Personally very excited. How are you guys feeling about it?

"Netflix clearly knows its adaptation of The Witcher is a hot property (shifting metrics aside), and it's determined to milk that success for all it's worth. The service has confirmed rumors that it's working on an anime movie offshoot, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf. It's not saying much about the plot besides talk of a "new threat facing the Continent," but fans may like the talent attached to the project. The Witcher series' Beau DeMayo and Lauren Hissrich are involved, and Legend of Korra's Studio Mir is producing the title."

The series was great and enjoyable for me,so I can't wait for the anime to come out.

I just hope they don't mess it which i'm sure they won't.

I agree! I have to say Netflix has walked a tight line in the casting due to some characters not being the correct races, which I'm torn over. Some people think the director of the Netflix series, Lauren Hissrich, betrayed the source material by making Fringilla black, Triss black, and Yennefer Indian.. But I think it's much less to do with the race swapping and much more to do with the acting. Yennefer stole fans hearts because she played the role so well. But back to my point, I understand why people wouldn't want the anime to get all woke, or messed with, because in some cases the Netflix series has shown that it can backfire.

Maybe that will be a good starting point for you to get into The Witcher's universe.

I can understand that. And if we don't like it at least there's going to be more games. Win-Win the way I see it.

I have to add: I hope to god they don't use the samurai jack style of animation like what was used in TW3.

If netflix can get close to how they did Castlevania then it will be fantastic. I'm excited for it. But it comes second place to the log horizon news.

If they're going for different actors, I hope they go for people who actually fit the role well. Also, tone down on the diverse casting since they just went completely overboard on the T.V. series

More especially, I hope Triss fans can get the justice they deserve because damn I don't see or hear Triss at all coming from the actress that plays her

I'm really excited I didn't watch the Netflix adaptation yet but I played the Witcher 3 and the story and world building are amazing. I hope it gets the Castlevania treatment.

I guess it will be as boring as Castlevania.
Also why discussing this in an anime forum?

I've read the books and played the games. All that's waiting for me in adaptations is disappointment (as with the atrocious first two episodes of the Netflix series), so I'll be steering clear, of course.

If it's age rating is for 17+ or higher then it might get a deserved treatment. I think it has potential to be more fun to watch than an average magic battle anime.

haven't seen the netflix series but the games are beautiful and very plot and dialogue-heavy. a movie sounds cool, I just hope it ends up being great.

Um, so it is an actual anime, or is this just Netflix using the word "anime" to market their edgy cartoons, like Castelvania?

Ugh. The games are massively overrated.

Maybe it's better animated than the real series so far, that monster and the elves looked a bit... 80s tho. 😂
I almost always like stuff better as anime because I just love good art styles and animations, so I'll try it ofc!

People in Poland(which never watched anime because it's cancer) already write that anime is cancer and that anime must be fucked. And that netflix fucked the series and now netflix want to make it a "Chinese Cartoon". Why i must live in one of the most intolerant countries :/ I'm looking forward to anime adaptation :D

Korra was garbage and netflix's original content is mostly shit. Also can it really be called an anime when no japanese are involved? Mir is korean and DeMayo and Hissrich don't sound like japanese surnames.

For people in my country all asian animations are anime(they call an anime even Last Airbender) and also say anime is cancer and "chinese cartoon".

The games were already a mediocre bastardisation of the books (character and lore-wise) but as games they were highly enjoyable (mostly, the first had really shit gameplay): anything other than that has been sheer garbage, and I'm not even saying this as a great fan of the books either; they're fine but that's about it. I will stay away from anything Netflix on this, tbh, that horror of a series was enough to remind me of why I subscribe to Netflix once a year.

Studio Mir Co., Ltd (Korean: 스튜디오 미르) is a South Korean animation studio based in Seoul. Among other works, the studio animated most of the American TV series The Legend of Korra, the fourth season of The Boondocks, the Netflix series Voltron: Legendary Defender and Lego Elves: Secrets of Elvendale.

The tweet also confirms that The Witcher showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich and writer Beau DeMayo are behind this production.

Anime?
It's not an anime at all. Yet another netflix cartoon.

I spent hundreds of hours with the Witcher games, needless to say I am looking forward to it.
The world, the lore, the stories, I loved every bit of them. The Geralt bit especially XP

I'm a huge fan of the Witcher's whole world and lore, so I hope it's gonna be good and interesting

Heard about the Witcher but didnt know what exactly it was. didn´t know it was some medieval stuff, not even it started as a game (yeah, Im not that much a gamer). Thought it was just some series, And turns out as a franchise seems to have an interesting following.

Anyway, technically not an anime but might watch it as long as it looks something like castlevania.

Can we please stop calling anime every western cartoon that resembles the medium on its art style? I can accept it coming from IGN and such but here, on MAL? Really?

Its the same animation studio as Legen of korra so my expectations are high animation wise.

For the rest i am more than sceptical, they already kinda butchered the books with the first Season of the TV show, even tho i still have hopes for it there already wasted most of its potential given how great the books are.

Also its not anime, anime = japanese cartoon

You've posted in the wrong forum. It has nothing to do with anime. The title is misleading. The Witcher is NOT getting anime. There will be just an american cartoon

Well, as a big fan of the books I'm intrigued, but then again I haven't seen the TV-series or played the third game yet so who knows, maybe they just don't know how to adapt it right. I hope they have the fights be bloody and brutal and maybe tone down all the twirling from the games, since I love the action in the books and wish I could see it properly represented on the screen.

Shame it isn't made in Japan, though, I wanted to pad my list with it. :(

I'd love to see Henry Cavil as Geralt's VA. It could help him work on his voice (sounds great in tidbits, in prolonged conversations it can get a bit weird.)

Check it out, it's actually pretty good.

Maybe not the best if you're a book reader, or a hardcore lore fanatic. As Hissrich definitely does take liberties with the casting and the timeline of the show.

I've re-watched the Netflix show a couple times and I must say you're not wrong. But when we're with Geralt it's just... beautiful.

I loved the Netflix show on my first watch, then watched the cutscene movies for all 3 games and I must say that now I've rewatched the Netflix show it's really not that faithful to the source material. Which I think Hissrich should definitely consider re-evaluating for the anime.

To everyone complaining.

So apparently Chinese animation is anime but no one bats an eye.

But when it's American animation in an anime style it's "not anime"

Okay, sorry gatekeepers.

Henry as Geralt is definitely by far the best thing about the TV series. A lot of the other cast seems kinda bad though, especially Triss and Fringilla. And not even because of their looks, though I am not a fan of those either. Their faces just seemed really static and did not display much emotion. Yennefer was okay.

Agreed. Triss was just.. I'm not even sure what they're doing with her. But Yennefer had a bit too much backstory revealed way too fast and I think that hurt the transformation quite a bit but otherwise loved Yen.

Apology accepted. I'm glad you understand that the anime community isn't for appropriation by people that have no respect for what anime actually is and what the majority of real anime fans care about. It's good that you acknowledge this and apologized. I wish you the best of luck in finding a community for western animation that is more for you.
