Still, the protagonist is so dense that nothing happens at all. This story is more focused on the comedy than the romance

I'm not sure if you should watch it for the romance. I haven't read the novel so I can't say with 100% certainity that there is no romance at all beyond just shipping, but I've read the manga far enough that I know all events that will happen in the anime, and so far there was no romantic developments between any characters except for them falling in love with the protagonist, trying to court her and failling spectacularly because she's denser than a black hole.
Still, Catarina (or Bakarina as many of us like to lovingly call her) is one of the most fun female protagonists I've seen in a while, so I think you should give it a try and watch it for the comedy. If it doesn't appeal to you, then don't stick for the romance unless you really like the other characters and want to see what they try to get her attention because you will just waste your time
