Meitantei Holmes Episode 26 Discussion
THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Episode that does not give credit to an anime that had so much potential as a "whodunit" genre, but that burns all the possibilities for a non-logical choice of the plots encountered from time to time. The only deserving aspects, in a certain sense, are in the Italian dubbing which gives certain now extinct linguistic pearls and quotations that elevate the dialogues. Merit must also be given in having shown a female role that is not dominated but active in the stories tackled. Excellent drawings, animations and backgrounds. |

| This series has been lacking in interesting stories but this one doesn’t even make much sense. The Prince hired Moriarty so he’s taking them to the ship where they want to go...so why is it so important for Holmes to foil Moriarty if he’s instantly on Elizabeth’s side about the elopement? Is the whole story just about Moriarty trying to get paid more than he agreed on? Elizabeth agreed to give up the emerald so why is the next thing the prince getting into a fight with him? What did the prince want to accomplish? And why should I care about Elizabeth keeping a family heirloom when she’s abandoning that family to elope? By rights she should have left it behind before the fake abduction. |

| I finished this anime with my sis last year. We both were pretty underwhelmed by this episode. Is there a reason why the anime had such a lackluster "ending"? Sure, it was VERY episodic in nature with almost no overarching narratives, but there was no true defeat of Moriarty or any send-off for the main cast. It just stops. My only thought was that they maybe wanted to do another season but the show wasn't that popular, but I can't find any info on the production aside from Miyazaki's involvement. |
