I guess this will be a happy-go-lucky story after all. Kinda disappointing.

I like this chapter a LOT! Enough to find my old account and reactivate it.

Sure, some might say the character turning a bit edgy/loner is cliche, but I really like the way it was done. The character is actually analyzing his faults objectively, and why his own insecurities and fears pushed people into danger without actually overly blaming himself beyond that. He did not shut down, he wants to continue on the path he's chosen, but he has concluded that he should go on by himself so he doesn't hurt those he care about by putting them in danger he can handle but they can not.

I really hope the next chapter keeps this quality as Menel confronts him. I hope it doesn't just goes full "friendship is magic durrr" and actually have Menel construct a coherent counter argument. Some examples might be that they help keep him grounded in reality, that they themselves make the choice to stay with him and accept the risks, etc.

I do expect a menel punch to the head, though.

I'm a bit conflicted here. I absolutely loved where this was going, and at the point where Will said "I'm sorry" I thought it was great. Especially when Will kind of broke and came out with his frustrations that they couldn't keep up with him. After that, though, I feel a bit disappointed with the conclusion to this event. I was hoping that the confrontation would calm Will down, and that they'd agree that he should go off on his own for a while, but that he'd want them to rejoin him once they grew stronger. It'd give all the characters a massive chance at character development, as well as pave the way for real friendship build on respect and competence. I feel like this just kind of retconned what happened back to before they lost the previous battle, as if nothing was learned.

That's irritating. I really don't like it when manga set up something big like this and then resolve it in one chapter, especially when it's based on some big personal revelation. If you're going to do something like this stick with it.

I disagree with all the previous assessment of this chapter. I personally like how quick it's resolved rather than dragging out the emo story arc.. and if you actually thought about it, it's not too farfetched to have it resolved in a single chapter. First of all, if you're catching up to the manga like I am right now, you'd realize that almost every single arc is resolved in a couple of chapters, like, 3~4 chapters long arc, given that, it's not hard to see something mini like this being resolved in a single chapter. Second of all, you can't just simplify everything being resolved with only words as "talk no jutsu" or easy. William thought he was alone on this road, but Menel showed him that even if his strength isn't on par with Will, he's willing to walk the road with his friend.

For the person who said this changes nothing, it absolutely does. Will now realize he's absolutely better at combat vs the others, which contribute to him learning more about the world. He's coming in term with his own strength and that will help him massively when he's forming strategy. He's an anomaly to the outside world and he's learning to come in term with that. It is also logical given he actually took down the God of Undeath, albeit with some help.

I really wouldn't have liked it if this dragged on for too long, protagonist going absolutely emo like this isn't really my thing.

I'm glad meneldor was able to talk some sense into him. A hero needs his party!
