I may not be too deep into the genre but my favorites are Re:Zero and Elfen Lied, I'm sure I have others but these are all I can remember right now.

I don't understand why you picked tragedy or psychological, as they're 2 completely different genres. I think it'd make more sense to picked fantasy and supernatural. Anyway, to answer the question:

Tragedy: Fate/Zero
Psychological: Monster

Psychological: Happy Sugar Life (this one was pretty fucked, even Madoka didn't catch me this off guard)

Tragedy: Nanatsu no Taizai 3rd season (biggest tragedy I've ever seen!)

Holy shit. Someone other than me talking about Happy Sugar Life. I like you.

As for my picks...

Well, it's a question of what actually is a psychological anime. I'll go by tags for convenience but there are tons of shows which have psych aspects but aren't tagged. Anyway, my favourite anime with a psych tag is Ergo Proxy.

Tragedy is even harder because because there's no tag for it and people will disagree on what anime counts.

Using google's definition for tragedy:
"A play dealing with tragic events and having an unhappy ending, especially one concerning the downfall of the main character."

I guess I'd have to go with Fate/Zero.

Psychological: Hoo boy, there's a lot I could pick. I'll have to go with Lain for still sticking with me even after all these years with Evangelion, Monster and Paranoia Agent being honorable mentions.

Tragedy: I used to think that nothing could be more tragic than Madoka Magica, but then I saw other anime and boy was I wrong. I think the most tragic anime for me would be Now and Then, Here and There. It's not for the faint of heart.

The first story of Aoi Bungaku Series "No Longer Human" comes to my mind when you mention both tragedy and psychological.

No tragedy can ever impress as the masterpiece of Fate/Zero did.

Psychology is not my strong suit. For that I'll agree with you with Re Zero.

I second Aoi Bungaku Series (Blue Literature). It's a fair mix of tragedy and psychological and it's also very good.

Parasyte, Neon genesis and NHK.

All of these share a struggling MC who can’t cope with their responsibilities very well. Character development is pretty prevalent in these shows.

I gotta go with Berserk (not the abominations) and Monster.

Other good psych anime are: Ghost in the Shell (the movie focuses more on this aspect), Perfect Blue, Death Parade, Psycho-Pass (S1), Death Note, Haibane Renmei and others.

Other tragedy that I liked was Fate Zero.

If you watch both the show and the movie for Neon Genesis Evangelion, it can be labeled as both psychological and a tragedy.

Even Cowboy Bebop has psych elements and is a bit of a tragedy.

They're 2 completely different genres but can be related.

Psycological: Tie between Psycho Pass and Shiki.

Tragedy: Maerchen Maedchen was a pretty tragic production and I always cry when I think about it. But story-wise Fate/Zero.

Steins;Gate is close enough, right?

Also your lie in april.
If you're reading this and you haven't watched Mob Psycho 100, go watch it and then continue with what you were doing.

Also, for the record, JoJo is great, it's fans are not.

Well apparently Mirai Nikki/The Future Diary is a phycological and I love that anime so I guess that's my fav for that.

As for tradegy, Plastic Memories made me cry a lot. Banana Fish did too, although the ending made me pissed as well as sad.

Tragedy? Hm... I think Devilman Crybaby is one. Berserk maybe, too. For Psychological, Ergo Proxy crosses my mind instantly.

Just going strictly by the genre tags attached as I don't want to be charged with having to interpret which series are psychological or not and to what degree apart from that, since psychological is one of the genres where, like drama, a lot can be said to have some element of it, but it depends how much focus is placed on it. And all the shows I list as favorites below also are not strictly psychological and have other genres blended with (is there something tagged only with psychological label? I think it needs other genres for the premise to have enough meat to sustain it)

1.) Koi Kaze (also Drama, Romance, and Slice of Life)

2.) Haibane Renmei (also Slice of Life, Mystery, Drama, and Fantasy)

3.) Higurashi no Naku Koro ni/Kai (also Mystery, Dementia, Horror, Supernatural, and Thriller)

4.) Serial Experiments Lain (also Dementia, Drama, Mystery, Sci-Fi, and Supernatural)

5.) Ergo Proxy (also Mystery and Sci-Fi)

6.) Elfen Lied (also Action, Horror, Supernatural, Drama, and Romance)

7.) Kiseijuu (also Action, Sci-Fi, Horror, and Drama)

8.) Happy Sugar Life (also Drama and Horror)

9.) Aku no Hana (also Drama, Romance, and School)

10.) Kino no Tabi (also Action, Adventure, and Slice of Life)

Death Parade is easily a favorite. I think that's one of the only psychological anime I've watched.
