| Depressed Thorfinn was the best Thorfinn. But yeah, I can understand why you like Teenage Thorfinn. I just believe that all the development did him justice and it's really satisfying to see Thorfinn mature and struggling with the past.. So yeah. Adult Thorfinn for me. |
| yeah he is boring I think that a middle ground would have been better. Struggling to maintain his calm and steady demeanor would have been more interesting. Currently it was just like a switch (well, with the wood cutting arc it really isn't but you get the idea) with a complete 180 turn. You can't just live a life full of blood and war and then morph into the exact opposite without any temptation. |

| How? He was your average kid who in the heat of the moment decided to become a Viking without any genuine passion for it. More stupid than the randoms on Askeladd's crew. Remove his physical advantages and Askeladd and he would be absolutely nothing. Teenage Thorfinn is by far the worst because he suppressed his emotions for so long he became numb to anything that wasn't about avenging his father. He threw away any attempt at a decent life for something infinitely more stupid than whatever he would've done otherwise. I liked how he was written during this phase (the rawness) and will always defend him but even I found him unbearable at times. Adult Thorfinn even with all the unrealism is much more interesting and fun to watch. And he still has badass moments, but more like Thors, it's actually admirable to see as someone living in 21th century. He became his own person, stopped being a slave to ideals others put into his head (except the author's reeeeeeee). |
