Nintendo revealed a short anime series titled Hakumei no Tsubasa (Pokemon: Twilight Wings) on Friday, along with a teaser visual (pictured) and special website. Set in the world of Pokemon Sword and Shield—the Galar region—the series will debut worldwide on the official Pokemon YouTube channel and consist of seven episodes with a duration of five minutes. The first episode will be available to stream on January 15, 2020 at 10:00 p.m., with the next episodes debuting each month.

Synopsis
Galar is a region where Pokemon battles have developed into a cultural sensation. Over the span of seven episodes, Pokemon: Twilight Wings will show in detail the dreams of Galar's residents, the realities they face, the challenges they must overcome and the conflicts they must resolve. In addition to these new stories, fans can expect to see a variety of Pokemon originally discovered in the Galar region appearing in the capsule series. (Source: Press Release)

Pocket Monsters, localized under the title of Pokemon, was created by Satoshi Tajiri and Ken Sugimori in 1995. Game Freak and Nintendo published the first game in the franchise in 1996 on GameBoy. Since then, multiple adaptations have spawned, including the latest anime series by OLM and several manga adaptations, with Pocket Monsters Special (Pokemon Adventures) being the most notable.

Pokemon Sword and Shield is the eighth generation in the main series, which was released worldwide on November 15 on Nintendo Switch. The games sold 6 million units during the first week of launch.

Wow, this is amazing!
As I was playing (still am) Pokemon Shield, I've noticed just how interesting Galar Region is so it's definitely great to see an anime series about it. I mean, they could show Galar within standard Pokemon series but having a special one is definitely good!

Web animation series appears to be what Pokémon should focus on more. Generations was fun, and although I do wish there was more to it, it was an interesting place to take the franchise. The main anime's not going there for a while it looks like, so to have a little side-thing all about it will help it. SwSh has been disappointing, so hopefully seeing Galar animated will do the region wonders.

I'm gonna wait 'til all these episodes are out before I watch, though, given the short duration of each episode.

Uh, I'm pretty sure that this was revealed by The Pokémon Company, not Nintendo. It's even on the source.

Woah, Shingo Yamashita as director? Didn't expect that. The rest of staff looks absolutely amazing as well. This is a must-watch for every sakuga fan.
