| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Ooh, Somali should be more careful in that world. This is another charming episode imo as she meets a kid and developing a connection with him. Golem is still a fascinating character by observing his human-like behavior. The more I watch him, the more his character just seems interesting to me. Shizuno's assistant Yabashira also seems like an interesting character. |

| It's finally here! The early access release for Episode 1 made the wait for Episode 2 feel like an eternity. I'm super satisfied with the voices for the Onis, Yabashira's VA especially, fits him perfectly. Sadly, it does seem like the anime had to cut out a bit of manga content that was actually pretty great world building and setup/foreshadowing for future events, but seeing as how they'd need to cut corners somewhere in order to fit the 5 volumes worth of content into 12 episodes (which we can assume based on the PVs) I'm not too disappointed in what they chose to cut out. |

| Cute but somewhat sad episode. Man, world building in this anime is really good. Waiting for this second episode felt like an eternity. Man, that CG on the ending was really well done!, was that game cg? because it's thousand times better than the crap we get lately (I'm looking at you Dorohedoro) |

| That dwarf oni kinda reminds me of Gen from Dr. Stone and I'm surprised that the golem gave up a piece of himself despite him reaching the end of his lifespan. |

| This is turning out to be one of the most relaxing Anime of this season. I love it! Besides that, they did bring up the more sad undertone of the Anime as well. Golem doesn't have long.. Somali is one energetic kid, helping out Yabashira with all kinds of chores! So wholesome! The dwarf oni's were really nice. Even gave Somali a place to sleep. |

| Probably one of the best anime we received this season the visuals are great and the story seems to be taking a darker path. This anime is a pleasant surprise. |

| Nice, painful hint at the feels to come at the end there! It's a bit of a catch-22 for Golem though; he's dying so he can't protect Somali for long but if he takes her back to her parents she'll probably end up living a hard life because the other creatures hate and abuse humans. I really like the Oni; i hope they'll be in future episodes. Also, their house is my dream home; a little whimsical house in the middle of a beautiful forest... perfection! |

| Somali is the definition of protecc, a real cutie. New characters were nice and I'm sure we'll be seeing more of them soon enough. Feeling feels for Golem. The wait for episode 2 was killing me, but it was worth it for a solid episode! |

| This dropped today? Shit I wasn't prepared since last week there was no episode. I really gotta get used to winter's schedule. It's hard juggling 22 shows lol. Damn it, I KNEW it would be one of those you go, I stay type endings. Looks like the final episode will crush us all. Gonna be one of those endings we talk about for the decade. |

| I'm dropping this one. It's not a bad show, but it just feels like a huge waste of potential, and I hate that. I usually love this kind of story, but when I compare this show with any other like it (Magus' Bride, Moribito, Bakemono no Ko, half of all Ghibli movies, etc) it just feels inferior in every single way. Why is it that all those other works feel unique and original, and this one feels so bland? I like the art, it is actually good, but: 1) The bits of exposition were really bad in both episodes so far 2) Dialogue and writting are generic and eye-rollingly predictable (especially the golem) 3) The voice acting for both MCs is not a good match for the setting. It feels generic for such a wondrous world (IMO) 4) Did they REALLY have to SPELL OUT that the golem was dying? Are we that stupid? 5) Most important: it didn't make me care about either of the MCs yet. I just don't I mean, just watch the "The Girl from the Other Side" short OVA and you'll see what I'm talking about. It feels more realistic, more heartwarming and the atmosphere more foreboding. They manage to accomplish so much more in just 10 minutes, with minimalistic art and no dialogue at all. Why can't this show be at least as good as that? |

| The Golem is my favorite character so far. His choice of words makes me chuckle every time. Sad to know that he is slowly dying though. I think we will see more of the Oni(s) because they appear in the anime poster |
| Me first episode: This won't send me through an emotional spiral right RIGHT? Me after episode 2: Oh no, this is going to make me emotional in the future. This show is really really good. I hope everything works out for Somali because being a young human alone in a world that eats humans is terrifying. |

| amazing episode, I like Shizuno and Yabashira, probably because they have a nice personality ^_^ I feel sad for Golem because he is 1,000 years old and only has a year and 112 days left But maybe something will change that, to wait and see the next episodes ^_^ |

| My thoughts were confirmed this episode. Feel like we're going to get a sad ending with his lifespan about to be reached. ;/ Especially since we've seen such a cheerful attitude from Somali so far, feel like it's gonna be pretty sad. |

| Another beautiful episode, so many good moments. When Golem talked about never wanting to see the face again Somali made when she got hurt- my heart. Also, really liked the two Onis, great characters. | Really liking how the atmosphere is being handled so far and the new characters, Shizuno and Yabashira, seem to be a great addition to the cast as well. Hope we can see them again during the season. Quite heartwarming second episode with some ominous hints of what might happen later on. Let's see what this show can offer in the emotional department. |
| This is not the type of anime i usually watch but i'm completely on board, probably my favorite of the season so far. The world building, the art direction and the score is top notch, the characters are compelling. Somali and the golem are opposite in some ways, while she experiences and understands life on impulses and feelings the golem sees everything from an analatical way based on the data he collects but got are allmost clueless in the world that surrounds them. |
| At the end of the first minute my thoughts were 'oh boi, not right now', but in the talk of the golem with the oni, when he said how much time he has left I dropped some tears, and we're not even close to the end of the series. Not sure if I can take the hit of the final episode. Somali still is the girl you wish you have, cute as always. |

| Seems like my fears are officially confirmed, the Golem's lifespan is indeed drawing near to its end. Exactly a 1000 years, wow. Definitely going to head for a tear-jerking finale, I'm calling it now. I feel like the Dwarf will try to come up with something but to a futile case at the end, or something of the sort. Honestly, I can't even imagine how many buckets of tears I'll weep when seeing Somali struggle to come to terms with his demise but let's just leave this at that for now. Somali really is a cutie-pie though. So wholesome watching her just being herself. Mad props to the VA too! Fridays really are the best this season, it seems. Shizuno and Yabashiro are really fun company, here's to hoping we'll see more of them in the future episodes! The Golem revealing that Somali's tear gave him a little heartbreak was the best moment of the episode for me though, he really is a kind Golem through and through. 1 year and 112 days... |

| As Golem the Forest Spirit guardian is chipped away of its lifeblood more and more, Somali is experiencing more of the wildlife with Dad. Encountering Elf Shizuno and Oni Yabashira in their home is quite the fiddle, making medicine to heal bodies, but with a reason to keep others alive before his life passes on. Watching Golem's life of a thousand years...having lived with only 1 year and 112 days to go, the race to find Somali's parents while he is still alive, is a cruel fate, a journey to say goodbye, without a child's know-how of a simple mind. This journey will be one full of tears, that's for sure. That is amplified more with Daisuke Ono's spectacular VA performance with Inori Minase's childlike VA adorableness. Only Episode 2, and I already am sold with my heart melted to the core. |

| This episode was VERY heartwarming and sweet. Somali's endless energy never fails to put a smile on my face. =D The introduction of the two Onis, Shizuno and Yabashira, was great and they're kind enough were kind to help Somali and Golem with medicine as well as making delicious sweets. I'm craving for a cake now. XD However, this episode did have a moment of sadness when after Somali was asleep in the bedroom upstairs, Golem revealed to Shizuno and Yabashira that he was fast approaching the end of his life, at an astonishing 998 years old. He has a little over a year left before he hits 1,000. It makes full sense as to why he wants to find Somali's parents before the end of his life. It's also given me a sad feeling that Somali might learn about this and if so, I imagine the feels train making it's appearance to guarantee me in tears by the end of the series. =( For now, I want this happy atmosphere to continue for a while longer, since Somali's smile is too precious. =3 |
