I wonder if this is one of the rare cases where the manga adaption is better than the light novel. At least the designs are much better (imo) and it's actually a fun read despite looking like it would be generic trash. The staff and key visual are not getting my hopes up tbh.

Manga cover:

Has anyone read the ln and knows how it compares?

Not Isekai. The MC is a local denizen of that fantasy world.
I frown at recent installments of Persona and Trails of Cold Steel that introduce harem-like elements in the story.

We need more JRPGs like the past Lunar series, where there are multiple romantic pairings in the party other than for the protagonist and main heroine.

The prophesy "when the living will envy the dead" might not have been as far-fetched as many contemporaries believed.

I have liked the director's work in the past (Rakudai & Imouto sae Ireba li) and Silver link has done plenty of pretty nice stuff in the past, might as well try this out next season.

Cover art looks good. Better than the manga cover that the above user posted.

We don't get many reincarnation anime, and like @fullmetalmasify said Rakudai was pretty good.

In the LN Vol 2 there's a big swordfight scene, so that's why the guy who worked on Rakudai Kishi as the director is involved in this show's production ?
