Let's go champ! Jk... I'm actually not too excited at all tbh. Megalo Box was action-packed. Unfortunately, that was it. Meanwhile Ashita no Joe, to me, was poetry. It was beautiful. I'll probably be giving the first few episodes a go though... a fool can only hope. ![]() Modified by Darius, Nov 17, 2019 2:55 PM Goku_SSJB said: my science teacher told me to get self-awareness, I called him a gay motherfucker I got suspended and my mom whooped my ass |
I enjoyed the first season so I'll definitely give it a watch, but it felt like the story they sought to tell was pretty cleanly finished already. I'm expecting another case of "it was popular, so have more." ![]() Mendokusai |
I just like the art direction (and the OST which I loved) of this anime so I'm kinda excited. It's not as poetic as Ashita No Joe, but let's not forget this was done as a commerative of the later. There was only 13 episodes, kinda hard to go deeply into story telling and character building. ![]() |
I like how we all got a notification and were just surprised. Like what Season 2? Wasn't it supposed to be a one-time thing? ![]() |
After finally having watched Rocky 1-5 this year, I gotta say that I have no idea what decent direction this season 2 could go in. It's not like he'd be the big champ having to face what he thinks he's become like in Rocky 3, and so it makes me think we're already going to Rocky(6) where he's a washed up older fighter...or something. But even that makes no sense since the whole point of Season 1 was to show how human flesh beats machine, regardless of how they didn't really show how it was accomplished. I guess, world tour to prove he's the world's best Joe? *shrug* ![]() |
If the OST reach the level of season 1, I know I'll be watching all of it no matter the quality, even if I am just watching for the music ![]() |
Meh. Whilst there is no 2nd season for anime that require it *cough cough* No Game No Life *cough*, trash like these are getting them. ![]() |
I'm somewhat cautious but also excited. On one hand where can the story even go now, with how it ended anything else will feel a bit more tacked on. On the other hand I enjoyed it enough that I wouldn't mind more ![]() |
It will be interesting to see what they'll do with this. With almost perfect ending of season 1,there were not any lose ends. Anyhow I'm up for it. ![]() |
imo season 1 ended perfect but if this is a side story with different characters im game!!!! either way ill watch it. yujoe 4ever ![]() moe moe ichijou seiya |
what else is there for Joe to do really? he's a Champ already, Amma watch it to slap myself and prove myself wrong(i hope it proves wrong) the ending looked pretty good enough to wrap the whole thing as a closure, but you never know what they might be cooking for us. ![]() |
Megalo Box was that very rare kind of an anime: the one that has an actual ending. A dope one, too! And now we're getting a sequel. Not saying that sucks or anything, but I just hope it's not going to be a direct sequel, but rather something akin to a new installment - maybe taking place in a different part of the 'verse, or using the "X years later" formula. ![]() |
Huh I mean like many are saying a sequel isn't needed to this... hopefully they don't mess it up. ![]() |
Oh I totally forgot about this mediocre Ashita no Joe. I didn't give it much flak considering it was mostly a tribute and the retro vibe was nicely recreated but, a sequel? The "first season" had a rushed but clear ending. Unnecesary sequel, instead of remaking Ashita no Joe they announce this. ![]() |
I liked Megalo Box but I honestly didn't expect it to get another season... Oh well. I guess I'll try it out when I can. ![]() |
Actually there is no need for season 2 since the ending of season 1 was okay. Oh well, I will give it a try since I enjoy the series ![]() |
if the whole cast and staff returns then yes, better to make it now than to wait 10 years or more to do it. Only thing that will kill my hype for this would be if they tell the repetitive and generic story of a new young protagonist. I hope this sequel is about Joe and not some new random person. ![]() |
The first season ended quite nicely so idk what they're going to do with this. Although, I would be interested if they sort of take the Creed route and have Joe coach a new talent. ![]() |
_BombA- said: Good but where is Hajime no Ippo s4 Same I enjoyed megalo box, but I need more ippo. I even went on to read most of the manga lol I got chapters to catch up on ![]() |
Seeing the mixed reactions, it'd be funny if the sequel ends up being better that the first season. Although I have absolutely no idea how that could happen and what they have planned for this anyway. But I hope I'll at least get new cool soundtracks to add to my playlist. ![]() |
This is so unexpected since everything seemed to be wrapped up in the first season. I'm looking forward to it! ![]() |
Oh what?!?!?!?!?! I expected a lot of sequels from different animes. It never came to my mind that there could be a second season of Megalo Box. I have very mixed feeling about this. I mean the first season was good the way it was and I dont feel the urge for a second season. Well, I will give it a try. ![]() |
Why are people saying this is pointless? While the first season was a good ride, there were a lot of underdeveloped themes that could be explored in S2, such as the gears themselves. ![]() |
Yeah, I'm sharing similar opinions that the first ended on a good conclusion... BUT, I'm interested in the ideas they'll use to continue it. Personally, I was always more interested in the Gears. ![]() "You know you've reached peak quality when a doujin is better than the actual source series." (Eg. To LOVE-Ru) Just to list a couple of biases. Likes: A good story, characters, writing, romance, a good plot twist or something that breaks expectations (In a good way), 'backstory' and justice. Dislikes: Bad romance, too much fanservice, the harem genre, yuri, yaoi, and bad writing. |
Agree with most everyone else here, I liked Megalo Box but I really can't think of what a sequel could add. Ashita no Joe was still 10 times better too. ![]() |
