I think one of the main thing that drags the whole show down is how every aspect of it comes off as thoroughly market-researched and audience-tested (in a similar way to modern superhero/blockbuster movies) that it just feels like a bland mish-mash of tired anime tropes that plays it overly safe, with barely to none of the director or writer's artistic vision coming through.

I don't think it's a coincidence the most unique and consistently well liked TM work is the Kara no Kyoukai movies since it was both written and adapted without taking into consideration that it was going to be very successful or made to be appreciated by a broad audience (while sacrificing artistic integrity) and the end product showed that.

Meanwhile, most modern Fate anime feel like fancy cash grabs that only serve to popularize an already popular product whose main purpose is to convince as many players as possible to spend money gambling on their favorite waifus and husbandos. Sure there's a story here but that's clearly secondary to the gacha mechanics, which is the opposite of what it used to be where the "porn elements" are only there to help sell the story/characters rather than being the main point.

Well, I think you're right but clearly a lot of people in here don't. I got so much shit for criticizing this anime. I usually don't like generalizing, but some of the exchanges I've had in this thread have definitely placed the Fate (or at least the Grand Order) fandom very high on my list of the worst anime fanbases out there. Being unable to judge something objectively must suck.

Well, you did generalize a lot in your first points, and when people replied (a bit too angrily tho), you just ignored what they told you and kept going in circles.
In fact, now you're back to square one, saying that you're right and that are the others that are "unable to judge something objectively".

That's like the opposite of a solid argument, my dear.

Also bringing objectivity like a buzzword in this kind of context really works against you in terms of credibility for you just having "honest" critiques

Like, if you brought up good points and with less immediate avversion for the series, I can guarantee you the discussion would've gone very differently. I know some of these fellows, they engage without problems in reasonable discussions. The key word being reasonable.

Interesting way to start the episode, the emergence of the goddess Ishtar.

Fujimaru's group is entrusted with an important mission, they had to find the tablet of the destinations, but the detail that the city where it is hidden is under the domain of Ishtar who is part of the alliance of the three goddesses.
Seeing Anna excited about the trip was very adorable and then they shows Ushiwakamaru invading Fujimaru's personal space, it would also be hard for me to look at her with that revealing outfit, she is too cute, that smile so replenishing that she has.
It must be very strange that someone tells you that you are a famous historical character, at least to see that Ushiwakamaru is surprised, this is proof that her battles were important, I would have loved that she had traveled with Fujimaru.
It seems that Ishtar is a very capricious goddess and without respect for anything, but Merlin mentions interesting information and is that the Ishtar they knew is a girl possessed by the goddess spirit.

The city of Kutha is completely abandoned, it seemed that it would be a simple search, but for a strange reason Fujimaru ends up in the underworld and is attacked by a group of condemned souls but is saved by the man Fujimaru gave bread and he presented himself as Ziusu-dra.
I felt so bad for poor Mash, listening to her so worried and then seeing her so relieved and with her eyes full of tears because Fujimaru woke up, but on the other hand Fujimaru returned with the tablet they were looking for.
Ishtar appears to ruin things, but I admit that I love seeing her tsundere side, but it seems that it bothers her that she was treated as a thief and now Ishtar starts a fight.
The playful way in which Ishtar flies through the air is too adorable, but she is too naive to fall into Fujimaru's trap and it is thanks to Anna that she is defeated, although there is also the detail that she lost consciousness when the sun went down.
Ishtar shares some information and being honest is quite childish the reason why the three goddesses want to destroy Uruk, but before they can continue with the interrogation, the group is cornered by an army of skeletons, but before they escaped Fujimaru releases Ishtar and in return she allows them to flee the city, but I am still curious why Ishtar sometimes has blond hair, perhaps is the spirit of the goddess who is increasingly taking more presence in the host body.

Somehow I like Ishtar more than Rin Tohasaka.

Great episode I hope we don't end up like those dead from the underworld...

Ah yes, we finally get to see more of the best goddess. I'll leave it dubious whether I'm referring to Ishtar or her other half :^)

Ushiwakamaru is such a badass adorable waifu here. Delightworks, please upgrade her Saint Graph already kthx.

I'm also hearing a bit of the game's music, which is nice.

If I'm not mistaken, things will start to hit the fan by the next episode.

They tried to add some personality to Ritsuka when was talking with Ushiwakamaru but it feels flat for some reason.

Im more interested about Ishtar and the Underworld in this episode. 3/5

All weebs creatures of the galaxy, hear this message. Those of you who listen will not be struck by western animation. You will no longer know hunger, nor pain. Your Anime have come to lead you now. Our strength shall serve as a luminous sun toward which all intelligence may blossom. And the impervious shelter beneath which you will prosper. However, for those who refuse our offer and cling to their western animation ways… For you, there will be great wrath.

Protagonist randomly enters the Underworld and Ishtar is on their side, but at the same time is not on their side. Confusing.

Like some already said.
I also though Ishtar & Ereshkigal have different boddies.

Seems like it's not.
