I think we all know where her real feelings are, eh. Arata saying Chihaya's name at the beginning before the Opening, followed by the "I love you"...that was ASMR for me. I wish I knew how to edit that into a short clip and play it on repeat. And Chihaya's reactions when remembering/flashing back to that moment are so adorable. I know I'm in the minority when it comes to pairings if we're going character popularity polls, but I can't help but be happy with these last two episodes. Sqeeeee~

Desk-kun..No, that's a death flag to get shot down you're raising there. Don't even think about it.

This episode had some priceless funny moments, I just couldn't stop laughing. Suou Meijin is such a nasty funny dork. What he said at the end sort of deserved a tap on the head. His play style is so interesting.....but the poor guy is bored to death, playing these mind games and strategies to make opponents make faults.....and he actually lol'ed at end of the match. Pffff....rofl

Also dear Komano, oh la la, so cute, so so cute!

Chihaya stary struck, dorky cute girl can't make a difference between a love confession and the finals, Harada keeps popping up, lol....anyway this was the first time someone said something like this to her, on top of it all, someone she thinks is amazing, so you totally understand where adorable, clueless Chihaya is coming from... She admires Arata so much. Can't wait for what is coming!

Then the falling leaves scene, the crimson maple leaves, how beautiful. Such a strong way to picture deep love. Sumire's thoughts are beautiful. She understands how strong it burns......but I don't think she will be able to make him hers, even if he might get his heart broken. I feel your pain Sumire.....

Absolutely beautiful, CHIHAYA’S REACTION TOWARDS ARATA LOVE CONFESSION IS SO CUTE!!!!! xD: Arata’s love confession voice echoed this fan’s heart as well, so much that it won’t stop, so stunning: Chihaya is one lucky girl, she’s experienced how wonderful hearing the person she loves confessing his love to her, she so stunned with his words ( plus Arata’s intense match Harada really inspired her: that day meant so much to Chihaya: especially the love confession) so much Chihaya’s shininess and brightness reflect into her eyes what she feels in her heart, after hearing Arata’s words of love echoing her heart and soul (the cuteness of this scene is so PRECIOUS- even mentioned Arata’s name sprinkled her eyes with such intenseness):

Even though she may not fully understand how affectionate she deeply feels, she’s experiencing of falling in love with someone had awakened her for the first time): the way Chihaya was reacting towards Arata’s love confession makes a lot of sense: even though Chihaya herself doesn’t fully understand what she really feels for Arata at the time but someday she will realized how passionate her love for Arata really is ( and will only create a much more meaning for Chihaya to discover her affections herself then have someone else tell them: Kana now knows Chihaya true feelings for Arata are real, if she really is her friend, she should support her): so much that something new has just begun for her ( and that’s a huge impact of someone’s life): Chihaya feelings for Arata will just get stronger from here: the dove she saw reflects her inner love that phrase her romantic feelings of building a family with someone very special, nesting meaning having a baby: the glow she saw within the dove reflects the shininess that brought sunshine into her world): Chihaya will cherish this feeling that she’ll treasure forevermore: the romance chapter of her life just begun.

Later in the episode, Chihaya was facing a practice match against Suo and the match wasn’t in Chihaya’s favor, she even commit a lot of defaults that got Suo bored: even his words are hush, saying that she won’t become queen judging by her playing skills: come to think of it, Suo said those words to both Chihaya and Arata, to our two-bakas always dreamed of becoming the #1 in karuta since childhood, even with his nasty words, nothing will stop them to pursuing their dreams, not even the current Meijin himself. We will see how she reacted plus what she learned from that match as well. I’m so looking forward to the next episode, MORE CHIHAYAFURU HERE WE COME!!!!

Suou's play-style was more intriguing than expected. Worthy of the meijin title. His voice may be virtually inaudible, but Suou's words have impact.

You can't, huh? As in your life is great so you can't take karuta, the only thing Shinobu has going for her, away from her. Shinobu does seem to be a loner and have a pretty lonely life, so I can see that being what he meant. Sou probably feels similarly about himself.

Derpy Chihaya is my favorite.

But Suo doesn't say that. I came here to complain about that.

Suo says "narunayo", which means "don't become (a queen)".

Yet, Crunchyroll translated it to "can't become (a queen)". As if Suo said "narenaiyo" - which he didn't.

Avoidable mistake :/

The chihaya chant at the start with arata's voice. Literal asmr and chihayas face just shows it.
Her Heart literally Explodes everytime she hears the word "Arata" XD
You saw her she couldnt even speak his name properly "A. A.. Ara..." and her shaking hand coulnt even hold the pencil. She is so adorable and a new phase in her life opened something she never experienced before.
Loving these moments.

Suo set up the match to punish Chihaya for having a boyfriend That is why he said that Chihaya would never be queen because she had friends and a boyfriend. it was all about revenge against a former bride

Chihaya was out of it over Arata's confession until Suo's invitation came I liked that she was not sure if Suo was an idiot who failed university 4 years in a row

Sumire clearly wants to push Arata's confession to separate Chhihaya from Taichi

Got to love Desk reaching out for Kana

It appears that next week is the recap episode 15.5

@MyllerPhiem: He said "narenai yo." It can be both "cannot" and "will not" because there is no future tense in Japanese language.

@landofthekwt: There is another episode next week. Episode 16.

@sweetangie: The aka-chan scene! That's one more favourite scenes chalked off! But I am still waiting for my absolute favourite from this season! You'll know when it happens.

@Mori-dono: I am glad that you noticed it. Next episode's gonna be super sad.

@Kipo0007: My other OTP! I so hope it happens but what's with this stupid challenge he put on him!

@_MushiRock11_: So, you finally noticed why he is so hated by everyone in the society? So, now you know why everyone wants him kicked off from his high horse? So, now you know why Arata should have won and kicked his arse?

Anyways, imagine if Harada-sensei learned how Nasty-meijin treated his baby girl. All that Nasty-meijin thinks about is making an appearance on the TV! Such a lousy reason to play the Meijin title match, no? And he retains the title just by playing 2 months a year when Harada-sensei spent more than 30 years to reach this stage! Should make anyone's blood boil!

It can't be both. "Narenai" is potential, fullstop. It can be both present and future depending on context.

However, he doesn't say 'narenai'. You can clearly hear the 'u' vowel. It's 'naruna'. Maybe it's different in the manga?

But it makes sense depending on context. Someone here wrote that Suo doesn't want the current queen to lose her title, that's why the imperative 'naruna' would fit. "Don't become (the queen)!"

@Kipo0007 OMG, CHIHAYA COULDN'T STOP FROM DAYDREAMING (at home, at school, even in one moment doing a kauta match, THAT'S SO CUTE!!!!) just by hearing Arata's name only she felt like her heart was about to explode: her heart won't stop from pounding so hard, so much that she couldn't say his name properly, this is the first time that ever happened to her: THAT'S LOVE FOR YA, LOL!!!!! <3

@shanimebib This is definitely a life-changing experience Chihaya is feelings, a moment she'll never forget: a special event where Chihaya felt she was reborn: a wonderful experience where she's not who she used to be anymore: something new that even Chihaya couldn't explain the happiness she was feelings ( Arata had awakened those feelings of romance into her heart): that's new and true. Let's face it, she so naive to fully understand the emotions she feelings now: but surely when she saw the glowing dove by the window that's the symbolism of the light that cast inside her heart where she feels a new form of happiness into her life. Even I also really love this part of the series, it brought a new development of Chihaya's character insights into her deepest feelings of love towards Arata. I'm so curious what's another favorite part of yours, I guess we will wait and see when that scene finally arrives .

Not sure if Meijin is genuinely comparing the current Queen's skill with hers, or if he's salty about her having a boyfriend... or if it's his mind games... BUT I AM NOT HAVING IT. I almost fell for Suo-san this episode (although forever chihayaxtaichi...in a world of ships)...but I snapped out of it real quick. ... reading the comments in this forum make me wonder if it's more of a possessive thing? Like don't become queen so you can play me?

Also do you think he's sad about the NHK broadcast cuz girls won't see him?/He wants a gf?

Fantastic episode. Honestly I love these slice of life moments, which have been sorely missing this season :( Seems like Arata's confession clearly got through to Chihaya, and she's ACTUALLY THINKING ABOUT IT instead of brushing it off. Lots of nice moments like Kana and Chihaya at the window, or Komano thinking about confessing to Kana. Plus of course, Sumire feeling bad about wanting Taichi to be rejected :( Then the Suou portion was of course amazing! He's such a great character, and we see Sudo returning as well :O His "make your opponent fault" strategy to take fewer cards ... ah man, I can really appreciate that LOL. Love him in the manga and his anime counterpart is just as awesome. Plus, Taichi seems to have improved enough that Sudo has noticed! Of course Chihaya ends up losing, but that's to be expected, and she got a great learning experience (I'm sure) out of it. Would love to see some more analytics on the strategies that were used there. I wonder if Taichi will get to play Suou next episode ... probably not since Suou thinks that he's "competition" XD

First minutes with Chihaya being still moved by Arata's confession were too girlish to me. ;p The amount of captions was quite big and they disappeared in a blink of an eye. I had to pause the episode to read some of them. Good that Crunchyroll's mobile app has an option to go several seconds backwards or forward.

Suo is a cool guy. He has his own, specific style, but I feel he is a fine person. Too bad that those officials from karuta organization dislike him for his lifestyle. However, failing a year for 4 times is quite an achievement, lmao. A negative one, of course.

That ending, wow. In curious what Suo's words meant. Maybe he wanted to tell Chihaya that in order to become a Queen she must be fully devoted to karta and leave everything behind significantly?

Yeah, totally lol. For the first two questions, anyway. A part of me can't help but think that Suou-san's tactics and personality are very fitting for a Meijin though.

I feel like Arata beating him already would be "too easy a ride", if you get what I mean. Harada-sensei deserves it a lot more too in my opinion but I doubt that'll do the trick sadly.

Nah. Using "Arata" and "kicking arse" in the same sentence just doesn't sound right anyways.

But everything now will be on Kitano-sensei. He better kick Harada-sensei's arse if Harada-sensei fails to stop Suou-meijin from becoming the Eisei Meijin.

Well, one thing is for sure everyone will be rooting for Harada-sensei in the title match. That includes Arata as well. He may not show it well but he has mad respect for Harada-sensei when he is not playing against him!

But honestly, Harada-sensei had to give up an entire game against Arata for his now weakened knees. But he must win against that Nasty-meijin and avenge my Chihaya (and stop that jerk from becoming Eisei-meijin *and* retire).

I want to spoil it so badly but I cannot! But rest assured. Suetsugu-sensei has the power to surprise us all. When I was reading the manga, I never imagined Chihaya would be playing against Taichi in the cup final, that Arata will exit that competition so soon, that Chihaya would pick school excursion over a shot in the Queen's title, that Arata will face Harada-sensei and what more lose, that he would end up confessing right after that defeat.

This manga doesn't have a plot armor to help the main characters so it never ceases to amaze me. The only plot armor this manga has going for it is that Arata is yet to lose to Shinobu-chan. That's the only thing that still bugs me.

Oh, I love their dynamics and interactions already but that’ll definitely add to it if it does indeed happen lol.

Yep, I could totally tell Arata respects Harada-sensei. It’ll be interesting to see that in full motion as an anime-only in a weeks’ time or two.

Exactly, I’m worried he might just have to give a game or two in the final as well and that’s obviously never going to yield good results or a good indication early up. With that said though, he avenged Taichi once against the odds so here’s to hoping he can reproduce that for Chihaya’s sake.

I agree, and thanks for holding back on the urge to spoil. A certain level of plot armour is essential for most stories and I wholeheartedly believe that this series does not overdo it at all. I couldn’t imagine those exact developments too, by the way.

Tsutomu's train of thought was so cute even if I was spoiled months before this even aired. It was a given he liked Kana from like his introduction but still.

Suo-meijin's style is really scary. How much playing intelligence do you need to actually lure your opponents into making faults? And that with the little practice he has. I don't know how you could ever play against someone like that especially when playing as offensive as Harada-sensei. His personality seems very sleazy after seeing how he reacted to the finals being streamed at Niconico Douga though. At first I thought of him as being a very talented airhead just like Chihaya but I can't get over the idea that he's really keeping up an appearance for some reason. Even his affection of Chihaya in the previous episode feels fake now. He's just merciless.

It was nice seeing a new side of Suo. I always took him as a guy who never practices with anyone, but look at him! He's part of a society and everything. His playing style is really something too, baiting players into dead cards which causes them to endlessly commit faults. Interesting.

What a way to destroy a dream there at the end, Suo sure doesn't hold back with his quiet words I wonder if besides that shock Chihaya noticed the boyfriend part. Suo's playstyle is quite nasty with how he baits his opponents into making faults, curious to see how Harada will handle this.

That was an interesting match. What a nasty strategy lol

But I wonder what he meant at the end there.

And I'm still not sure what Chihaya thinks of the confession. She seems to have got it mixed up with the emotions running high at the qualifiers, so... is there still hope for Taichi?

Srry for off topic but I would like to give my feedback for this 3rd season up until at the beginning of episode 15. I'm gonna rate these show 6/10. I was like "what the f is this? This is a 3rd season dude. And What I'm seeing is losing. Jesus Christ. The first season I already see once lost. Then the 2nd season is still happened the same. And now the 3rd season too. Chihaya don't participate in a queen match. Wataru lost. Oh man. I watch many sport anime and normally I always see 1st season is a lost but starting from 2nd to 3rd season I saw win and win and champion (Haikyu and kuroko basket)" man I'm really disappointed. After a long wait since 2013 and season 3 I was expecting better results. But what I'm seeing is maybe MC keep losing and MC more training and Author more manga chapters And more money making. If it was me or maybe I was expecting something like Wataru win and face the current king and win the new title king. Endgame. The author just want to do it on purpose so more chapter more money.
Sorry just my theory. Just want to get off my chest. Need to speak out loud. Might offence someone but i don't care. It good to release what's on your mind.
