I actually enjoyed Fairy Tail at the beginning, but after the tournament arc it went down the hill.

There's quite a few series I enjoyed that other people disliked, or at least as a lower rating.

Aku no Hana (7.17) This isn't the worst score I've seen on here, but most people avoided it because it used rotoscoping rather than drawing the typical anime faces. I thought it was refreshing and the rawness of the art fit the darker tones of the story.

Highschool of the Dead (7.27) This is a guilty pleasure of mine. I'm a sucker for zombie stuff and the fact that the animation is gorgeous helps watching it. The characters and story are cookie cutter, but it's a series I often rewatch.

Miss Monochrome: The Animation ( 6.45) I'm sure people lowered it a low score because it has short episodes, but it's honestly such a cute show!

This again? Okay.... i've seen the same type of thread for like 4 times on this month already. But oh well, guess it's fine.

For me i think it's Danmachi Sword Oratoria, the spinoff of danmachi. I remember everyone was complaining about how bland and unimportant it is, it's even at the bottom of anime trending polls back then. But, you know, i like Sword Oratoria, it doesn't hurt to have more Aiz moments in Danmachi. She barely gets any screentime afterall, so it's kinda nice to see more of her. She's basically the main heroine and the whole point of Bell's story. I don't get why people complain about her getting a spinoff. Sure it's boring to suddenly have the main character switched, but for god sake, she's what makes for Danmachi, she's bell's goal!! It's a given that we need to know more about her. It gives me more reason to support for bell on his struggles to catch up to her.

That would probably be Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ. I didn't love it but overall I did enjoy it plus it did have one really amazing arc. Also Victory Gundam turned out to be a fine show too.

Ajin

I don't really know what the people feel/think about Ajin. I don't have the sense it's popular or anything. But for me the character Satou in Ajin is just super bad ass. He wants to overthrow the government, treats with nuclear bombs and has some cool fight scenes with the army etc.

At the end of the anime, after the madness, when Sato said something & did something that ensured the viewer the madness wasn't over yet. I really hope to get another season where Satou shines yet again as the ultimate anarchist.

Sword Art Online (especially Alicization).

I also enjoyed Oreimo season 1. But it went drastically downhill in season 2.

I enjoyed RobiHachi. The entire series felt like the long lost brother of Gintama. It felt like an space travel arc from Gintama with Hijikata and Gintoki. And to put cherry on top both the voices of Gintoki(Sugita) and Hijikata (Nakai Kazuya) were present in the show.

Yeah it's not as hype as the first season but it's still pretty good.

I enjoyed Aku no Hana anime more than the moe manga.

Mayoiga, Ousama Game, Mahou Shoujo Site, Kämpfer, Rosario + Vampire (first season) and Val x Love. All of them with a score inferior to 7 and generally disliked by viewers, but that I like despite that. You can include Blood-C, Teekyuu and Killing Bites as well, but, from my understanding, they were relatively well-liked despite having a lot of questionable content.

Honorable mention to Highschool of the Dead, that is not as hated as the ones mentioned above and has a score of 7.27, but that is still a divisive work.

You did the impossible. Lol.
I don't even want to remember how I went through that arc. I literally thought of skipping episodes. But I didn't want to lose any extra content.

Ookami Shoujo to Kuro Ouji because well...yeh I needn't explain what makes it hated. Still loved it though

And Seikaisuru Kado as well. Like ok I can get how the shounen esq elements at the end were very off-putting from the rest, but it wasn't actually that bad. Plus, some of the visuals were really cool to watch

Also Zutto Mae kara Suki deshita.: Kokuhaku Jikkou Iinkai which gets hated because it's a very cliche romance but hey, that confession scene was dope though

as for the other people, maybe because the ending was kinda confusing, but since I played the visual novel first, the anime is actually pretty interesting to watch

Gundam Seed

Look, Gundam fans, I understand there's better... I really do. It was just one of my first mecha anime, which also delivered drama and romance. So I really liked it. Plus, it was when it aired on Cartoon Network way back when. Don't worry, I've watched other Gundam shows since then.

In fact, this was one of my very first few anime and was one of the catalysts got me into our beloved medium. Fun fact: Naruto also got me into it... but that went on for WAY too long and I missed too many episodes, that I just moved on.
"You know you've reached peak quality when a doujin is better than the actual source series." (I'm looking at you, To LOVE-Ru)

Just to list a couple of biases when I blabber on about them.
Likes: A good story, characters, writing, romance, a good plot twist or something that breaks expectations (In a good way), 'backstory', and small breasts justice.
Dislikes: Bad romance, too much fanservice, the harem genre, yuri, yaoi, and bad writing.

Maerchen Maedchen (5.42 on MAL) charmed me so much I wrote a 1600-word review on only the POSITIVES I found in the show. People were unfairly comparing it to genuine, soulless trash made in the same year.

Satou is such a badass. He's just smart and thinks on the fly in the middle of combat, using his only power (regeneration) ingeniously. Ajin gets passed up on because of the animation style, but it really makes good use of it and has a lot of great action scenes.

Gegegegege 2018 is really good but the fanbase is small and the rating has been at a 6.7 for at least a solid year now. It deserves a higher score but whatever.

When I saw this thread I was hoping I wouldn't see school days let alone that many people liking that abomination to man kind.

I cannot think I do but I gave lower rated ones like psychopass season 2 and log horizon season 2 10's and others that people thought were eh.

I would really like to be able to earnestly and effectively answer this question, but first I feel like I would have to have some sort of metric or way to gauge what is considered widely "disliked", OP. Are you going by ratings or something else?

Diabolik Lovers. People can say all they want, I found it to be rather hot, the series felt like softcore porn to me. Very nice.

Ninja Batman. I’m surprised it was hated so much. Like, are we even watching the same anime? It was epic af, I wish there were more mecha castle fights in anime. Also liked the part of Joker’s memory loss story where they used different artstyle - so good!

Shinya! Tensai Bakabon. Was it the artstyle that turned people off? I wonder... Your loss though, you totally missed the Poop Boys otome game.

And I already mentioned Juuni Taisen in the other thread. I’ve read reviews and people are calling it dark and edgy - like, duh, it’s battle royale, of course it’ll be dark. Also a lot of people here are seemingly having problems with flashbacks - why so? I want all flashbacks and backstories I can get and I’ll never get bored of them.

It won't. The anime decided not to include a character that is essential for the story to develop and end. Read the manga, it's complete. Prepare to be disappointed, though.

Cross Ange certainly has its share of haters. And I think a good number of people misunderstood Beatless by having the wrong expectations for it.

But today I will talk about Asterisk War.

A lot of people were introduced to Asterisk War thanks to Digibro's now-infamous video series trashing it. I was, too, albeit indirectly, since my friend talked about that video series. So I checked out the show itself, and ended up liking it. (Also, he gets some of his info wrong, and I don't just mean his opinions -- I mean his presumptions about what the story does or is about.)

The start of it is probably my least favorite part. The character introductions feel kinda awkward, and I didn't really find the characters all that likeable at first.

But there's a bunch of stuff going on in the background which doesn't show up until later. The story gets noticeably more engaging, tropey stereotypes start falling apart, and the characters' motivations become clearer, and so on, as the real "meat" of the story is gradually revealed.

I actually first watched the first season subbed but it felt meh to me. Then I watched it dubbed; I felt I was more engaged this way, and the world came to life more effectively. YMMV, as always.

I then watched the second season (which is also dubbed). Honestly it makes more sense to think of this show as a two-cour show rather than a two-season show, since the first season stops in the middle of a major plot event anyway. The second season wraps it up and presents new plot threads. And it left me wanting to see more. Yeah, that show that started off with the unlikeable and arguably tropey characters, it actually turned out to be interesting.

Oh, did I mention the music is great? Particularly the EDs. Particularly the first ED. Well, all the music except the OPs is by Rasmus Faber, whom I know and love for his jazzy/impressionistic harmonies.

(I'm still a bit more fond of Absolute Duo though. The characters just engaged me more in that show, and the music is similarly excellent.)

I just discovered Bakabon thanks to running into a piano score for the bossa nova arrangements of anime theme songs done by this one French singer (who apparently lives in Japan).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHxt3hLNLew&list=PL27EB0E66F8FA84D9&index=4

That's the Bakabon song.

Seems interesting.

Eromanga Sensei is probably the lowest MAL score to what I gave it (9). It was funny and I liked the characters so whatever.
