Shin Sakura Taisen the Animation is based on Sega's Sakura Taisen video game franchise. The sixth game in the series, Shin Sakura Taisen, serves as a soft reboot of the series and was released in Japan in December 2019. It is scheduled for release in North America and Europe in Spring 2020. The franchise has inspired several anime adaptations including a television anime, anime film, and multiple original video animations.
