Just curious about the MAL community, I started watching anime regularity when I was 13, last year. What about you guys?
Watching DBZ when you were small doesn't count
Regularly, I mean there's a regularity:
Ex. 4eps per day, 20eps per week etc.

How old/age were you when you stated watching anime regularly?

I watched it at tv when I was in HS but there were so many series. Regular watching started when I was 20 and I finally had a laptop.

Those poll options are hilarious tbh.

I started at some time in 2011/2012 I think, can't really say for sure when. Which means I was around 23 by then.

I started watching anime regularly when I was 18 years old. Just 2 years ago. Am I a bummer? Before that I watched some random anime I heard were good (Death Note, Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, Bleach, FMAB). I got hooked up when I watched Naruto.

Started at about 3, regularly watched when I was like 9. My sister forced me to watch her vampire reverse-harem anime with her.

2015, so I was 21. Maybe you shouldn't have put so small an age range on the poll options OP as most answers here say they were at least 20 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I watched it frequently as a child. I couldn't really differentiate countries at that time so unbeknownst to me I was watching anime.

Later on I was reintroduced when I was 15-16 by my mates. I chose my first anime to watch and was hooked.

5.5-6.0 years ago (Naruto) when I was in my mid-13. Definitely >20 episodes a day then, I can assure you that.

I was 18 when I watched the Fist of the North Star ‘86 movie, and all of Elfen Lied. This happened during the spring of 2019. And I’ve gotten into other series since. (Prior to this, I didn’t like anime, until I saw certain episodes of Death Battle)

What an odd option selection. How can anyone manage to mess up an age-asking poll this badly?

I think I was about 21.

Used to watch it as a kid without knowing the difference between anime and cartoons, fell off it for years, then got back into it in 2011, when I was 17 and in my last year of high school, as my friend got me to watch Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood.

Summer of 2010, pretty sure I was 12. That was the summer where I realized I could be watching 30 episodes of one piece every day instead of playing manhunt covered in mosquito.

Ah the good old times

I guess it was in 2015, so I was 16-17

I started to watch animes in 2014 but I watched only a few shows this year (Bleach, Naruto, FMAB and SAO), so it doesn't really count as "regularly"

also you need to fix your poll

I would say "as an adult", but I still don't watch anime regularly anyway.

Much, much older than your poll options offer.

But I only started actually making lists and such in the last few years. Before that I would just binge whatever I got my hands on or whatever was on tv when i was younger - I am older than the internet -.- so that was the only option then.

9-12 I only followed Naruto on some random site after my cousin introduced me to it. It only had Naruto, so I think that's why I never thought of trying other anime.

13-15 Is where my kissanime journey started and I watched different anime but not frequently.

Only started watching regularly when I made my MAL account. Still watched around 60 series between 2009-2018, I think that's decent for a casual.

I started really getting into it about a year or two ago. I had watched things like bakugan and pokemon when I was a kid and had picked up season 1 part 1 of attack on titan at a local dvd store a few years before hand so I wasn't completely clueless to the medium. I was just kind of sitting in bed watching netflix on my ipad one night and just kind of thought to myself, "y'know what? I feel like watching some anime." I then proceeded to watch the 2003 fullmetal alchemist adaptation and have been hooked ever since.
If you're reading this and you haven't watched Mob Psycho 100, go watch it and then continue with what you were doing.

Also, for the record, JoJo is great, it's fans are not.

Started regularly at 10 years old.

But the poll is stupid. Why is there no option above 15 years old? Why?

By your definition of 'regular' Pokemon and DBZ were the first anime I watched regularly, 1 ep a day Monday to Friday and I never missed one unless it couldn't be helped (vacation etc..). I must have been around 10 or so when I started watching series like that instead of just watching random eps whenever I caught them.

I think somewhere between 11 and 12. I Started off with One Piece and that was the only anime I watched before the age of 13 when I started watching Naruto and many others.
