sorry to bust your bubble but, no it keeps getting worse. but maybe you'll like it for some reason.
I dont know I have a few friends who have been quite critical of the series as of late that really liked some of the recent stuff, I have heard some not great things about stuff in between but I'll cross that bride when I get there. Its not like the series has gotten bad to the point where I cant take it anymore, its more like it went from something I really saw myself loving to just kind of being entertained by, so it has ample time to win me back especially since there is alot I am interested in for the long term how they handle stuff.

Yup.. Pretty much summed up my thoughts. I just dont really feel invested into this arc at all. It just does not click with me. Biggest reason might be Overhaul. I just think hes super uninteresting with lacking motives. Even Stain which had much less build up was in my opinion ten times more interesting. To be honest Season 2 in general was just much superior even compared to season 3 in my opinion but season 4 has to be the weakest of them all so far.
This arc felt like it was trying to experiment and flesh out the series more through a fresh lens of both new ally characters and a fresh villain crew, I guess it might have given me and you are not the overall sentiment, but I cant help but feel, but I cant help but feel like Overhaul the more I sit on it was the thing that broke the camel's back. I'll be completely frank, I think hes a bad villain, he has absolutely no depth to his motivation and I think outside of his introduction which I actually found quite strong, he does very little to establish himself as a threat nor really provide much in way of any entertaining character quirks that could make up for it. He feels like he exists solely cause they needed a villain here and not cause they actually had something interesting there.

A good villain goes a long way, and I think if overhaul was better he could of carried the arc for me, I really think this has been the issue with academia in general for me, the villain just dont really do it for me cause it always feel like they lack threat and don't really have much to them past surface level stuff, I really adore the idea of what they are doing with shigaraki being a parralel to deku but I feel like they have been long overdue to really establish him as the main antagonist ultimate enemy he is. With the sole exception of the scene where he and deku meet at the mall, that part was legitimately great, tense, established a clear contrasting rivalry between hero and villain, and was all-around memorable, but that is like 1 single moment and the overall league of villains just feel lackluster to me. I really just wish this arc was more to build them up as a threat more so than just having them sort of take a side role for this one arc jobber that was overhaul.
like i said, some people might like it. but i kinda dropped mha after the villain arc. but to each their own. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Very interesting choices of insert songs to say the least. Well 100% Deku is stupid OP but that's to be expected. How come Eri's quick fails to cause any damage to Deku at this moment and only perfectly heal his injuries, when she's supposedly can't control it and is known to completely erase people with it? Also someone should have died from this. Idk why they are leaving Nighteye alive. Dude got speared by like a 6 inch diameter rock.

i dont mind flashbacks as long as they're not in the climax of a fight

i love the overhaul arc the only problem i have is all those flashbacks breaking up one fight into like 10 different pieces

it ruins the mood

and also the fact that Nejiro didn't play a more prominant role like Mirio and Tamaki. I love them both, but I want my girls to have some spotlight too man

For all the hype they were building up this episode sure as hell felt disappointing... I don't really know how to put it but it doesn't makes you emotional like some of the previous big fights in the series such as deku vs muscular does.

thats because we get to watch izuku vs muscular in one go, while the fights in s4 are all broken up

Wow! Isn't there a lace to vote the episode 10/5 !! Awesome episode. The smile of nighteye at the end :) Also, I haven't read the manga but I think experiencing onr for all 100% for so long will increase his limit.

"i want to save everyone" fuck this dude deku and his stupid hero syndrome and this whole thing reminded me a lot of when he saved that kid from the muscle dude in the previous season.
It seems like the situations keep repeating themselves.

I really hope this dude tastes a big-time lost to make him more humble at this point he is cocky as fuck and it gets annoying.

Well, that was disappointing. I´m a BIG Hero fan, i thought about crying after the episode ended because it was such a disappointment. I looked forward to this exact episode since ive read it in the manga..... and they ruined it completely. The music choices were awful, where are my godlike track like YouSayRun? or one of the versions of it. One of those really hyped up tracks that make you want to go all out and scream, where were they? Fk these holy angel vocals at the end. THAT was absolutely not MHA like. They felt so out of place, it ruined everything for me. The song when Eri tried to grab the cape didnt resonate with me personally too, but I wont judge that because i can see this being something fit for the scene and to a scale My Hero-esque. But again, another point that was just a letdown. Now the Animation...

What is there to say... on a Studio Bones level its probably a 7 or an 8/10.
I expected them to go all out for this one episode, which they didnt.

YES there were f*ing awesome moments ... but thats it. Those moments consisted of around 5-20 seconds each and happened maybe 3-4 times sprinkled throughout the episode. I wanted a Fight SEQUENCE which they should have stretched out, and not 3-4 single moments, even if they were animated nicely. I hope you peeps can understand my standpoint to a degree. (Let me tell you my dissatiscfaction in numbers like this: 60 % did the Music ruined the episode for me, 25% the Animation and 15% the pacing. It was mainly the music.)

The Pacing.... sigh... Its hard for me to explain without spoiling it for anime onlys but i will try my best, so dont be afraid to read this paragraph.

They adapted, once again, 3 chapters this episode. I anticipated 4 and i wanted 4. Now i know i said i wanted them to stretch out the fight scene, but i also wanted them to improve the pacing. Is that a contradiction? Well yes, but actually no. I wanted them to stretch out the fight scene, but reduce the talk within the fight scene and cut out details that are not important. If you peeps dont want these details cut out, which i truly can understand and appreciate, then WHY, for gods sake WHY couldnt they cut out the OP and ED+ Preview this episode to make room for 4 more minutes?

Because they decided not to. And that is why i am upset too. Its not uncommon to cut out the OP and ED entirely for an important episode (e.g. OPM ep 12 etc). Why did i wanted them to adapt 4 chapters? Because now my calculation about where the anime lets off in episode 24 is different from what i anticipated, and that makes me sad, truly sad. I wanted certain things to get animated at the end of this season. But now i know that this was the season finale and i am left off with a feeling of disappointment.

Feel free to discuss! I am just heavily frustrated... I am by no means a Hero Hater. (Its not one of my favorites too, but it definetly has a special place in my heart).

Upon rewatch this episode may grow on me or not. I definetly hope it will. Have a good day guys and thanks for your time reading this negative review, i truly appreciate that and hope i havent affected some of you in a negative way.
I'm just glad I wasn't the only one who thought like this watching this episode. Great review.

Amazing episode with these revelations!

The moment Izuku catches Eri in the air with the OST is sad. And the fight between Izuku and Chisaki is CRAZY! What a treat!

Never posted on a specific show's board before, and I know I'm a day late, but I ain't got nothing better to do.

Anyway, this episode was a wild ride. I can't believe our boy went Super Saiyan.
Some of you never watched Bakugan Battle Brawlers on TeleToon in 2008 and it shows.

Am i the only one who feels really annoying by the fact that midoriya keeps stealing other victories and moments? Like fuck couldn't mirio be the one who saved eri why does midoriya always have to be the one ?

I start disliking the progression of this character i cannot understand why he even has so many fans he is just a shitty punk with a hero syndrome.

So far it's definitely the worst arc in the whole anime. Deku repeats non stop only one pathetic text throughout the whole series. Where's his character development?

It ended up too quickly. I don't like the abruptly placed flashbacks. It kind of destroyed the flow? To put it in the shortest manner, it didn't give me the same (or near) emotion as All Might vs Noumu. The sakuga is as expected and really was a bliss, there's no arguing that. But yeah, compared to Bones' previous creations, this fight is inferior.

Much more fight time it would had been better, but I guess it was a good production job, it seems they did their best can here. I loved the soundtrack. But anyway I am too much more hyped by Haikyuu than this one.

Why don't you guys just drop the show since it's so fucking shit? It's literally 76 episodes in, if you hate it so much just give it a rest.

Also, when it comes to popular series, why does everyone suddenly become critics? I feel like everyone tries to analyze and nitpick everything wrong with an episode, instead of just watching the show to enjoy it. It's like how Demon Slayer in the earlier episodes everyone just watching for fun, but then when episode 19 hit and it started really getting popular now there's a ton of people critiquing it..

I don't know, maybe I just find it weird how everyone focuses on figuring out what's wrong with a freaking television show instead of watching something if it's somewhat enjoyable to you, if not, just stop watching lol..

Yikes that english song was so out of place and loud. Completely destroyed the scene for me and i prayed for it to end.

Such a disappointing season. The pace was bad (this arc had pacing issues in the manga too infact it was even worse), animation was nothing but a shadow of the previous seasons (some parts felt like powerpoint slideshow lmao) and average at best fights. Honestly even Fatgum's fight was better than this "Main fight" of the season. I can understand why mangaka of bnha Horikoshi said that he disliked drawing and writing this arc

Yeah I agree didn't even realize the song but there fights were totally underwhelming

Yes I agree I except I would give my disappointment levels at 50% pacing 10% animation 15% music and 25% to flashbacks I know this could fall under pacing but I still had to say it

My only problem with this ep was the constant flashbacks. Other then that I loved it. Although having Eri's power be rewind is kinda like Orihime in Bleach. Where for like 150 eps we just assumed her power was healing but it actually rewinds time to heal. Kinda same thing but it seems that Eri's power has a downside as well to where she might accidently erase you from existence lol.

what is this? Akira no Hero? XD

real talk though this was hands down a top 3 fight in the series. Deku looks so badass in this form and the relationship he has with Eri is very heartwarming. I assume Lemillion will get his quirk back now and nighteye will be saved. I have mixed feelings about this though. While i'm super pumped we'll likely be seeing more Lemillion fights in the future, I think him losing his quirk would have been a strong plot point for this arc and Lemillion's character as a whole.

I always like these kinds of villains who have a strong resolve and a misguided yet not totally immoral world view. Chisaki and Stain will go down as some of the best villains in anime

Holy fuck, this episode was intense, now I felt the emotions, surely, animation gives you a different perspective of a scene, because last episode fight and this episode fight were hugely different. I have to accept that the animation was awesome, ost was awesome and the fight was awesome, surely what I’ve been expecting from the last 2 episodes.

*Sigh*

My gut was right.

This arc has been a disappointment. It moved at an abysmal rate. The anime is trying too hard to make me cry for an unearned moment with Eri and Deku (why should I care about Eri more than I cared about Kota? At least Kota had personality. At least Kota actaully put his neck on the line and did something to help out! Shigaraki once again hasn't manage to accomplish anything). Why kill off Nighteye if you're just going to bring him back the next episode? No, don't give me that "regeneration" crap; he suffered catastrophic bleeding, both internal and external. His mind should have died of oxygen loss within five minutes. There's no way that the events of the four episodes occurred in only five minutes. Why even introduced prophecy/future sight as a plot point if you're just going to invalidate later anyway?

I really liked this episode. I loved the detail that went into Deku's design while using 100% of OFA; my guy went super Saiyan while carrying a loli

This episode was super good. Everything about it from the animation to the emotion to the fight and character designs. Deku looked amazing. Wish his hair was like that more often honestly.

Anybody know of any anime with a lot of scenes like the one where he catches Eri? I felt like I just got sucked into that scene with the music choice and the otherwise silence and I just love when shows make me feel like that so I'm wondering if there are any shows with that kind of feeling semi-often.

Banger episode although the scene when Eri jumps and you hear that music was so awkward, should've used another soundtrack in there. Also if All for one gets Eri's quirk the universe is over.

After reading a lot of other people's thoughts, seeing some complaints, and rewatching the episode a few times, I get it now.

The first time I watched this episode, I was looking for that extremely cool, triumphant music hype point that my hero's excels at. Because of this, I left it with kind of an empty feeling, but now I realize I was wrong in even looking for that.

The directors still got it, as proven by the scene where Midoriya boosts his entire body to 100%, the music was top notch and supposed to be super hype! But after that smash, its wasn't hype anymore, and that's what left a lot of people here confused, including me. But since the directors are still top notch at what they do, then what were they trying to accomplish here here?

It switches from Deku's perspective to mainly Overhaul's perspective after that kick. A flashback comes out of nowhere relating to Overhaul, and as he's flying through the air and in the fight's final moments, we mainly hear his inner monologue while the only thing related to deku we see are his glares and movements.

It's all accompanied by eerie music and it feels... Unfitting. Like the directors had no idea what they're doing. But now that I get it, it carries a much bigger emotional impact with it. It's from the perspective of the villains, not the heroes, and the roles have been turned around, and it's not supposed to be hype... It's supposed to be fucking terrifying.

Midoriya absolutely looks terrifying right before that final punch, and Overhaul looked terrified. Besides that, those gigantic punches were most likely to demonstrate how overwhelmed Overhaul felt in that moment, he had worked so long for his plan, long and hard to perfect the drug, and now it's all being blown to pieces in mere seconds by someone who's not even a certified hero yet.

The anime was trying to show what it's like being the villain in moments like these. We've seen the heroes fights and their perspectives, but this time, it was all centered more around the villains, and that's exactly what's conveyed here, and I think they did that masterfully.

If you still don't understand this, switch the roles of Overhaul and Deku and the scene, and see if the music still makes sense.

Anyway this was my semi-analysis. I hope people can appreciate this episode more for what it is now!

The dynamics for MHA keeps getting better and better, now with Deku, the infinite 100% One for All version vs. Overhaul.

HAH Mr. Compress, Toga and Twice helping them sure is a blessing in disguise. But for Eri, her Quirk, much more than its insane rarity, similar to Overhaul, the power to rewind time.

The music choice when Eri jumped into Deku's arms was somewhat haphazard (like full-blown emotions), but in the long-run, it's a victory part-thereof for the heroes, especially when Deku is the only enemy left for Chisaki to bring down. With Nighteye's fate, they'd fail, but they're not putting down without a fight, to twist to a better fate.

For Deku, his one-in-a-million moment to save Eri had come. A curse for Chisaki, but a blessing for Deku as her rewind powers are able to compress his body-damaging One For All, to go infinite without being life-endangering to its post-effects. Dangerous and deadly the high risks of "going beyond, plus ultra!", but he did it without breaking an arm and a leg.

But to understand Chisaki's proposal to go full-on good and evil through marketing through Quirk exploitation is as bad as it comes. He DID NOT choose to be evil, but instead his repaying actions to the yakuza MADE him evil in mindset towards the heroes who think of nothing but saving the day and keeping the peace within. That's the stereotypical mindset of such people like Deku, who claims nothing but to save everyone out of trouble, even a small girl like Eri.

Phenomenal episode as usual.

well deku is pretty much killing himself every second (did you forget what a single punch in 100% did to him?) eris quirk is not having enough time to make some serious damage

weirdly enough if the hearth/lungs weren't penetrated as long the they don't remove the object people are known to survive a suprisily amount of time after being impaled by

When Midoriya punched overhaul with all the fists reminded me of Luffy. One hell of an episode though think I'll re-watch it just because.

I thought it was kind of meh.. the OST was misplaced (and it was over Deku talking so we can't even clearly hear it), the animation with the exception of the last few minutes was definitely not up to Bones' usual standard (much like the previous episodes) and the flashback was very slow so it interrupted the flow of the fight for me

This episode was really, really good. Yet, I expected more from this episode and this arc in general. In the manga, the Overhaul arc is one of, if not, the best arc. Here in the anime however, it’s nowhere near that point. Kirishima and Fat Gum were below expectations, Mirio Vs Overhaul was great until they stopped animating it, and Deku vs Overhaul finally had some Sakuga, but nowhere near any of the major fights in Season 2 and 3. Now that we’re coming to a close on the Overhaul arc, I can only pray that they make the Gentle fight absolutely spectacular. 8/10, but nothing more.

Damn, what a fight. It's been a while since I've seen Deku run loose. That finishing move tho, it reminds me of Saitama's serious series punch lol

Great episode!

Seems Toga helped Deku in that reinforcment from the girls!

Seems Eri have a rewind quirck, and she managed to use it in the right moment, Deku was able to figth with his 100% thank to her rewind quirk, they managed to defeat Chisaki in that awesome fight, and managed to change Nigheye's vision, altering future!

Another unpredictable episode, but it was just epic, curious for next episode!

Awww, no new opening? That's kinda disappointing. Maybe in the next episode, hopefully.

But dayum, what an episode.

Man, this episode really hit the spot. That was fantastic. Exceeded my expectations - Overhaul was one crazy powerful guy, and just...well, crazy, but I love how where all the other heroes were taken out or out of energy to fight, Deku kicked it into high gear and ripped Chisaki a new one. Or a bunch of new ones. That was excellent, plot wise, animation wise, all of it. I do wish they'd have used more Ochaco-chan though, but I don't think she's quite ready for THOSE kinds of fights. I also thought Toga Himiko warning the heros that Deku needed help (disguised as Ochaco) was a pretty awesome twist. Even the sound design was top notch -

...now, on a slightly different point after reading reviews and comments around the internet.... I'm a little surprised to see so many people bitching and whining about that aspect - and about how they're essentially "tired of heroes" - well... you might want to consider watching a different anime, guys. What EXACTLY are you looking for in "My Hero"? I don't really care what anime it is, my expectation is never that each episode is going to be something brand new that I've never seen anything like before - it blows me away that there are evidently a lot of anime fans out there who have the delusion that they've seen even one other anime that was that way - think real hard - you're full of crap, haha.

Then and now, this anime has just about everything an anime should have and is one of the most exciting and entertaining anime experiences you can currently find - if you don't like tropes and cliches you MAY want to consider finding another form of entertainment, one that doesn't exist in any medium. Just saying.

They already announced we will get a new opening from kana boon.
It will provably start at episode 14 or 15.

I see. I heard about a new OP and I thought it would be from this episode. Thank you for clarifying it for me!

This arc felt like a very long boring filler arc, filled of plot devices, plot holes, poor pacing and awful characterization (with some exceptions).

Nighteye's future sight is pointless as we know Deku is the one narrating his own story, of course he's going to succeed, Deku is the embodiment of plot armor after all so all the emotional weight he could've had is denied and left out without any meaning.

For being one of the most hyped arcs as the "best of the manga so far" this was sure really disappointing, even worse, it seems next arcs are bad from what I've heard, so, RIP. MHA just dug it's grave.
If you find yourself in disagreement with me, please, don't do the following:

1. Call out on some superiority complex.
2. Rely on "If you don't like then don't watch it" in an attempt to defend your statements
3. Resorting to insults.

If you're unable to do this, simply, don't say anything ;)
