This time, they just added the word "series" to it: アニメ「メイドインアビス」シリーズ続編制作決定PV. I think it's still too ambiguous to say for sure, but I would say a new series is more likely than a movie anyway. |

That's because the first time they did it there was only one installment to follow up on, whereas now it's a series. As in a series of the TV anime, the recaps, and then the third movie. There's really no telling what they plan to do yet. |

| Considering the first season and movie together already cover 38 of the like 53 chapters that are out, I'm surprised that there's even enough material for another season. Maybe the last couple episodes will end up going ahead of the manga so that they can have a conclusive end to the current arc. Although it wouldn't surprise me if most of this season was unfortunately just the movie converted into television format or far worse isn't BUT goes at a really slow pace to avoid running out of material. I definitely wouldn't mind them going ahead of the manga to keep up the pace if they're working closely with the creator. Hell I completely welcome them following it up with a third final season completely ahead of the manga. Because at the rate he releases chapters (like one every few months) the creator's probably gonna get thrown in jail for like child porn being found on his hard drive or some shit before he can finish the series. |
| Let media producers to write the sequence of a great and long story ahead the source material is a "genial" idea, just like happened with Game of Thrones x A Song of Ice and Fire. No, thanks. For the moment, for 2020 and probably 2021, there is not enough material for a 2nd season of Made in Abyss. After the arc of the last movie, there is just 1 arc (far from the best one, IMHO) still in progress (i think it is near the end, but still not enough for a new season, maybe another movie if much). Then, after that, the production of the season will take at least 2 years. So, a new season of Mia is something to be expected only for the second half of this decade. Don't be anxious. *Why did MAL allowed this page about a so uncertain new season? Where is NGNL 2s page?* |
