No wonder Myne has a fear of her current condition.

I honestly feel bad for her. It seems her condition is getting worse everyday but at least she's trying to keep up a good spirit. Lutz is such a good friend for helping her in any way he can. She even gets a piggyback ride! The cliffhanger kinda worries me.

We all know that Ma-in won't die but I'm interested in how she'll be cured. Typical slow paced episode as usual but I won't complain because this episode did feel progressive throughout the 20 mins.
I have a hunch on how this season will wrap-up but let's wait for next 2 eps and I hope we'll get some form of satisfactory conclusion for this season. It's been 10 eps of buildup so I have high expectations.

Maine is still making products and help improve the shampoo she sold f to Benno.

That ending..., I feel bad for Maine :(

Four more episodes to go.

According to the conversation between Benno and Lutz in the preview, we'll see the magic item to suppress (not cure, only temporally) the Devouring.

I feel like Trombe has more role than just being a tree that used to make paper.
Since it absorb a lot of nutrition, is it possible if Main eat Trombe and let it absorb her excess magic? I don't expect Main to use magic anyway, not with this setting.

This is just getting better each episode.

I might even give it a 10 when it ends
This show it truly the most underrated anime this season IMO. I hope the score gets close to 8 eventually

Needless to say, another really good episode, but that cliffhanger at the end... Need next episode right now!

Ya, it's just crazy, it is really good. Too bad the crappy animation(at the start, even now its just average)
coupled with the RELATIVELY weak start (nothing much in the 1st episode) throws many people off.

One of the best episodes yet. The conversation Myne had with Benno was really dramatic. Benno realises her supernatural aspect after Myne openly admits to knowledge far beyond her physical abilities and age permit, and that he's talking to some unknown being, who's inhabiting the body of a sickly young girl (or maybe the possession of the body is causing it to break out in fever).

It was so atmospheric & really had me drawn in to what was happening.

The flourishing relationship between Myne & Lutz are the cornerstone of this show. They are great to watch. The mums discussing them at the well was a timeless situation where women have gossiped since time began.

It's what I'm wondering too! Contain it within a metal shed and only supply Maine's mana as nutrient. She'll have control over it's growth without a chance of it landing on ground or dirt to spread. Would be a double win to have the devouring slowed & gain wood for Paper.

I agree the animation isn't as important as the character development and story but that first impression putting people off could be enough to reduce it's viewership. Personally I enjoy the art, they have their adorably drawn & visually wholesome moments.

My favourite anime this season. It's current rating is too low. I knew about the books and the manga before but I haven't started reading it yet and now I am watching every week. I'm thinking of buying the books on Amazon.

In my opinion, the animation is good enough. The story and characters are exceptional. Main, Turi and Frida are very cute and Main is remarkably dedicated to book keeping and reading. I am sure she's going to reach very far and I am glad the anime doesn't rush things.

Currently her illness is making her fall off the chair which is worrying, however we know she's going to be fine. Apparently she needs to struggle a lot to achieve what she wants. I guess that "the devouring" may be the key to learning magic later.

Yup, but even then i would want a average enough animation(well they are decent enough except maybe the first 2 episodes) .

Even here animation can be very important like showing facial expressions, they can really make or break the series. In the first few episodes specially, there faces were bland.

Well one thing is for certain, this was the best episode till now!!

Regardless of animation quality this series got me since the first episode just on the premise alone and the main character.

I hope this series get more praise and following. I've already seen a couple of youtubers naming it as the best Isekai this season and I completely agree. The problem is that most casual viewers are not even aware of this hidden gem. And I would love a second season because I'm afraid this one is not gonna be enough to give us some kind of closure.

It's been a year since Main has been in that world, damn, the girl is hanging on there. If only it wasn't for that devouring disease matter.

This series has become a little bit of meaningful. Her true identity, goals and the disease have suddenly become the subject matter in this series. And this has triggered my curiosity a little, to how it's going to pen out at the end. Hope she has a happy ending though, I'm really rooting for her to achieve her book dream. I just love ambitious characters, so so so much.

More than eating, maybe making an object that she can wear and constantly drains the devouring power keeping it in check? Heck, she could even craft it herself after seeing the shape and properties of the temporary one Benno wants to give her for 2 gold coins!

The LN is topping the sales charts on Bookwalker (it's already popular in Japan) so it does appear to be getting a following.

Dang, this series is getting more traction (and a better score count, not complaining there) but yet it's still underrated for what it is.

Main trying to make a mark in the world while fighting against her fever that is the Devouring. That's a harsh body there within the span of a year. But thanks to Lutz, she's been recovering well.

With that, Lutz and Main keeps being trained by Benno...and he getting insider information from Main? The mantra that was taught off from him, there's a reason to keep mum about the Devouring, the same way as Frieda. The longer that fever torments her, the shorter her timespan of living, and selling that information is the only way to keep her surviving, all possibilities considered.

Back to dangerous fruit trombe harvesting, but that isn't stopping the Devouring from happening, even if it's becoming apparent that it will strike anytime, anywhere. Lutz is becoming more of a gentleboy to the frail (unreal) Main and bearing more responsibility for her.

Shit got real when the Devouring just swallowed her whole, it was unseemingly fast and honestly, a total shock. There's no time to waste, time to save her!

Now Benno knows too that Main is not just a girl with brilliant ideas. Dun think Main will tell him about her past anytime soon or tell him at all. Also damn that ending totally made me worried, hope they find a way to save her soon.

Seeing how Benno answered to her how to deal with the devouring before knowing about that she isn't a little girl and the way he acts in the preview makes me think he understands there's unknown tapped money making potential within Mayn's knowledge and he is willing to bet his own money to try and save her(or at least I hope).

Also I'm guessing kids that survive the devouring into adulthood become nobles, so my guess is that Mayn will become a noble thanks to all her knowledge just as we saw at the start but I'm also guessing she'll use her new found wealth to help Frida become a noble aswell.

BTW I really hope they announce a second season as this one ends because otherwise I'll have to go read the LN and I find reading a book on a PC lame and try to avoid it.

Ok wow. What a cliffhanger. I don’t see how this will be wrapped up by episode 14. I just started reading the light novel which is adding better clarity to the show. This anime is a bit odd because it seemed to be a slice of life going nowhere until recently. I certainly am glad I stuck with it. I wonder who the high priest is in the chibi end caps. They haven’t even introduced him yet. Maybe they won’t.

When Lutz started weeping carrying Myne through the streets, so did I. That automatically gives the series another point in my rating for the show. Make me wet, get a point.

The SFX audio in this anime is amazing!!! Those bass tone sweeps are perfect.

I really appreciate the fact that they 're going all out with using the " overflowing box with a lid" allegory for what's happening inside her since I think this allegory really helps understanding what is the problem with commoners children born with magic.

Thumbs up, story is skipping a few things but overall is faithful to the original feel of the series, and the second cour is going to bring even more of all of this.

Another great episode of one of my favourite series of this season.

But dam that cliffhanger. Cant wait for the next episode.

Love seeing Lutz support Mein and them working together. Mein X Lutz is looking more and more appealing.

This devouring is making some interesting scenes with everyone worrying about Mein. I like scenes where other characters worry about the main one.

Maine demanding 3 small gold coins was very nice.
Her resolve to live was touching.
I really like Maine and her dad's interactions. The way she handled the situation on him feeling down and he said "Let's go!"
The scene with Lutz crying on Maine telling him her resolve while carrying Maine on her back was powerful.
Damn, Maine fell.
The preview eased the tension somewhat. And as always, I love the end art.

So how expensive would be treatment?.. It would help to know at least some kind of possible price.. Also, I somehow have a feel that maybe you can release mana by some other means, not only with some expensive treatment.. Just that our heroes don't know about this yet..

Myne is dying... T_T
This story is really sweet and endearing.
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

Wow, another excellent episode. Lutz crying like that though, he seems to really care about Myne a lot.

I really do hope they can find a cure for Myne's illness, that was just horrific seeing her collapse to the floor like that. The sound her head made when hitting the floor was just awful.

That was one mean cliffhanger, I really hope Myne ends up being alright.
