Haikyuu!!: Riku vs. Kuu Episode 1 Discussion

The first match between Nekoma and Fukurodani wasn't as intense as I though it would be but it was still great. Bokuto was too good.

Nekoma's second opponent were so annoying with their tactics.

Lev's sister is hot.

Interesting match just like expected. It's not looking good for Nekoma though, that's unfortunate.

Been a while since Haikyuu, glad to see the animation is still living up.

Then again, Production IG is in their zone with sports anime

Man I love Bokuto, he's definitely one of my favorites.

being a manga reader, I'm really disappointed how this match got handled.
this is supposed to be like seijoh vs karasuno.
they rushed a lot of stuff and the whole game wasn't nearly as entertaining as it was in the manga, no tense, no excitement whatsoever.

nonetheless watching it being animated is still better than nothing. but you can't squeeze 5 chapters in 3/4 of the episode.

Bokuto really is my favourite Haikyuu character!

can't help but laugh every time Lev is getting teased by everyone. YAKUUUUU is so cool as always ;-;
The matches were too fast I think??? It wasn't as entertaining as it looked like in the manga just like what Zeke-frost also said above!!

Everything feels unimportant,rushed and the music doesn't really fit the tone of the episode.

Bokuto is one of my favorite characters so I'm happy to see him again, I just hoped everything felt bigger and more epic.

The animation is fine, I kinda love the new artstyle, it reminds a lot of the manga.
Overall it was a good episode, I'm glad Haikyu is back.

Funny watching Lev get baited Bokuto was so silly sometimes for a great player

I cannot put into words how good and nostalgic it feels to have Haikyuu back. Time to put all these other phony sports anime to shame.

Would’ve been nice if this got extended but it for me hyped none the less

You know it's gonna be an incredible experience when you get fired up mere minutes into the show as the soundtrack starts playing.

This was just too awesome, I'm so happy to have Haikyuu back after 3 years. Let's go!
I do wish this had more production value into it as it felt like some parts were skipped but it's still great.

Yep, I think it's more common in the Tokyo dialect, fitting considering the teams playing.

Bokuto the goat lol. Thou the first match was pretty normal. The second match is amusing and it just got really interesting now that Yaku got hurt. Time for Lev to show his stuff I guess. Also both of the sisters are great.

"Hei, hei, hei" that's what I hate, but missed from Bokuto 😆

My favorite player is, of course from Karasuno team, Tsukishima Kei.. but I really like the dynamic of Bokuto and Akaashi. Been a long time since I saw Kuroo too! 😍

I haven't read the manga yet, but I'm pretty satisfied with the first episode of the OVA. Although, I hope the episode could be added so the story won't feel like it is rushed 😃

and it is not Rika, it is Riku (陸) such as in Sports anime, the Infamous Track-Field Club (陸上部 - Riku Jou Bu)

That next opponent has shady personality it seems. A member got affected.

Well liked the first episode..so much hype...glad that two episodes came together

It's been 3 years since I last watched Haikyuu. I feel refreshed after watching this ep xD

I've gotta say even tho I'm not really invested in these two teams much...
the music for this series and the whole sound design is top notch, it's rlly good and I'm glad Haikyuu is back

I love Bokuto and Akaashi so much.

This isn't bad at all, but still pretty disappointing compared to the manga. Just too condensed, I suppose.
I'll see how next episode is but this will certainly be the first piece of Haikyuu!! content that I don't give a 9 or 10/10 to.

It was great but also made me uneasy since Nekoma and Fukurōdani are two of my favorite teams. I didn't want to have to pick who I wanted to win.

Nekoma lost but they still have a shot a nationals?? ughh. I'm so confused

After Watching the second episode I get it now but that's really something they should have explained at the beginning sheesh

Didn't like how rushed the Nekoma vs. Fukurodani match was. They were competing for a spot in the Nationals yet there barely was any tension.

That said, it's still Haikyuu!! and I tend to love everything this series releases but I wish this side story wasn't that condensed.

My little Kenma and Bokuto are back, I'm so happy! But I have to agree that the match felt a bit rushed. Nonetheless, this is still better than nothing.

On the other hand, Nekoma's second rival has quite a nasty technique to distract their opponent. I'm not really fond of that to be honest.（︶^︶）

The director seems don't have none experience with action scenes. I doesn't felt any excitment while seen the spikes and defense like the others maches in all Haikyuu. I really expect the 4 season isn't like the Ova

well, yh I expected to be more epic like karasuno vs seijo in second season but damn good still :3 fukurodani was really strong didn't think nekoma would have so bad time but after their won very clearly, love the white jersey of nekoma and fukurodani so cool damn i really love this series, better animation, soundtrack etc nice job production ig, to the top promises to be good, hype.

That captain Daisho is showing such a good example for his teammates... How good would tease do? Nothing! It will break someone's spirit and creates pressure for a team so it will loose the game :/ not cool! And that look shows he's searching for a target to tease and bring someone down. Such a troublemaker and I'm already disliking a character. Good grief!

I can't believe Kenma stabbed Lev while saying he's not near Shoyo's level XD At least he gave strenght and it wasn't that bad in the end ;)

This was a bit underwhelming, had to pause and rewatch for a bit cause I missed how suddenly they started playing another team, lol.

I watched all the movies recently so it shouldn't feel so distant to me but the match was really mostly lost on me. Not much hype as with usual Karasuno matches.

It was good to see Haikyuu again though, still hyped for the new season.

The first match seemed so normal I guess Haikyuu isn't Haikyuu without intensity and cool osts and great camera angles.

I did not like this, 6/10.

It just felt rushed. You didn't even get into the meat of the first match before you're already playing the second one? And they're in some type of losers bracket? I thought if you lost you were out?

It felt like parts of two incomplete episodes glued together to make one. It lacked a good transition between them to make it flow better.

I thought Lev was a better player than that. He was pretty awful.

Maybe I don't like the "other" teams enough to watch an OVA about them without the Crows also involved. Or, maybe, if it was just produced better I would've liked it even without the Crows? Idk.
