Blue - a sports story, about a group of friends who grow through their participation in the sport.

Umi Monogatari - a story about human relationships, couched in a magical girl story set in the Amami Islands.

Rocket Girls - a (surprisingly hard) sci-fi comedy, thanks to technical advising from Japan's space agency.

Stratos 4 - just an all around nice story about some girls who want to go to space. Good mix of SOL, comedy, and drama elements. And best of all it features Melocure's beautiful music as its theme tunes.

I guess the show that I thought was well-done but had a lower score would be Dumbbell nan kilo Moteru. 7.52 isn’t terrible, but I think it’s a lot better than that.

I mean, there is A LOT of anime under seven that I enjoyed. Most recently, I watched Citrus, which I enjoyed. Although, I would put it at guilty pleasure level.

It had me invested, which isn't something I can say for everything I watch. The relationship was petty af but still complex. The drama was pretty forced, but I'm the type of guy to get hooked on your typical spanish drama though, so it just spiced things up more for me. I'd gladly take a second season if it came out lol

Underrated masterpiece, my top 1 for sure, of course, you have to be a degenerate to like this but once you understand it's meaning and what it represents, this is an art piece that belongs to a museum, to be exposed there forever to future generations, mark my words.

Photokano. Like holy shit did not expect it to be such a fun romance series, has some amazing confession scenes imo. Maybe cause the BD added kiss scenes to all the girls' routes which made it a lot better than the original but damn, it's been a while since I've managed to find a really enjoyable romance series lol

Mayoiga: I have no clue why people thought this was bad. I mean, it's purposely set up to be stupid, and it embraces that stupidity. Unlike King's Game, which was accidentally bad. Speaking of...

King's Game: I still remember how much others in the episode discussions and I laughed at how stupid and unintentionally terrible this anime was. This scene still makes me laugh:

One that comes to mind is "Asobi ni Iku yo!", usually known in English as "Cat Planet Cuties". At this writing its MAL score is 6.72, but I think it deserves to be somewhere in the 7.3-7.5 range (I gave it a 9 but a lot of that is personal biases that many viewers won't share). Sure, it has flaws, but they're no worse than I've seen in other anime that are at or above the mid-7 range. On the whole it's a halfway decent sci-fi/comedy with some action/GWG (and yes, it also has fanservice) with some clever references to western television, including an homage to a well-known Hanna-Barbera character.

I think the choice of English title did it a disservice and is part of the problem. A name like "Cat Planet Cuties" almost immediately implies that it's just a fluff/guilty pleasure kind of show, causing a lot of viewers to start in on it with their expectations set accordingly. According to Google Translate, the Japanese title "Asobi ni Iku yo" literally translates to "I'm going to play", and among the variants I've seen are "Let's Go Play" and the perhaps more idiomatic "We Came to Drop By" (the latter being a catchphrase during the show).

Lol. I came here to say this. Not that I rated it highly but Makura Danshi had some (unintentionally?) hilarious moments. I laughed so hard at the astronomer guy.

i really liked the synopsis and PV but couldn't watch it for the first few weeks and when i checked the score people didn't seem to enjoy it very much lol i thought about leaving it be but then thought about it some more and decided to watch it anyway since i was already planning to and that was a great decision, i fell in love with the story and the characters and every episode was riddled with twists and it was overall a great experience

That looks like the writer just packed a lot of cliched dialogue lines they know into one scene. *one second later out of the nothing* "Don't look at me!!" When you are a grown up guy, but suddenly realize you have to act like a shy 12 year old cliche anime girl. xD
And the whole scene, hilarious. ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป

Excluding OVA's or shorts since majority of them tend to be below 7.

Killing Bites
Okaasan Online
Hidamari no Ki
Samurai Flamenco
Robihachi
Granbelm
Renai Bokun
Hajimete no Gal

And I'm currently watching NieA Under 7. Really fun show, but I guess most fans of Abe and co. expected more.

Also Wave, listen to Me from this season. Tho I think it has the potential to rise above.

I think anime with a rating of 6 can still be quite enjoyable.Just because the anime has a lower score, doesn't mean I won't enjoy it.Actually, I even loved some anime with low rating.Ratings don't mean much to me.And they shouldn't to you either, you might be missing out on your next favorite show.

I keep reposting some of the same ones, though I recently added The Price of Smiles and Black Rock Shooter since I recently finished those.

I guess I should add more!

Dragon Crisis! - treasure hunters. dragon girl. multiple dragons. shenanigans.

Chain Chronicle: the Light of Haecceitas - I really wish this series were longer. It starts in medias res and goes from there, without a proper introduction to the setting. This could have been an epic if it were allowed to go on for like 2, 3, 4 cours. But as such there's lots of interesting pieces if you're into fantasy and don't mind a story that feels somewhat compressed.

Element Hunters - sci-fi adventure story. Supposed to be edutainment about chemistry, for kids, but also has nice character interactions and a solid soundtrack. Also the OP will help you memorize the periodic table.

@Maneki-Mew - Glad you enjoyed Umi Monogatari! You should check out the soundtrack. It has a quite distinctive style.
Avatar character is Gabriel from Gabriel DropOut.

Long Riders. It sells exactly whats on the cover; a group of friends discovering their interest in bike riding together. I don't understand what kind of expectations people have going into such simple anime that they end up low rating the series.
