Trying to find the anime that was kind of similar to power rangers

The main characters were part of an organization that defended earth from monsters that came from another planet. I distinctly remember they also created a band together and one of the characters sacrificed herself to save earth at the end.

Might be SSSS Gridman or Gurren Lagann or maybe Neon Genesis Evangelion it’s hard to say. Might need to be more specific if you can.

Much of the "super sentai" genre that Power Rangers emulated dates back to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Science_Ninja_Team_Gatchaman.

The remakes, Gatchaman Crowds and Gatchaman Crowds Insight, were made by the talented Nakamura Kenji (Mononoke, Tsuritama) and concern the effects of social media.

BTW, there's a series on Netflix called "The Toys that Made Us" that has an interesting episode about the development of the Power Rangers franchise.
