Tsubakihara is no joke. I think their roster has some reallyg good players in particular with strong serving skills. Hinata should be more careful when he goes on the defensive. It felt like he would get sent to a hospital with some of the plays lmao

Pretty interesting match though. Also loved the tense music in the second half of the episode with the score being close between the two teams.

They caught up, but opponent team doesn't give up.

lol @ main guy trying to catch the ball but ended up not using hands.

Showing nervous servers by both teams. Surprising serve, but main team overcame it immediately.

Miyu-Miyu's character finally.

Showing 3rd years' feelings.

Awesome episode, you can bet I was cheering the whole time.

It's awesome seeing Hinata react after reading the situation instead of just based on instinct. The best type of play is when you strike the balance between instinct and reading the situation.

The shot of Karasuno when the opposing pinch server realized the weight of the nationals was just too awesome.

Damn, I teared up at the end when there was that shot of the current third years when they just joined the club compared to how they are now. The match point was great.
So much heart in this show, I love it. <3

It was a nice match, even if the outcome was fairly obvious

Hinata is progressing at a really nice rate, but I'm still waiting for the jump.

This episode is very masterfully edited, and I'm not even talk about the high-quality of animation fluidity of the slow-motion action!

I kinda like Asahi more after this episode. Actually while I like Karasuno I don't have a particular favorite member, maybe because they're all so good. But Asahi is shining, go samurai boy!!!

But my most favorite character is still Bakugou... no Boruto.... No it's Bokuto hey hey Hey!!!

at first the match didn't really have that hype that previous matches did, but that last bout really helped make up for that

This is easily the best episode of the season so far. I wasn’t sure if we were going to get some backstory on the other team this episode but I’m really glad we didn’t because I really liked how it all ended. Now I just hope we get see some other teams play their first match of the spring tournament for the final two episodes rather than have Karasuno start another match and not finishing it.

I'm excited for future match after watching this episode, hope they make second cour high quality level and that scene of Atsumu saying who the hell is he though lol.

This episode was so good.
Karasuno won their first match of the national. I'm happy for them.

Sugawara stole the episode for me, even though he was there for a short time. That last score by Asahi was mad. Nice kill!

Sugawara, man. I love him so much. Also, I laughed so hard when he imitated Tsukki, what a dork. Also laughed when both Kageyama and Hinata missed their serves and the other's reaction, lol

Karasuno won their first match at nationals with two sets out of three!! The next episode is gonna be really good as well, I bet!

This match wasn't that hyped but this was beautiful. Specially how the third years were working so hard. The outcome was obvious but nice they won their first match.

You can tell in this season and mostly in this episode that the team is getting closer, joking around with each other and working better in their plays.

I also really liked the pov of the other team's pinch server, Himekawa because he showed how much pressure Karasuno was putting on the opposing team.

I also loved how they showed the third years more this episode and I hope we get more of that in the next episodes.

Hype ending, but let's be honest, there was approximately a 0.000001% chance of Karasuno not advancing here.

Wooow, that last scene was intense! Both teams are so amazing that it's always tense waiting to see who takes the set... but Karasuno is crushing them right now! Go, boys, go!

I just realized that after the nationals (whether they win or lose), things are never going to be the same for our boys; they've had national exposure now and they won't just be playing the small courts anymore. Everyone's going to know who they are.

This episode was superb. There would be so many qualities to state that I would take too long to describe them.

Suga's intervention was perfect. Kageyama was so badass just like all the other characters.

Very good episode, the game was really interesting and I'm glad they didn't end it on a cliffhanger. The emphasis on third years was pretty awesome too. They've grown so much!

I loved it, was a pretty good episode, the match was ejecuted fast but impressive! It was great to see Hinata trying to adjust his new habilities but maybe it'll take a little more time. Though the preview images made me feel too much excited! I can't wait to see whats going on next.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't find the animation a little lacking compared to previous seasons, but when all's said and done, I was just as excited at the end of this match as I was at the end of most matches in earlier seasons. And that feeling is what I'm here for. So in that metric, season is good by me.

Finally they are using their budget. Great episode overall,I hope they keep up this level of animation till the end but I know it's not gonna happen.

manga reader here and budget is never a problem, it's timing and ig studio are doing other anime too potentially could be aot as well this year and they are spending more time on second cour since it deserves best treatment unlike this cour.

waiting a week for this was so worth it. I really hope Azumane will one day execute a spike which deforms the ball as much as Ushikawa's spike or oikawa's serve.

Classic Hinata, taking balls to the face. Classic Noya, confident and positive all the time. Classic Tanaka, intense af. Classic Asahi, the ace. Classic Kags and Tsukishima with their mindmeld. And of course little shit Suga... I don't know about others, but I'm having way too much fun watching this season, just like I had with the previous ones. And pretty consistently too, week after week. So many years later, it's damn incredible.

Idk how to feel about those who only seem to be able to focus on animation and just complain about it week after week. Maybe you've outgrown anime or at least this series?

Poor Hinata XD At least he made a good shield despite the pain I felt while seeing him getting hit twice with his body, even if he got more from previous episodes. Even Yamaguchi and the one next to him (forgot his name) felt it!!

I don't know if it's just me, but the animation felt off at 18:16 to 18:20. The direction of impact from the ball didn't feel right... and also the spin Sugawara did preparing to serve left me in doubt.

The tension is hype which is great! Nice episode!

As expected of karasuno. Beating the first team in the tournament in two sets.

Is it me or is the episode on 1.25x speed? It just seems faster than usual to me, as if they want to cram the remaining match in this episode.

the next match can't get cover at all in just 2 episodes it will happen in second cour and this match wasn't that long in genral but I guess they did cut some scenes.

LOVED IT!!! Hinata is evolving. I can't wait to see him do a proper receive and blow everyone's mind! Kageyama❤️ cool as always. The boy is a freaking genius. I love how he is not afraid to be himself anymore. A king is a king! Can't wait to see the next episode. I think that from the next episode the real battles begin!

Even if the outcomes are predictable or expected, it's the process of getting there that I love watching when I watch this anime. It's fun to see the kinds of skills and strategies that Karasuno uses in order to propel their way to victory. The momentum from this match will be great for them going forward.

Awesome episode, as usual.

Although, fun trivia, that last quote, "Opportunity come to those who are prepared"

Which in Japanese is,
"チャンスは準備された心に降り立つ" is from Louis Pasteur, famous French microbiologist, who is quoted saying "Chance favors the prepared minds"

I guess translator changed it to a more liberal translation since it doesn't translate well into the context.

First round's over, and now they can look towards the next one. I was wondering whetehr or not we'd see the older seniors; I'm glad we did.

Obviously the outcome was obvious, but man that underhanded serve looked really cool. Overall, very very solid episode. Even though the art looks stiff at times, the animation was on point this episode in particular. Pretty good match against a pretty irrelevant team despite it being Nationals.

Production I.G was definitely holding out on us, the animation for this episode was definitely amazing, guess it shows why they put the second cour for Summer 2019

That underhand serve from that Tsubakihara player was definitely something new, was really good to see something like that

Hinata being a meat shield this episode while trying to receive was hilarious, glad to see that there's still room for improvement and that there's more that he's capable of

The current third years trying hard this match and their former Senpai coming to support them was extremely captivating, can't wait to see the future matches

AoT's production is taken care of by WIT Studio, Production I.G's involvement is not a huge factor to consider, but apparently, they're currently working on Noblesse, that's why they put the second cour to Summer instead of making it 24 episodes

LOL just how many times Hinata has been hit by the ball during this season? xD

Excellent episode. Those last few minutes during the last point gave me the absolute chills. Glad to see the studio can still handle those intense moments with the same perfect care.
