She want to use that material that could destroy entire environment for a paper. Now we talking about realistic....

Lutz is realy aware about Maine, and I'm not surprise if he knew first that Maine is not real her. And also glad that Maine immediately reveal it, making it without secret between them. Now I'm thinking... is Lutz know that the one inside Maine is an adult

And paper business began to run

Another amazing episode. That conversation between Lutz and Maine was really touching. I'm really glad that they finally got to make papers. Now all they need is to mass-produce it and the paper making business is now open. I can't wait for Maine to make her first book.

The same thing happens to most people, it's even got a name "childhood amnesia

This is not similar in the least because there is literally no continuity between Main's personality and the person's inhabiting her body now. It doesn't seem very intuitive to think of personality changes as we age as coming from 'outside us' or 'inhabiting us' in fact it just seems ridiculous, and meaningless as metaphor. And I don't think the young age makes it any better, in fact that makes it worse because she has shared almost nothing with her family and now someone else is experiencing that.

So thanks for making it more depressing.

Solid episode!

Lutz was being a kid for a while but it was heartwarming to see him come to terms with it eventually. Maine sure didn't hold back either, good that otherwise a greater twist would've been in the making. Anyway, the whole scene was wonderfully done!

Maine really spilled a tad too much even by her standards this time around though, I've to say. Or maybe it's just Lutz intuition is amazing but either way that was some interesting build-up to the climax.

Curious on the true nature and reasoning behind that tree and especially why it didn't absorb nutrients from the Earth. I hope this doesn't mean it sucked a part of her life though, but I've a feeling this is exactly what occurred. Well, hopefully we'll get these answers in due time.

Maine's "I can't?" in the end there was really adorable, on another note. Really liking her character more by the episode.

Dam Lutz this episode. Depressed as hell the entire episode. But that end part was really nice. I was so expecting Mein to cry.

At first I was like "Hell no dont bring romance into this" but honestly now Im not that against it anymore. They do seem to be hinting a thing between Mein and Lutz but guess we'll see what happens.

Mein has finally made some progress so we can finally see the next step towards her goal. So far this entire series technically has made no progress so its nice to finally see some.

That was rather tragic. All of a sudden we need to come to terms with what REALLY happened. Endearing bUt still sad for what being smacked in the face with reality. I’m still not sure which direction this is going.

Now kind of confused about Myne and Urano. I saw a Twitter thread from the author that said that Myne IS Urano, being a reborn soul whose memories got returned. But here it seems Urano thinks Myne is a completely different person and she's just in Myne's body?

Anyway, I think Lutz shouldn't have got that angry. I mean, if I remember the earlier episodes correctly, Lutz and Myne weren't really that close until Urano started being Myne. So the Myne he knew has always been Urano.

Myne IS Urano and it IS a case of her previous ego taking over.
However our little MC doesn't realise this. She wrongly thinks that she's just a body snatcher.

Ah, so it's a case of Myne just not fully understanding her situation.

She finally made paper and also revealed her secret! I'm surprised it's even addressing it to be honest, so many anime just have this one "what if..." idea, but they don't explore some of the darker sides of it. This anime actually addresses how fucked up it is that she's lying and pretending a family's daughter is still alive, not that I blame her for it exactly either, it's just a fucked up situation. And of course actual progress: the paper is complete! Considering how slow this was in the beginning I was sure they would stretch major plot points like this out, but they are really speeding things up to a more normal pace and it's a lot more enjoyable to watch because of that.

You have to give the writer credit for making something a bit out of the norm for your typical reincarnation story

Most writers simply brush off the fact that when a person reincarnates into another person's body after that said body already lived out there own lives for so long, they would change so suddenly but the people who knew the original person simply brush it off as now they are weirder but accept where as lutz actually figured it out and both him and myne confronted it and move foward.

Outside of that i also really like how the story is slowly but surly being build it give u a feel that these people and world are somewhat real and believable. A world that has its own identity and everything is connected.

I look foward to see it how it goes.

Actually, a +1 too, nice to note this out because the topic of "reincarnation", holding this reasoning to something that's typical of Isekai isn't gonna work out (hell, I'd think that it is as much a blatant excuse), but in this show, the world isn't so much forgiving even in children's POV, but it's nice to point out that their world is somewhat special and unique. That's what I love about this series, that's it's not a copy-and-paste rhetoric.

Back to the episode, amidst tensions that the past Myne has passed in Lutz's POV, Myne and Lutz are on their way of progress into papermaking. But with her frail health, she is needed to be carried around from time to time.

Heck, a fruit that steals nutrients? Sure is a dangerous fruit. But making paper with these weeds? Sure is a blessing in disguise.

With the passing days, Lutz is more aware of how Myne has changed, and confronts her about it. As how Merchant Benno knows it, the Devouring played a role in her life 50/50. It's NOT like Urano wanted to be Myne, but she DIDN'T have a choice to choose who she is reincarnated to. The whole ordeal is a slap to Lutz's face, but it was a blessing as he has been continuously wrecking his perception against the 2 different Myne's, but overtime, as much as she changed his life inside out, he accepted the Myne from before (the year when she arrived), and the Myne of the current and future. Y'know, the papermaking Myne.

Now I need a spin-off about their love life, if romance was a thing in this series. Just can't ship them enough uWu xD

This episode has changed more than just my speculations on how this series wanted to go, but the unexpected realization of handling Myne in towards her reincarnated situation made it all the more blissful. Best episode by a long shot.

I recommend looking at this thread What happened to the original Myne?.
It covers stuff that the author said in a fan-book and on Twitter but are only hinted at in the LN (and won't be in the anime at all).

Great episode. The part when Lutz became cold to Main, that was really hard and I feel bad for Main, I'm glad that everything went fine after that. The paper they made works now and that is a good one step at the goal, the trombe part was cool though.

The moment Main told Lutz she is not really Main and Lutz accepting it was really touching.

I got spoiled on what's going on thanks to some of the folks above, but if what's being said in this episode WAS the case, I kinda find that to be a bit creepy. O:
Like you take over someone's body and people just accept it as if the person before didn't like... matter...??
That's kinda like some US (the film) stuff right there.
Thankfully, that's not actually the case.

Maybe I'm just nitpicking and too strict, because I'm a caretaker, but jeez... have you ever seen a real kid at his age like that? I don't mean Myne, but Lutz. He acts like he's closer to 16 than like 6? ^^"
What's even weirder is that an almost-adult makes her will to live dependent on that little kid, huh!?

I really like the premise of this anime and big parts of the execution, but that bugs me as much as I like it. Her parents don't say anything about it, bit this kid. Although I think they secretely know.

Anyway that was a good scene and finally she could make paper!

but still... i unexpectedly cried when she said "so you don't want me gone? i'm not the real main..." and like, i would have thought they were tears of anger but they were actual tears

I actually think Urano-Myne is wrong. It comes down to what makes a person I guess, but to me your memories are a major part of who you are. Both sets of memories exist in her head. Urano memories are dominant, but the language, her family, memories of her life before as just Myne are there and I feel they have had an affect on who she is.

In other words, the original Myne lives on as part of her. If Myne had died completely she would have spent the first half of the year learning to talk in the right language.

I think in this situation, this is definitely what I would have told Lutz. "I am Myne, but I am also somebody else. We are both here in this body." If nothing else it is less devastating for him (and contrary to the author, I feel it is true).

Not to mention there are definitely parts of her personality that do NOT seem like an adult. I think she is more Myne than she realizes.

You can hear the original myne's voice at the beginning of the story, complaining it's too hot, that she's giving up.
The original Myne gave up to the fever so the consciousness swapped to Urano's consciousness.
Technically the body itself never biologically died, but original Myne's personality is nowhere to be found.

The most interesting thing is that Trombe is very similar to type of tree we use to make paper today, it can grow quickly, can be very large and tall, and can absorb a lot of nutrition and water in large area. In other view, it is because it has this property so it is suitable for making paper.
Where do you think the creator got the idea from, art imitates life, usually.

So first off, let me apologize to this anime, I was super harsh after the first two episodes, but this episode and the last 5 have been absolutely phenomenal. This episode was extremely emotional, the conversation between Lutz and Main was stunning. I did not expect an Isakaei to take this route, but it's great to see

I hope they'll finally make paper as they stated in the preview at the end of previous episode.. Because it's starting to get a bit too long..
Well, they finally made paper.. Glad for this.. Mission accomplished with such important invention bringing to this world.. ;P Well, if they share their secret with Benno, I'm not too sure, on what exactly they agreed, only remember "we'll sell, you'll get some percentage", and that's all.. Well, anyway, will see..
Also I just hope that Myne will with time become closer to actual books.. The faster the better.. But will see, maybe it won't be too fast.. I hope it'll be fast, though..

I was worried they'd never tackle the question of "What happened to the real Main" cause that seems like an often ignored trope when it comes to these kinds of things, but I'm really surprised and glad that Lutz brought it up and Main was willing to be open and honest about the situation.

I had this theory that the real Main succumbed to the Devouring and died, and that's why the current Main (Urano) started her new life bedridden at about 5 years old. It just seemed too strange to not let her start from birth. And it looks like my theory was pretty much correct, judging by Main's response to Lutz. I guess it's hard to judge for even Main to assume that a corpse is all that would be left behind if she herself vanished, but it's probably safe to say the real Main is gone for good.

Man she is really intelligent, but she is actually really stupid in other ways. She DESPERATELY wants to not have Lutz figure it out, but she KEEPS talking about stuff in a way that makes it GLARINGLY apparent that she isn't Myne. And the way she told him was sooo stupid. It was like forced conflict. For someone soo smart she is soo stupid. How dumb can you be? You can't explain it better? Like she should have said that from the BEGINNING. Also, she should have behaved in a MUCH more cautious way with her family, if she had any consideration towards their feelings and she wasn't going to tell them she should have not talked about all this stuff she could never possibly know.

Wow, a great development. Someone finally understood a bit of Myne's weirdness of who she really is even if it's not the exact explanation but to think this crush thing is being developed in this story knowing full well that they're still kids. I hope it won't turn into a romance lol XD... The moment he said "...my Myne...?!" What?!

I've been enjoying this so far and the funny moments aren't redundant and full of cuteness and adorableness!
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

Lutz treating her like some kind of demon.

Myrne told him the truth cold served like some boss villain would do.
But she can't do anything about what happened to real Myne, it's just not her fault.

Anyway, I like that they finally managed to make some paper, now I just wonder why they tried wood and clay before when Myne already knew about making paper from plant fibres.

Things totally went south with Lutz there, telling him everything was the only right choice. So that's one big thing after these 8 episodes. Also him assuring her that he'd support her as usual as he was doing was the most redeeming part apart from their success on finally creating the paper.

I'm surprised Lutz didn't get pissed when she started shit talking Main's body. I'd like to think that the actual Main was given the chance at another life too. I mean, it's kind of depressing to think about the possibility of someone else making memories with your family and friends in your place, like she's basically been overwritten and nobody even mourned her death. The more I think about it the more it sucks and I can't help but see fake-Main's attitude in this episode as insensitive. Though I guess understandable to a degree.

Hmm yeah. I've had basically no complaints about the anime so far but Lutz's reaction to Maine's reveal should have been better written. I wonder if the light novel did it differently.

Most dramatic gardening scene ever. Trombe ain't a joke.

The confrontation finally happened and they didn't disappoint with the intensity especially with them being 6 year olds and all. After that outburst I'm really curious to see a glimpse of how Lutz and pre-isekai body hijack Myne interacted.
